What would be the best target group for my project

I created an app called Mimic. With Mimic people can challenge people to copy moves, photos, videos, selfies or anything else! Think of ice bucket challenge, Kylie Jenner lip challenge...

The app is made of a split screen - a top half and a bottom half. The top half of the screen is what we call the "original" video/photo. The bottom half is where people post their photo/video copying original one.

I'm trying to figure out whom to market this kind of concept. I was thinking of teens and students but I'm not sure of they're the best group to target. Maybe I should target some sub-cultural groups and their influencers, it might be easier to penetrate that market first.

What do you think of targeted groups or maybe you think differently?

I think you have a big market for that app, but you can do some test investing little money and then scale it up

Profitable marketers sell into demand. They research the marketplace, identify groups of people that have problems, pain points, needs, or desires, then focus on selling their solutions "into" the demand they have already identified in that marketplace. They will know where they can contact these people online through their research

Demand is extremely difficult to create from nothing unless you have lots of money, time, and resources to establish your brand and product.

So do some research online and locate people that are asking for what you are offering. If you don't find anyone, you don't have a targeted marketplace and sales will be "hit and miss" at best.

Always go into product development understanding exactly what the marketplace is desiring so you can create a solution that solves the common problem of the targeted audience.

What moved you to create it?

Why would someone pay money to mimic someone else?

(Yeah, I know, it's fun for some people... But which ones? Who do you know who'd love your app and has a couple of dollars to spend on it?)

    Drunk frat boys?

I am baffled that you created something first, then thought of who would want it.

That's an interesting niche. Maybe try using Facebook's audience insights to identify group targets. To be honest. I think it will be tough to discover. Use everything at your disposal (google keyword planner, google suggest, seorush etc) to find your ideal target market.

  • Scrap the project. Never create a product first then go in search of someone to sell it to. That's backwards. As a marketer, always find a group of people who are looking for something - then give it to them. Its NOT about you.
