Sounds good, but harder to achieve in reality. Good post though - only if you're practicing what your preaching.

First thing might be to get your maths right.

    7 pages?

    Million dollars a year?

Were you trying show how many products you need to sell to make a million?

Also in a subscription model there is usually a periodic payment and a churn rate which compounds the subscription value.

There isn't one internet marketing formula but many different models and processes that can work to help you build a business.

    Best regards,

Why so harsh? Why can't you say, Content is king of plebs?

For people who say content is king, what, exactly, do you mean?

Ozi, did you wake up too early? I am asking because the answer is really simple.

You sell one Falcon 7X Jet as an affiliate of amazon.com (Shouldn't be too hard to convince amazon to sell Falcons, they love money, after all) and, if you throw in a couple of cushion-y seat cushions, at amazon's 4%, you've got yourself your mil.

A very good list, but the reality is somewhat different.

If the purpose of your post was to provide intrigue and to perhaps begin to demonstrate some of the back-end planning that goes into designing a $1M business - then good job.

The challenge we had when we started (many years ago) and have since worked one-by-one and also is the challenge we see in many people we work with are:

    1. Picking the niche markets, problem spaces and topics that will lead to an ebook that sells 200 copies (in total let alone per month :-)

    2. Knowing how to reach and then convert your market into buyers so you don't lose thousands on traffic before selling anything substantial

    3. Understanding the details of having these products created...right from outline through to actual finished product

    4. Advanced marketing techniques to scale your business - on the customer acquisition side as well as on the product development and support sides.

So yes, what you say is a good, high-level plan...devil is always in the details which is where we typically meet the market :-) j

Again, content is a pleb. Plebeian, a commoner.

Content is not king. there is content everywhere, like salmon swimming upstream.

if anything, Your content should be more like a gladiator. After all content has to COMPETE with other people's content. It's the Google RANKINGS after all.

Why would he/she/they be kidding? Paying $997 for a course can be a great investment. A $9.97 course can be a complete waste of money.

It's not the price that determines the value of a course. Honest.

Put another way, they make and sell Ferrari's though there are Honda Civics out there too.

You really don't have a solid internet marketing business plan, unless you break the numbers down like that, in some way or form.

Without a product creation formula with actual income targets attached, you won't be able to see which type of information product to launch, in order to meet your financial goals.

        Sheldon,

I believe that the type and platform of your info products should be driven by customer demand - the things they will buy, not some income target that allows the creator to reach a random lofty financial goal when he sells X number of units. If you don't give your customers the information they want in the way they want it, they won't choose your alternative.

For example - I, for one, don't care for teleseminars and won't plunk down my credit card if that's how you're going to present your info product to me.

At the end of the day, sales are the result of marketplace demand. If you offer what you want based upon how many sales you want to make, you're going to be greatly underwhelmed by the market's response. This business is all about the prospect/customer ... not you, the product creator.

So does this mean that just because 1 person doesn't prefer to consume information via teleseminars, that teleseminars will become obsolete?

          Steve
Steve, your online sales funnel will obviously have more than one medium in which to package your information that you delivering to your market.

Some people like to learn by reading books, others like learning while running or driving in their car, so they prefer audio, while others prefer watching videos in order to learn a new skill set. So you will want to create your information products in multiple formats, books, audios, and video.

If you are going to create a product for just one audience, then you will be missing the full income potential for the way you could repurpose, and repackage your content.

You are correct in saying that your customers/prospects demands is what inevitably drives sales. Having an income projection to see which product line will best suit your market and your business, is just part of business planning. Who starts a business without setting income goals, and then seeing which products to create to bring to your market, to achieve your income/financial goals?

Originally Posted by Kay King View Post
