Personally, think that eCommerce is dead unless you have a product that is not sold on Amazon, eBay, Aliexpress etc ...

Otherwise, i prefer 2 (Adword) and 3 (Facebook ad)

    That's a loaded question.

If you want to build a nice income online, a life-changing income, you need all of these. You can start from anywhere, really. Whatever your time and budget allows you to start with.

I would say Affiliate Marketing is the best way, if you really want to hear a specific answer. And the concept is simple, choose a profitable niche, pick high conversting affiliate products, put together a high converting funnel for a lead magnet to build your list, drive targeted traffic, make money, and reinvest back into the business model to keep increasing revenue and profits.

This making money online stuff does not have to be too complicated.
At the beginning, I thought making money online with a blog was super super hard. Not anymore. Learn the art of making money online blogging - step by step - HERE.

You had some good answers above.

    1. You have to sell something to make money online period!
    2. You have to get whatever you are selling in front of people who actually want it ( meaning potential buyers )
    3. Use the 80/20 rule if you have not read the book it is a good read you can pick it up on Amazon. Marketers tend to waste a lot of time doing low value $10 hr work when they should be concentrating on the $100 - $1,000 hour work which means the activities that directly translate into sales.

Examples: Listbuilding, pay per click, product creation, etc...

Concentrate on what you are good at and outsource the rest.

If you are not good at something somebody else is.

As far as my traffic strategies go I do everything meaning free @ paid traffic but I mostly concentrate on paid traffic these days it is scalable once you are making more than you spend then scale.

Or turn the traffic faucet on

All the above. Offering a product and or service that everyone wants or needs is a great place to start and popular.

People forget, key is unique content and getting 100,000s plus unique visitors daily high quality - to your website from genuine, real human website traffic, from my point of its one of the most important things. With out real millions of visitors of genuine website traffic, it's a lost cause. I can't emphasise on getting real people website traffic enough. It is cruicial. In saying that, people need a genuine reason to go to your website to view the information they need or buy the reduction they want

There's no best way to make money, but I can see where you're going with the question. I think you're overwhelmed and just want to know a battle-tested way to earn income online? If that's the case my advice is to take a couple of weeks at a minimum and study the market hard. You should know all of the key players along with the ways on how to make money in the niche. Every market is different so there's no one size fits all.

SEO is the latest method of making money in the digital world. it is a market of 20 billion dollars. but the selection depends on your budget...with money, go for Ecommerce and also running ads on the site. SEO is time taking but even without budget you can earn.

Blogging is still good. There are loads of relatively uptapped niches. I found an enormous new niche the other day - shame I'm too busy to fully exploit it.

I'm also trying video. OK so I'm not likely to get rich when the advertising CPM is $2 and my niche is not a mainstream one. But YouTube could be great at lead generation. At the moment my first goal is to get at least one video view every single hour of the day.

I have to say that in my first 9 days of making videos, I've had a lot more results than I ever got from my first 9 days of blogging.

I've also been building a list. It seems good for engagement. I've not hit my subscribers with any offers yet though.

Ecommerce + Facebook ads + physical products either imported or dropshipped. I like Fbook ads the best because you can test immediately with little spend. Everything scales out from there. You can start an ecommerce site for $30, spend as little as $25/day testing potential products on fbook. There quite simply isn't an easier or cheaper way to test products, sell online with potentially 0 inventory. In fact, if you want to skip all of that, here's a juicy tip. Crank up 1 website in any niche, find a huge wholesaler or dropshipper, and just load it up with their .csv file. Last year I loaded up a store with 40,000 products, did 0 marketing, 0 SEO (Just some light formatting of CSV), 0 anything, and it was a sales machine...not kidding. My abandoned carts were something like $20K alone, just in the month of December. If that doesn't scream easy opportunity or show the awesomeness of ecomm, nothing will.

    Hi TenaciousGrease,

The best way to make money in 2018...
I really think the correct answer is: it depends!

First step will be to determine if you want to create your own product or if you want to sell other people's products.

Creating your own product may cost you a lot of time, money and frustration, while promoting other peoples products is something you can start doing instantly. It's called affiliate marketing and you will get paid a commission on the sales you refer.

The advantage with affiliate marketing is that you don't have to deal with product development, copywriting, payment processers, customer support etc. Those are tasks that will make most newbies "give up" in the process.

When you have decided if you want to go with product creation or affiliate marketing, you'll have to determine how you want to get eyeballs on your offer... (traffic generation).

Do you want to use "free" traffic strategies or do you want to use paid traffic strategies. The "free" traffic strategies include SEO, blogging, Facebook group posting, pinterest etc. The paid traffic strategies include PPC on Facebook, Google, YouTube or anywhere else.

When determining the best choice for you, it's all about if you want to invest most money or most time.

Paid traffic is fast and predictable, but it may cost you a lot in the beginning where you're buying data, to find some profitable keywords or interests.

"Free" traffic isn't really free because it costs you time. But what is amazing is the possibility to generate free leads month after month by creating good and valuable content.

What's most important when you want to make money online is:
Product + Traffic = Conversions (money)

If you're new to online marketing, I'll recommend you to start out with affiliate marketing. My new report may help you in the process (in my signature).

To sum it up. You want to provide value to the marketplace with a quality product and in the process you will build your own email list.

I think that creating a good relationship with your list is fundamental to have a successful online business.

Some great and interesting posts here.
I think that the basics are the same as usual: find a demand and fill it.

Use Google Trends to see what is popular and then see if Amazon has that item for sale.
If you are an Amazon affiliate you can then be one of the first people to promote it.

Go one step further and post a video on Youtube connected to it - as the first video will often stay at the top of Youtube's search engine for months - giving you a lot of free traffic!

    Best Regards

Selling something again and again is even better. Remember phones where you used to have to drop a coin to speak to someone and some wise guy would drop a quarter he'd tied to a string so he could pull it out after he got connected?

    Something like that.

Something missing from this discussion is this:

What skill set(s) do you have? Isn't that important to success? If for instance, you can't write a lick and hate to even attempt to put thoughts down on paper, then a career blogging is not a good choice for you.

What resources and money do you bring to the table? If you can't afford to do paid advertising, for example, then PPC and FB ads probably isn't a good choice for you either.

What I'm suggesting of course . . . is that we're all different, with different skills, capabilities, ambitions, work ethics, and goals. No one business model is going to be "best" for everyone. Such a declaration ignores "you" and what you can do and like to do . . . and that is critical to your online profitability. You are the business!

Product creation. The best way I've found is

    1. Find a niche you know
    2. Record a ebook or video course for a good price
    3. Spread the word via shout outs and social media
    4. Have realistic expectations.

My first product was a dating ebook I wrote in 2011, that still makes me money. I was a dating coach for years and had many contacts. Use this, run PPC campaigns and videos on YouTube.A blog on the topic is helpful to.

Of all the things you've mentioned, 4 (Ecom) is the only real thing bring sold. The rest are just ways to market and sell it.

Which is only half of the equation -- but raises a good point.

Picking a good product/service - That's step 1. Figuring out a marketing plan (from the rest of the options you listed) and mastering it - that's step 2. As long as you research what's working now (or has worked long-term), master it, put it into practice...along with an overall marketing should see results.

There are lots of other options you didn't mention that could have just as easily been added to your list (so I guess they're technically 6. Other?) marketing, Bing ads, etc.
