Advice on what to market to a 10,000 list

Hello,

I used to organize tech events and have gathered a list of about 10k people (that work in tech in some capacity) and mostly located in two big US cities. I'm trying to figure out a way to monetize off the list, I've read about potentially selling or marketing particular things to the group, but I'm not sure how to get started. Any best practices on how to go about it? I assume the list would be really valuable for education/professional development/recruiting since those where most of the event themes that these people attended.

Thanks for the help!

I would highly recommend you to Survey this list. Learn more about them first before you start to send any offers. You can use Google Forms (https://www.google.com/forms/about/)

Learn what niches and what topics they are most interested in. Once you know this, you can start to send a little bit of valuable content to them via follow up emails prior to sending your first offer selling something.

I do this myself with my internet marketing list and so far I have been able to get higher conversion because of the strategy. This is the best way to sell to an email list. It is all about genuinely helping the people with things they actually need help with. This is the way to make money online.

Implement this. Test things. Tweak. Improve. And rinse and repeat!

You could approach event promoters and see if they'd be willing to pay a fee to advertise their events to your list. Since these people have already shown they are interested in attending events you can command great prices.

    Hey man !

If the list is old, you probably don't have that many active emails. And, if you've never contacted them, even more.

10K people, in the tech stuff, that's valuable. To give you an idea, 10K people in fitness is worth around 1-2.000$/month for the duration of most emails in that niche, which is around 6 months.

Either, find a product that might interest them, or create a product. You might survey them to get more info on them

I would first try to reactivate these leads. Send them a clever email (or even postcard if you have their address), and create a special campaign. A good free offer should be good enough to engage a relevant portion of the list to connect with you.

First, review if their are all active. Then ask them what kinds of offers or services they want to get from you, just like what FreedomBlogger has suggested You can start from there. -Micah

Hi, you might want to check if your list is till updated and verified. Most contacts on databases and list changes in a short time. It would be best if you'll have to do list verification/data profiling to keep your contacts updated.
