Should I be feeling like this

With the new FTC guidelines should I be feeling less motivated to work Online.

The problem is with me also working 9-5 in a office and also haaving 2 kids i don't get much time to work online, but these new guidelines have made me less motivated to work online with the little time I have, like after work for a couple of hours, and I don't know if i should be thinking like this.

I am still only new to this game.

Your thought would be welcome as I need motivating.

Kind regards
#feeling

If you are feeling like that it is for a reason, and it may be that there is a certain part of you that does not want to work at being self employed after a hard days work for someone else. The new FTC guidelines will not stop you making a good living online if that is what you want, but that living is a business it is not a hobby, if you want to create a business then you are going to have to create one and before you do that you have to set aside time to get an education and learn about certain aspects of IM.

Not everyone has the capacity to be self employed it is a mindset, the first thing you have to decide is what you want because to learn how to be a success at anything will take work and it means losing a certain amount of quality family time. I have no wish to deter you but the future is in your hands and yours alone and no amount of regulations can change that fact.

Should you wish to succeed there is plenty of help here.

I'm not sure why you think you should have problems with the FTC guidelines. They are a US enforcing body and you are in the UK.

Whilst I'm not saying they can't come after you especially if you have your hosting etc in the US, I'd imagine they would want to sort stuff out in their own backyard first.

If you keep your nose clean, don't use false testimonials and make exagerated claims etc then no reason why you should fall foul of anyone

      I'd agree with this.

Whilst, as you say, if you have hosting in the US then it's a bit trickier, but as long as we use common sense and don't make false claims, I don't think anyone will say anything. Heck, if I use common sense and don't lie, but the FTC try saying something, I'll just move my hosting out of the USA. *Shrugs*

Sometimes the US law agencies like to suggest that their laws extend beyond the US, but they don't.

For example, the COPPA law (which is a good law, infairness). When I owned a large site/forums (but had hosting in the USA) I had to comply to some extent with the COPPA law. But as a British citizen, with a British owned site/forums, and with many British members, I didn't feel the need to go OTT with the compliance.

I just put a line in the user agreement saying - "If you sign up here, hence agree to this agreement, you agree to the COPPA law - that is, if you are an American citizen, you must be over 18 or be over 13 with parental conest."

That was enough for me since, as above, I'm British, it was a British site, and it wasn't targetted at American citizens.

I was a little harsh earlier and although I stand by my post it was not all that helpful. If you need to get started and need free hosting I will offer you gree hosting for six months and also mentor you to get you started. There are no strings to that offer you get a start and after six months you can move your site to somewhere else or I will charge oyu the going rate from then on

    Hi blueclcl!

I understand how limited your time is - I'm in the same boat...

However, if you really do want to make money online you must have the right mindset. You must believe - at the very least - that it is possible to make money online - and it IS

Yes, we will all have to be careful with these new FTC guidelines and it will make a difference to how we approach Copywriting.

But if you start your online business the way you SHOULD - by building a List of subscribers and developing a good relationship with them by continually overdelivering - when you try to sell to them it won't take too much persuasion. You won't need testimonials - your List will have learnt to trust you.

Hope this encourages you a little...
