Affiliate Marketing in FinTech industry - are you in or not?

I would like to ask you - Affiliate Marketers - what do you think about the affiliate or partner programs in this quite difficult industry as financial technology and SaaS.
I've heard a lot of opinions about that from: "It doesn't care what industry or technology are you working for, the most important is product" to "it depends on commissions", and to be honest I don't know what are the real blockers for affiliate marketers from starting a deal with i.e. payment gateway platform. Is this because of a industry which is not too easy to promote? Or is it about B2B mostly? Or maybe commissions or fees are too small? What do you think? What are your experiences?
