Help: Locating Target Audience

Hey WF users, my first day on Warrior Forum and my first post also...

I want to find internet marketers within the dieting niche.

After some thought I have took a new perspective on a membership concept. I have come to realise it may be better to have my idea developed, and to offer it to other marketers working within diet sector rather than me creating the product and putting it into a funnel to sell to the public. Mainly because its easier to sell to those who are ready prepared and familiar, and although I feel this idea may be of great benefit, I don't really have much authority within this space.

Firstly, can anyone suggest ways to further validate an idea such as this? I understand I may not have thought of everything. Have already checked for other paid ads in google for membership products for the online dieting niche, though I haven't yet found anything as specific as what I have in mind. I really believe my product will provide simplicity and ease of use to the end user(i.e a person looking for a good diet plan), which i think is particularly attractive to my potential client.

I am looking for advice on how to find marketers who are making information products about dieting specifically.

I need to get an idea how many marketers there are in this space trying to launch their own product lines
What the average "successful" marketer in this space has in terms of a customer base
And to know if any of them would value having a 'done for you' membership site that makes their clients life more manageable and increases their chance of completing their course.

I find lots of topics on ppl trying to find out about wordpress plugins for members sites, as I said nothing exactly like I am wanting to offer (though have noticed some ppl looking for a good diet plan will search some terms related to me in adwords, though not high volume searches by comparison to the niche itself)

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any feedback

You can start by joining Facebook groups under this niche, so you can find potential leads. Show them high quality and engaging content that can help you get yourself known and that can lead them to your page -Micah

Not sure I understand, but it seems you have an idea for a product dieters might be interested in, is this right? And rather than create the product yourself, you would like to find some established marketers in the dieting niche to possibly sell your product?

If this is correct, you should spend a few hours at the affiliate sites; Clickbank, JVzoo, WarriorPlus, etc. and search for diet and weight loss products.

This could be where you will find someone interested in adding your product to their back end offers. This way, you plug into existing buyers, existing marketers and if your product is good, you can embed your own backends too.

Thats right. I aim to develop the product, where it makes the marketers job easier and focuses on customer engagement and retention. So its for the established marketer, or the new marketer trying to cut down time and work in the development stage.

Can you tell me anything more about embedding my own backend offers? Do you have experience in doing this?

I don't wish to compete with my clients who give me access to existing buyers... I have offers for the client already to allow them to provide extra services, each at different price points.

    SK Robinson,

Just a couple of quick observations:

1- You mentioned you're in the "dieting niche." I don't agree.

Dieting is a very broad marketplace within the broader "weight loss" category. Dieting is not a niche - it's too general and broad. There are hundreds or thousands of ways to diet, reasons to diet, and problems faced by dieters and they are targeted to different groups or segments of the population. I think you need to drill down and focus on a specific niche or demographic so that the audience you choose to serve will be like-minded and looking for products and help that will fit their same problems and particular situations and circumstances.

When you focus your effort on a specific niche, then it will be much easier to find marketers that are already serving that one audience. Your conversions will be much higher because your marketing and advertising will become focused on only those that you are prepared to help.

2- What do you currently have to offer as a product or course or system if a marketer came to you and wanted to join your membership? ("I really believe my product will provide simplicity and ease of use to the end user"). If all you offer is a diet plan for the end user, why do you want a membership site for Internet marketers? You could simply sell this end user product directly to marketers or even through affiliates and pay them a commission.

The purpose of your membership site, it seems to me, is to provide on-going training, info, products, and help to marketers in your niche ... right? So are you prepared to do that? If you truly want to help other marketers within the niche you choose, it seems to me you'll need to provide ongoing training and support in online marketing of their businesses. How do you plan to do that? You, in essence, are coaching other business owners and not so much end users. Is that what you are qualified to do? Is that what you want to do?

3- Putting myself in the shoes of a marketer of diet products (your prospects) ... I have to ask myself four questions:
    • What experience do you have with both dieting and online sales?
    • What do I get for my (monthly) membership fee?
    • Why should I trust you? How do I know your service is worth it?
    • Show me others that are currently benefiting from your service.
SK, I'm not trying to be negative about your idea ... I'm merely bringing up some issues you should consider based on what you've said about your plan to help other marketers sell in this very competitive online space.

    The best to you,

Thanks for your input here, I always appreciate objections or a challenge to an idea that brings new perspective. To answer your questions and respond to your statement I would say that:

      1. I believe I said diet niche considering that membership platforms in themselves can be offered to a whole range of sectors, mine specifically is aimed at working with people in the online diet industry alone, not for any other reason why a marketer would want to use a membership platform ie its purpose built for marketers within online dieting space.

      2. I dont feel I can answer as I think you may have miss understood my intentions as i do not intend to teach marketers anything about MMO or coaching / dieting, rather provide them with productive solutions to run their business more efficiently/effectively/ effortlessly. (whats more adding greater value to the end user makes it in turn more valuable to the marketers I am targeting)

      3. Misunderstanding of (2) perhaps changes the subset of questions you have for me here slightly.

I am particularly interested to know:

      1. What others on this forum do to validate their ideas
      - from the point of having an idea, what is the next step of the process others take whom have experience with this kind of work

      2. Are there any examples you can think of where someone has used a business model where a product is created for marketers to use and sell, particularly where it has had some success.

      3. Are there any reasons why what I am proposing won't work, because of the sector I am aiming for or because the idea of selling to marketers in this way is unrealistic etc... anything at all.

I suppose before going into hours of development and spending money to work with other developers I am measuring its chances of success by asking the marketing community one here some questions.

I know I need to reach out to more people I intend to target. I feel that I will need a minimum viable product to show and convince them, otherwise its all really just hypothetical. So my first port of call has been to connect with other marketers out there to shed some light before spending my summer as a recluse building an MVP.

Thanks for offering your time and input, definitely most grateful

If you are selling something, do not sell it to people who need it, sell it to people who want it and who are already spending money for something similar.

because most of these guys don't realize that they have a problem related to weight. Even if they realize it, they do not consider it a serious enough problem to do something about it. Even if they think it is a serious problem, perhaps the cost that you are asking for your solution is more than what they are already spending (home remedies, dieting etc that cost almost nothing) and so on. You get the idea.
These guys are not searching for a new product to buy.

    Good Luck!
