JV's Reviews & Constructive Criticism...
Since I came back online (after having the summer off), I've had a number of requests to review different products etc with a view to either giving a testimonial or sending out a promotion. That's cool and thanks for thinking about me folks.
What I wanted to mention is how some people approach others via pm on the forum. (It leaves me a tad gobsmacked at times)..
Question..
How would you approach someone if you want to do business with them. (And asking for a review etc for a testimonial for a WSO is doing business BTW). Do you ask nicely, or do you shoot off a few lines in a pm as if you are doing THEM the favour?
I've been the recipient of both types of pm's and the latter never fail to amaze me. And rightly or wrongly, I ignore them.
It's also a cool idea to thanks someone when they give you some constructive criticism. Don't get pissed because someone didn't like your stuff. Learn from the experience and make any changes needed. (Some of us do know what we're talking about on occasion).
A barrage of abuse doesn't help, neither does the stony silence cos you got offended because your "online baby" was criticised. That constructive criticism might be the difference between you getting a lot of refund requests or not.
Also if I think your product isn't all that good, (as some haven't been), please don't be offended if I can't give you your testimonial. I have my reputation to think about. Just because you sent it for free doesn't mean I owe you anything. (Is this ringing any bells for some...)
So how do you ask for a JV?
Be courteous
Make it as easy as possible for the person your asking to access the product you want them to review etc
Give a full background on everything to do with the product (I find that helps a lot)
Ensure they know upfront what their commision level is (Why make them ask)
Don't ask them to promote it for free. Why should they, we're all marketers here.
Don't be offended at a refusal, just move on.
Be interested to hear what others think should be included in this
Cheers
Kim
