Major Categories of Making Money Online

Hi,

I am trying to write a blog post that is a concise summary of all the major ways of making money online. So far I have been able to condense everything I have found into one of 8 categories, which are:

1. Unskilled Work (testing websites, searching, etc.)
2. Selling Skilled Services
3. Sell Your Own Products
4. Sell the Products of Others
5. Invest Money for a Return
6. Create Content and Monetize it
7. Become an Employee Who Works From Home
8. Arbitrage

Is there anything anyone can think of that doesn't fit into one of these categories?

I already see some conflicts and overlap. For instance, #3, #5, #6, and #7 could all refer to the same book, course, or software I create.

No offence, fastfly, but if you need to ask that question, you're probably not working in the right niche.

I don't say that to be unkind. Each of us should work in niches where we know our way around the topics fairly well.

I notice a lot of marketers jumping into MMO, for instance, before they truly learn enough about IM to create content for MMO.

That's just something to think about.

      Tom,

If you can't think of anything missing from my list then wouldn't that be evidence that I do have some idea of what I'm talking about?

Mainly, I'm trying to get ideas from people on less common and obvious ways of making money online. For example, another category I thought of while reading various posts was online competitions. To me, that seems to be in a different category than all of the other things I listed.

Some categories you mention can be included in some of the other ones you mentioned, but you already have enough. Make a list of the top 5. The bulk of your readers won't take action on it anyway. And if they do, they'll try it, struggle, then declare that you can't make money on the internet. It's a scam etc etc.
