IM Niche - The controversial question

Hi all

so as a newcomer to internet marketing, I obviously noticed the over-abundance of offers about IM - how to make money and succeed etc.

I understand that teaching the tricks of the trade is a product and one should be able to get rewarded for sharing this knowledge. In other words, it makes sense to build a business around that.

What makes me somewhat sceptical or demotivates me is the following thought: If people have figured out ways to make $100s or $1000s a day selling non IM products, why would you then go through the blood, sweat and tears of building an IM business about IM? Does this actually mean there isn't in fact that much money to make unless you sell the prospect of making money?

Hope I don't offend anyone here but I would really like to get your thoughts around this.

IM is the probably the most difficult niche to get established in, so no.

It's easier to make money outside IM niches - not because of the amount of competition but because everybody's wise to our methods - like a magician performing a trick in front of other magicians.

Most product sellers document what's working for them inside their non-IM businesses, and sell that to other marketers.

Its similar to the way chefs who use every part of an ingredient.

If I'm gonna get 10,000 people to visit my non-IM website, and because I like money, I'd be smart to document the process and sell the info.

The people who promise $100's or $1,000's per day are (mostly) scammers.

And you said it yourself, 'go through blood, sweat and tears of building an IM business' - it doesn't matter which niche you're in, all the blood, sweat, and tears you can imagine STILL isn't anywhere near what it actually takes to succeed.

Most people who buy the new shiny objects that you're talking about don't have the dedication to stick it out, and will never succeed, because they're constantly looking for the quick-fix.

Look at you - peeking behind the curtain! IM is a huge industry and there are people that want to capitalize on the greed and desperation of others. You don't need fancy tools to be an effective Internet Marketer - you just need time, a healthy dose of skepticism and a whole lot of sweat equity. I've been involved in the industry for almost 20 years and can tell you this - you're way better off for figuring it out early on.

Thanks, and this is why I love this forum. Trying to not put too much pressure on myself and trying to resist the urge to take out my credit card and buy a whole lot of done-for-you offers. I hope if I read attentively here for a while I will be well equipped to walk the long road.

Everything you need to know is already online for free. Put your wallet away.

When the time is right, invest in the specific areas that you need help with.

There is no quick fix for Online Success. Success online is a process.

In every other industry, people have to get trained, implement that training (to really learn the process since knowledge is only potential power) and then they have to do 'daily' work for an income.

This IM industry seems to be the only industry where people expect to succeed 'easily' because it's online and mostly a virtual business.

Most people not only expect easy success online but think that it's a gimmick and that there are 'tricks' that can make you even rich.

    In truth...

The laws of success are the same in every industry (especially this one).

    Online Success requires:

1- Learning (ongoing because things keep changing and what works now may not work a few years down the road).

2- Implementing : So many people are addicted to gaining more knowledge. People go to school and keep getting more education in the traditional world.

Most people are stuck in the reading, watching and learning mode.

But sadly most hardly ever implement what they learn here (or implement for long enough).

3- Mindset: Personal Development is required daily. The Minds that have made huge leaps and bounds are 'free'. If it's freedom that you are after, you must first free your mind (+ the consistent action).

4- Consistency: Honing the craft is what sharpens your marketing skills.

5- Focus: Focus on (1) marketing method and become a master. Sadly the majority of new marketers will try to 5 -10 different strategies without mastering any.

This is what you would call spreading your focus thin.

6- Getting Paid for RESULTS: Most people have grown accustomed to 'trading' time for money. And most feel that just because they spend X amount of time each week learning in theory...that They should be paid for this time.

We only get paid for our results in this industry.

7- Perseverance: If you believe that it's going to take you X amount of time to succeed...Times that by 10 (and then some) It's going to take some doing indeed.

Most people don't really understand how much consistent implementation is required but if they truly did...they would either quit this industry altogether or Excel in it).

Yes it does seem to be a lot for Online Success but the end result can mean freedom for those who are 'willing' to follow through.

    But isn't it worth It?

There's nothing controversial about your question. Everyday people want to learn how to start a business online. It doesn't matter the niche. But if you wrote an ebook about "building home fish aquariums"... isn't the next necessary step is to learn how to market this ebook (on the internet) to people looking to build fish aquariums? This is why people go into the IM niche everyday. We sell to business owners. People who have discretionary income to spend on the low cost, but high price products/services that we create.

  • There are many lucrative niches out there to make money online.

    The big niches are:

    * Weight loss
    * Dating & Relationships
    *Make money online

Each have sub niches that you can narrow down into and specialise in. So most online marketers make money online in there main niches, and they begin to notice a common thread about marketing online.

It's the online marketing practices that successful online business owners package and sell to newbies such as yourself.

It's best to have a mentor when entering a new niche. Learn by the trials and errors from your mentors, and you will shorten your learning curve.

You have to pick up a factor, a sector of IM and master it.

For me, it's email marketing, which, in fact, is the backbone of every im business if you see.

And give the opportunity to 'learn the method' to build a business around everything which has enough demand.

Even if i started in weight loss niche in my native language.
