Where to Market Vegan/ Plant Based eBook

by alanaj
40 replies
I created an ebook with three months of plant based meal plans, recipes, desserts, sauces, soups and additional health information like simple home workouts and plant based protein sources. I have a site set up with a sales page, articles, about, contact etc. The site has gotten great feedback from the small traffic coming in.

Of course I need to increase traffic to get sales.

I'm wondering about E-Junkie for affiliates. After reading through several threads this evening, I am now wondering about Kindle.

Are these two sources realistic for selling a vegan/ plant based ebook?

Are there similar books already being sold there?

The one sure way to find out is to list it.

    Congratulations on that accomplishment!

I would recommend putting your ebook on Clickbank.com. You can then promote to get affiliates to get even more traffic an sales.

If you are looking for free traffic I would recommend to blog on your website. And learn all of the blogging tactics to grow the traffic and build an audience.

You should also start building an email list.

If you are looking for paid traffic I would recommend Facebook Ads and also Quora.com Ads. Quora is actually an untapped paid traffic source. I haven't seen anyone talking about Quora ads anywhere here.

Implement and be consistent with everything!

Thank you FreedomBlogger. The funny thing is, when I first thought about affiliates, I thought about Clickbank. After reviewing their system however, I thought it was quite cumbersome.

Do you have experience with Clickbank?

Thanks also for the tip about Quora.com Ads.

Clickbank is a great place to start - especially since if your affiliates get you a TON of sales 1 particular year, Clickbank will take care of all of the commissions to your affiliates. Other affiliate networks leave this chore up to you - and it can be a doozy - especially handling all of the paperwork when tax season arrives.

If the niche exists, great. Find your targeted customers via:

    - Forums (advertise and participate - only if they allow signature links back to your website)

    - Youtube of course

    - Bing, Adwords, Facebook (PPC)

    - Distributing your content and SEO

    - Joint ventures and solo ads

    - Yahoo Gemini (mobile marketing)

    - Social media and blogging

    Good luck.

Hello and congrats on your book !
I think that Affiliate Marketing would be great generate sales but still if you'd like to take advantage and control your spend, ad copies, placements and targeting (and get to know your audience) you should definitely try AdWords and Facebook. Also, the Video ads and Mobile advertising are the big trend now for quite a lot of time so you would have a lot of room for experiments there. And it is less time consuming than blogging.
    Good luck !

Kindle can work well if you link to additional content and string together a series.

The other thing you could do is produce a hardcopy...many options but createspace can work well if you have kindle and azon listing.

Good thing about hard copy is you can approach organic stores to sell the physical copy and if you work the "additional content can be found here angle" ie link to a website you can push updates and other products.

Having physical copies out there will help with building authority.

You could easily customise some physical copies to each chain of organic shops you approach. . .

. . . they will be much more likely to promote if you dedicate a page to promoting them or products they sell.

Not hard to do and you can easily leave a physical copy with a store providing them with physical proof you are going to help them along of course with having a retail margin in it for them also.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

Kindle is certainly viable here. I don't know much about E-Junkie, however.

I would get it out to the masses on Kindle and start promoting it all over social channels.

I forgot mention that Createspace and Kindle are 2 that you should definitely have your ebook/book on. You'll probably earn more with Createspace than Lulu. Make sure there are links in your ebook that lead back to your website - since Amazon doesn't give you the information of the buyers who purchase your ebook/book.

Randall have you used CreateSpace, Kindle and Clickbank to sell eBooks? If yes, which one do you prefer?

    Hi A,

Definitely KDPselect aka Amazon Kindle. World wide audience, great exposure, fab process for uploading. I wrote and self-published 126 bite-sized ebooks on the platform.

I'd add though; the traffic increase is a good idea. I do not give much attention to hacking Amazon per se. I just guest post a bunch and also promote top bloggers in my niche, along with posting helpful content to my blog. Doing these things helped increase my readership which increased my sales.

I wouldn't recommend Kindle. For something like this, CB would be the most suitable - though it is overwhelming getting everything set up.

Kindle could work, only if you push hard with advertising. Otherwise, if you just publish it, the book will just be another book among millions.

    Fiction works best with Kindle.

I've published on kindle since 2011 - so I'm talking through experience here. I've also launched on CB. I think that would be your best shot.

    Alana,

Find out who the top 10-20 bloggers are who would promote vegan stuff. Other folks with vegan recipe blogs, fitness vegans, etc.

See what aff programs they promote.

I'm not saying that Click Bank is a bad option. Sometimes it is the best option. But there are some spaces where you'll find that most of the top bloggers ... don't promote Click Bank stuff.

These top bloggers ... if you are aiming for success ... are who you want.

I'm talking the folks who get 100K page views or more a month.

People generally won't join Click Bank just to promote one product. They tend to stick with what they know.

So if you find they don't use Click Bank at all?

Putting it up on Click Bank probably wouldn't be the answer.

But it might be. I don't know. I don't know your space. But do some digging.

Meet them where they already are.

    * Kindle book can be priced $2.99 to $9.99

Amazon Kindle would be an excellent place for you to start, but have a link to your site at the beginning and end of the book that will direct them to your website or start building an email list. That way if you start selling different things, you will have a good email list built up and can advertise to them.

I would promote it through niche related FB groups and send them to my video that at the end will lead the viewers to my sales page or Amazon page. Have done this several time and it´s very effective.

Did you market research? If not, conduct keyword research to determine the amount of people searching online for particular niches. l recommend the Pixelfast site, which makes use of the Overture keyword lookup tool. You could also try advanced keyword tools such as Keyword Discovery or WordTracker.

Now, if you want to drive traffic to your ebook sales page, use Google AdWords (it's fast & predictable). I don't recommend free routes since its very much time consuming and sometimes frustrating, you know. Obviously the topic of AdWords optimization is huge, including keyword selection, adcopy optimization and avoiding Google slap penalties. But, before paying for the traffic, you have your landing/sales page written/reviewed by a professional copywriter.

Aim for a 1% conversion rate, which is not unrealistic, but may require ongoing tweaking of certain areas. The sales page is one place you can do things like split testing of headlines and other copy elements and you can do similar tests with the words in your AdWords campaigns. The idea here is to keep testing and tweaking until you break that 1% mark and then keep looking for other ways to drive more traffic to the site. Good luck!

I wouldn't go with Kindle, they'll nickel and dime you on a cookbook.

Either put in the effort and create a hardback book or give it away as a PDF optin and monetize traffic with something else that's niche related.

One other option is to use the recipes as a 30 day subscription site. That could potentially generate 3 sales per unique traffic since you have 3 months of recipes. So, If you need $30 per unique traffic then break it down to $9.95 subscription per month.

Consider sharing even more (free) information (etc.). When your prospects can see that you're sharing great information, they will be more likely to buy.

Maybe start a Blog ... (Called something like "100 Free Health Tips") ... Then recommend them to your eBook.

I know it's been a little while since the post, however:

I still think Amazon is the way to go. You can publish an eBook, paperback and audio version all in the same place.

Amazon generates the most traffic for customers looking to buy books.

Most forums allow for any thread, less than a year, to be posted on. Generally threads within this time frame are still relevant.

I haven't read anything in this site that stated any different.

However, if that is looked down here, I will definitely take that into consideration from here on out.

Mark, I appreciate the reply pointing this out, and suggestion.
