Aim for your passions, more profits can be had there then trying to make money off something you have zero passion for.

    Any business model can work.
The most scalable business model is definitely affiliate marketing, but you'll need to educate yourself WELL.

Owning your own product/membership site can be great, but you'll need to be able to religiously provide top quality content. And take this from someone who owns a big membership site...it's not always easy.

You may try something called micro-continuity, which I learned from Russell Brunson.

Continuity programs are great because they give you recurring income over time. You do work once, and you get money for the long term.

But there are problems to continuity programs like, for example:

        1. Creating a secure membership site with username and passwords.
        2. Having constantly updated content that will keep people paying their membership fees. Creating this content can eat up a lot of your time.
        3. People don't like having to cancel their memberships. They feel tied down if your continuity has no ending period in sight.
        Solution?

Make a video squeeze page where you tell your visitors that you will reveal the "#1 secret" about a certain subject.

Once they give you name and email address, you reveal to them the #1 secret" in another video.

Then you tell them that if they liked the video, they can obtain more secrets by signing up to your membership program.

Now, here comes the crucial part:

        1. Make your continuity program limited in time. Tell them that the membership will only last for 3 to 4 months, and that after that, no more billing will occur.
        2. Offer your content through weekly autoresponder emails. This way, you do not need a membership site!!!!!!!!
Even better, you can offer weekly lessons through email, delived either in video, audio, or text format.

By doing it weekly, it means that you have an entire week to work on your next lesson.

This will save you a lot of time.

There are many ways to go about this, but I hope this has sparked off a flame in your mind.

I agree with everyone that mentioned continuity programs.. and yea, they're not easy to set up unless you follow Russell's Micro-C Model like Aitor described above..

I suggest anything in the Information Marketing realm...

R.G mentioned affiliate marketing, but essentially, information marketers are affiliate marketers and vice versa..

The same way no one buys their whole wardrobe from the same store.. not everyone on your list will buy something from you, so you need to offer other people's products as well..

          Hope that help..

I wrote a blog post about this a while back.

    1. Information Marketing - Turn your knowledge, hobbies, and passions into money by creating an information product. An ebook, a set of online videos, software or other digital product.

    2. Ecommerce Website - Retail product. If you're into making soaps or candles or whatever. Setting up an ecommerce retail website is the way to go. Sell your physical products and ship them to your customers.

    3. Affiliate Marketing - Get paid to promote other people's (company's) products and services. Either digital products such as the ones on Clickbank or retail products on Amazon. Even services such as online travel agencies like Travelocity and dating websites like Match.com have affiliate programs. Get paid from making sales or just generating leads (it depends on the company and how they setup the affiliate program.)

There are a lot of great threads here that have more resources about any of these online business models. I hope this helps!

wow I literally just finished writing an article about this on my blog called The Self Help Industry Is Killing Entrepreneurship

What I'm saying is that modeling successful systems is great and an almost guaranteed way to succeed, BUT simply modeling others can really kill the true entrepreneur inside you that would have helped you achieve MUCH greater success.

I wish I read something like this when I was starting out....

On the internet just make special content & attractive web-sites & earn money through it & work hard for it & advertise it as much as you can.

The problem is very obvious. It's in your words. "You are trying". Trying doesn't
get you anywhere at all as you can tell. It does require work and dedication but
also consistency. Because, if your not consitant, then you will fail in the long run.

Just stay focused my friend you will be successful with the right plan of action.

How about this - to simplify it - write articles, drive the traffic to a optin page via
your bio or resource box, then as your list is building, email them affiliate offers.

That will begin building you a solid internet marketing foundation.

From that find out what affiliate products sell the best for you, then
either find more offers just like them or create new ones yourself.

At that point you can start building your continuity programs and bigger ticket
backends. Right now, you don't need to know the answer to this part (as in what
the continuity will be or the backend) - because later it will reveal itself to you.

Bottom line - keep it simple and stay focused.

If your going to actually do what I laid out above, then you'll need the following:

    1. URL or website address
    2. Hosting account
    3. Autoresponder
    4. Optin page
    5. Traffic

Get the URL and hosting from godaddy.com
    Get the Autoresponder from icontact.com
Build the optin page yourself or hire it out with someone like webmasterforhire.biz
Get the traffic from articles you place on ezinearticles and others you find.

I didn't mean to bust your butt, I just hate seeing you working
so hard for so little especially being a pretty good writer.

Here's a good business model that has worked well for more than 2000 years already...

      1. Find out what people want
      2. Give it to them... for a price

Don't be fooled by the seeming simplicity of this model.
Fact is, MANY fail to implement this business model. Mostly for one of two reasons:

1 - They offer stuff that nobody wants

These people skip step (1) of the business model and start with step (2).

Maybe you heard the term "follow your passion"? Well, unless you have a passion for penis extensions, getting your ex back, fixing your windows registry, or getting rid of pimples, you'll have a hard time making money.

      And reason number two is...

2 - They know what people want, they claim to give it to them, but they underdeliver

These people understand step (1) of the business model. However, they ignore the fact, that real human beings (the so-called "customers") are involved in step (2). And customers don't like being fooled.

A famous US politician once phrased this eternal truth like this:
"Fool me once, shame on -- shame on you. Fool me, you can't get fooled again"

In other words... work on your relationship with the customer and everything will be fine.

When it comes to implementing this business model, I would suggest following the path that mbacak outlined before...
