Does the word "network" frighten you away when it's introduced to you?

Guys, does the word "network" frighten you away as a publisher/media buyer when it's first time introduced to you?
Would you react better and trust more if you meet a rep from "marketing agency"/"affiliate platform"/"user acquisition solutions"/whatever/ and you know that you actually deal with an affiliate network?

On condition that you hear of the network for the first time and don't know anything about it.

My quick gut reaction is that I'm going to be even more wary of an entity using some crazy convoluted title that sounds like they're trying to hide something.

A real publisher or media buyer will know what a network is. Odds are, if it's the first time they've heard of this one, they'll ask some tough questions.

But the term itself should not be frightening.

If the prospect is frightened by the word, it means that he's heard it before and it conjures something related to a bad experience.

That's not me, so in my case, I am not frightened by the word. And as John (above) stated, a real publisher/media buyer will know what the word means.

I don't think "trust" is really the issue here. After all, who is going to trust someone on first contact, regardless of what their professional title might be? Trust is earned by performance and isn't usually given based on a title.

    Just my opinion,

I don't know. To me, a name is just a name.
