MONDAY, OCT. 12 - Anyone available to do quick revisions to an html web site?

Hi Warriors,

I'm in need of someone who is able to do some quick changes and tweaks to an existing html web site.

The changes need to be made by approximately 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009.

Here are the things that need to be done (I'll provide the details to whoever ends up doing the job):

1. When I am on any page of the web site and click "home," it does not take me home. It gives me an error message. This needs to be fixed so "Home" actually goes home.

2. The headers across the top and the navigation menu on the margin no longer appear on the home page. They are just fine on all of the other pages, so we need to fix it so the header and navigation bar show up on the home page again.

3. Need to add an opt-in box in the header so it appears on every page of the site.

4. In the navigation bar, need to delete three links (and the pages that go with them), add a link to a new page, and add a link to a blog.

5. On one page, correct a broken link and move one short paragraph up higher on the page.

6. On another page, delete two photos and replace them with a short video that I am creating.

7. On another page, add an opt-in box (a separate opt-in box than the one that should appear at the top of each page in the template).

8. Correct a broken link at the bottom of the template, so it appears on each page.

10. Install WordPress and tweak the theme with my site's header so it will have a consistent look.

Please shoot me a message if you are interested, but only if you are totally comfortable with getting the job done quickly.

Also, please give me an idea of how much you would charge to take care of this (in US dollars).

Thanks so much!

Jill

Yup. No problems there. Been studying under the "great ones" re: local SEO, and this site has consistently ranked high in Google organic searches for quite some time.

Just need to get these few items tweaked.

          Thanks.

    Hi Jillian

My honest thoughts are the website programming is a mess for instance
    <P><imgsrc="homepage1.gif" align=right width="250" height="146">
<P>What's A Greeting Yard? We're southwest Missouri's original lawn greetings

rental service, offering a fun alternative to sending bouquets of flowers,

balloons, cookies or candy - a gift

    they'll never forget!

    <P>
There is paragraph tags all over and not actually closing the tags, I personally wouldn't be interested in trying to do a quick fix on the site may find a lot more problems in doing that.

    Sorry.

    Some hints.
The home page link could easily be fixed the same as all the other broken links, they just need pointing to the correct page.

The navigation bar is actually just a picture with a map of link areas do you still have the original graphics. To alter the text of the old pages you no longer require.

I would really look at having the whole site re programed using html and css this would also make it a lot easier to make any changes on in the future.

    Hope that helps

Crap. Well, I guess that's what I deserve for getting a really super cheap deal on that web site's design several years ago, along with a designer who disappeared on me when I needed work done.

The plan is to move the site to my HostGator account and set up a brand new site using WordPress. Totally revamped.

But I was going to wait on that. The priority right now is to make it presentable and put the opt-in boxes in there because I've entered a contest that will probably send some traffic my way. I'm trying to win a pretty hefty prize (not a web design prize -- ha!) and I don't want them to take a look at the mess my site is in right now and figure I don't know what I'm doing because of the site.

Other people have already submitted their entries in this contest and I've looked at their sites. At this point, my poor little site is not going to make a good impression.

The whole contest was a last-minute thing, and I'm just now starting to get the ball rolling for my relaunch. Otherwise, I would have had it in good shape before I even thought about entering the contest. But the prize is too fabulous to pass up.

This site just recovered from being hacked with a bunch of porn files in it. It was damaged somehow along the way, and the header and navigation disappeared from page 1.

OK here is another option. Tell me if this would work.

Set up a quick WordPress CMS sales page as the home page, with my opt-in box (because I should have had an opt-in box all along, but haven't -- and in this contest if I don't have an opt-in box, I'm pretty much dead).

Use the top header from the site that's already up, for the sake of consistency.

Leave the other pages of this site alone with their "/pagename" names.

It wouldn't be perfect (and it would not be a long-term solution) but would it give me the home page that I need in order to make a good impression for this contest?

For this contest, when people see my video submission and then visit my site, I need for them to see that I have the opt-in box and the video (that I am almost finished with and will have ready to load).

Those are the top priorities for now, and the revamp will come later.

I don't want to move the site from its current hosting to my HostGator account because I don't want to risk it being down at any time while this contest is going on.

My contest submission goes in Monday night and I'm not sure how long it will take for the judges to make a decision. Anywhere from a couple of days to four weeks. So I won't be doing the big revamp of this site for a little while.

        Hope that makes sense.

The issue with the home page is the fact that the header and side bars was being placed on the page by server code #include virtual="plug1.txt" .style1 { COLOR: #ff00ff; FONT-WEIGHT: bold}#include virtual="plug2.txt" .

This could be fixed by simply recoding the page at the start.

Have you got the code for the optin boxes ready?
