Quick, easy, unique and/or funny marketing tips

Let's have some short and quick marketing tips. They can be actual tips or theoretical, if they are interesting.

One of my favorites is for beach front businesses. Have some thongs (for your feet) made with the name of your business embedded on the bottom and give them out to people. Then when they walk in the sand the name of your business will be imprinted in the sand all over the beach with your business name, something like "Kurt's Pizza".

Have any quick marketing tips you'd like to share?

If you offer digital downloads as products, try this naming system which I use:

    !ProductName-Website.com

! - The exclamation mark is the first alphabetically, which means anytime someone looks in the folder your product is downloaded to, your product will be listed first assuming they have sorted the folder by "name".

Product Name - Don't use initials. You know the name of the product but your customers may forget after a little time. Make it easy for them to find your product again.

Website.com (or your name) - Use this to brand either your site or yourself. Again, every time people visit the folder with your product they will see your name or your website's name. (Only do this if you have a quality product!!!)

    My products look something like:
    !GreatProduct-KurtMelvin.pdf

They have a good chance of being listed first because they start with an exclamation mark, tell people what the product is, and brand me every time they see the product.

    Fast and effective URL redirect...

Let's say you want to "cloak" your affiliate links or redirect people for a variety of reasons. Instead of using a site like Bit.ly, which screams AFFILIATE LINK, try this:

It works best with a .info domain name and a domain register that offers sub domains and redirection. NameCheap works well for this.

Here's the formula for your domain name:
    com-GenericWord.info

The domain name must start with com-, including the hyphen.

Then add a generic word like "Article", this will take some creativity and research to come up with a good word or phrase that can work with a variety of keywords.

Let's assume our domain name is com-article.info

Now we can create subdomains in our Namecheap admin for just about any subject and they will look like:
    PlasmaTVs.com-article.info
    Dogs.com-article.info
    Health.com-article.info

This make it appear that dogs.com is the domain name, giving your link more credibility. You can redirect this subdomain anywhere you want.

Important note: Do NOT use name brand names as subdomains, you could well get in trouble This isn't about "jacking authority". It's about creating subdomains that look interesting to people, the ability to use keyword relevant links for a wide variety of niches, and more getting clicks and redirecting people without having to use a site like Bit.ly.

Here's one. Don't let your going out of business sale be the first and only time you ever used marketing for your business.

    Fast way to write articles....

This only works using the Google Chrome browser.

Go to Google Docs and create a blank document:
    https://docs.google.com/

Add a table with two columns.

In the left column copy/paste research you've found on the web. Don't simply copy/paste a single entire article, unless you have full rights to do so, such as if it's PLR or Public Domain, etc.

In the right column use Google's speech to text function to create a unique article in your own words.

Copy/paste the content in the right column into a web page, blog post, email, etc.

Google's speech to text function is really good and fast and a great tool for creating content.

    Segment To Dramatically Improve Results

It's often VERY advantageous to segment people. Not only can this result in more clicks, but each can build more psychologically targeted resources for future marketing opportunities. In other words, not only will you very likely get more clicks, sales and email subscribers, you'll be able to target them better.

With strong segmenting of your viewers you will have two offers instead of one, and often BOTH offers will perform better than a single offer with no targeting.

The same is true for building email lists. With good segmenting you can often build two lists where both will be bigger, and better targeted, from the same amount of traffic

Plus, with segmenting you can customize content that is more useful for them. A true win/win.

Below is an example of how you can create a Call To Action that segments your viewers:

Some more examples of ways to segment viewers of your videos:

Smoking is harmful to your health:
Click Here To Quit Smoking Entirely || Click Here To Learn About Electric Cigarettes

    Body Building Secrets
Click Here To Lose Weight || Click Here To Gain Weight

    Ultimate Marketing Tips
Experienced Marketers Click Here || Newbie Marketers Click Here

You can use this segmenting strategy in videos, links, email squeeze pages and more. It should be obvious to all marketers just how valuable this can be.

That's what you got out of the post? I can see I'm wasting my time with this thread. That was a pretty powerful marketing tip.

I didn't read most of it ― just didn't like the image. I dropped a load of money recently on a "Graphic Designer" and they did the same/similar "Subliminal Crap."

          I wasn't impressed.

I suggest you read my post, as it contains a very effective marketing strategy. Then you might understand that the image is nothing more than an example. And other than smiles, which can be important in many situations in marketing, there's no subliminal message.

The "Almost Like Magic" Amazon Review Trick

Here's a strategy that really works. It's not only simple, fast and easy, it's also a very potent way to address both the psychological wants, needs AND fears of buyer.

Let's say you're creating a "how to make money from green energy" product, sales page or video.

Go to Amazon.com and find two similar products similar to your offer. Look for one with a lot of bad reviews and one with a lot of good reviews.

Just by reading the comments concerning both, you know what to put in your video and what to leave out. You just need to address the major issues and benefits brought up by both sides.

Copy/paste the sentences containing the best recommendations and worst criticisms into your script or sales copy, modifying and changing them to fit your own needs and style.

Amazon comments are great for FREE "customer satisfaction" research to help create videos, info products, squeeze pages, as well as sales letters. This technique lets you know what's important to people that are buying similar products and lets you easily address the positives and negatives in your marketing materials.

Other good resources for free "customer feedback" for products and services are review sites like Yelp and Google Reviews. If you are creating a video to generate leads for a local plumber, research the biggest complaints and best compliments for plumbers and address them in your video.

Here's one I see ignored way too often...

Given a choice of being crystal clear or marvelously clever, choose crystal clear every time.

    Here's another...

Don't kill a successful ad or campaign just because you're sick of looking at it.

    Last one for now...

Stick to one powerful idea at a time. It's much harder to confuse people on what your message is.

(If I followed my own tips, this would have been three separate posts.)

    Hey I like that one!

    It's clever!

Another great way of marketing for an offline business would be T-Shirts with a catchy quote and then the company's name at the bottom. You can follow the same concept, give them away for free and encourage people to wear them. The key to make people wear them would be in the quality of the shirt, right!

This reminds me of a cartoon I saw in a magazine once.

A pretty, well-endowed girl was walking down the sidewalk as a pair of adolescent boys was walking the other way. The girl was wearing a t-shirt that said something like "Stay In School."

The caption was "Don't look, dude. It's just a trick to get us to read."

Which leads to my next trick...if you can convince attractive young women to appear at crowded places, like the beach, concert, etc. wearing your promo shirt in a size too small, you can generate a lot of attention.

        .
Similar idea...in some situations it may be good to give homeless people tee shirts with your business name on them.
