How to turn traffic into reasonable conversions

Hello everyone. I'm new here. I'm into affiliate marketing health niche.
A short brief about me.. I started affiliate marketing few months ago.. I thought it was something you could start without spending a dine. Majority of YouTube videos tell you that its possible. I got to see the truth later on from another youtuber and ditched the no spending attitude..

so fast-forward to now... i have a website, and a Facebook page.. they are the most active. I started driving traffic to my site but no sales yet. I know I'm missing something.. but not sure what. I've spent well over my 200$ budget and I'm down to my last 100$ before i become broke as hell.. I just need some ideas that will turn my traffic into sales.. My plan was to make at least 500$ profit this month.. I still kinda believe its feasible tho.. But i need the advice from the gurus here.. I'm really open to all suggestions and advice.. I'm a beginner and don't really know much about email marketing or ad-words or solo ads although I'm about to start learning. Please your advice is highly needed.. thanks

    Hi Kingspark,

What value are you giving your visitors before you try to sell them something?

How are you building the relationships between yourself and your prospects?

What irresistible offers are you making to entice someone to buy?

    Kinds regards,

    Ozi

Hello sir. I've never really thought of it.. but i don't think I'm giving them much value apart from the review i write based on the product.

I've not given the customers any special offers really.. but i will put that into place immediately..

I'm currently gathering information on building an email list.. maybe i can start attracting customers from there.. thanks once again sir

    Well Kingspark,

Hard to say what's going wrong, without seeing what's going on.

It could be as simple as sending people to the wrong page on your site.

Are you sending traffic to an opt-in page? So you can offer them a compelling freebie, in exchange for their email address (which you can then start an email marketing campaign)?

Or are you sending them directly to a sales page? Because if you are, unless your offer is unique, or irresistible (bigger, better, faster, less expensive... ?) then trying to sell too quickly can often turn people off, in a hurry.

If it's a sales page, are you at least answering the 3 basic questions, for the possibility of a sales conversion ?...

    1 - What is it?

2 - Why would I want it? (or why do I need it?)

    3 - Can I trust you?

Because if I don't understand what it is... and if I don't think I want it (or need it)...and if I'm not sure I can trust you... Then no sale will ever be possible.

Or, are you just sending people to an informational page? Where you can present yourself as a knowledgeable authority in your niche, and then recommend (affiliate) products related to whatever your page is talking about?

It could also be a simple disconnect between the message in your ads, and the message they're finding after clicking through to your site?

Simple Example: if your ad talks about losing weight, so I can look good on the beach this summer... But your landing page talks about losing weight for health reasons...

Those are both good reasons to lose weight. But if I clicked on the ad for a particular reason, and your page didn't address that same particular reason, then there's a disconnect.

    Disconnect = confusion...
Confusion = friction in the buyers journey...
Friction = me clicking away without you getting a conversion.

So, I'll reiterate my first statement, Kingspark...

Hard to say what's going wrong, without first seeing what you're doing.

Do you have a link to (or a sample of) the advertisements your using? (the ones you're spending money on to drive traffic?)

And a link to your site?

Maybe someone here can take a quick look, and see if anything obvious stands out.

    All the best,
    SAR

Hello sir. Thank you for your comment.

I don't send them directly to the product website. I send them to an information page about the product.. where i also drop my affiliate link to the main product page

concerning the 3 basic questions, i answer number 1 & 2 on my info page. As for number 3, although I've not given it much thought, i do assure them that the product has worked for thousands of people although it seems its not compelling enough

My ads are always on the same phase with my pages..

Thanks a lot for your comment sir.. I will start making modifications immediately.. Thanks once again

You cant expect to make $500/month off an initial $300 investment. Few questions:

    1) What is your niche?

    2) How much is your product price?

    3) Are you doing opt-in lead generation?

    4) Are you sending them directly to your product sales page?

        Yes, it is.

You send people to a squeeze page offering some kind of freebie like a report or video in exchange for their email address. You then follow up with them through use of a series of emails.

Few people will buy on first contact.

    Narrow down more.

Health is not a niche, it is a market. A specific health issue is a niche. Like, Acne. That's a niche. Even more niche ... Young men 18-29 who still have humiliating acne.

    That's where you start.

    With a narrow niche.

Everything else falls into place from that start.

Especially if you are on a low budget, you have to be very specific. So things become obvious.

Like, if the niche was young men 18-29 with humiliating acne ...

You know that it screws with their self esteem.

That right there helps you write content that can sell.

You talk about how much it screws with their self esteem and that there might be a solution.

You get traffic from places where men 18-29 would hang out.

Now I am not saying "target that specific niche." Just an example of how actually having a niche makes everything else fall into place.

    Does that make sense?

When you are really niche ... really narrowed down ... everything becomes clear on what to do. And it is ONLY when you niche like that ... that spending $ 300 to make back $ 800 so you have a $ 500 profit is possible.

    Broad?

Your best scenario is to make back like $ 1.10 per $ 1 spent.

That would be if you are an expert marketer and you know that the backend is where you are going to bank hard.

    Till then?

You have to NARROW it down. A LOT.

    Until you do that?

    Confusion.

But figure out a narrow focus and everything becomes OBVIOUS.

Weight loss is still very, very broad. You still need to niche down further. I'm a 60 year old man with a keg instead of a six-pack. My weight loss issues are very different than those of a twenty-something woman trying to lose that last five pounds of baby weight. And her issues are much different than a high school wrestler trying to make weight.

Unless you can narrow your niche down enough to convey specific benefits in very specific language, reaching your goals is going to be tough.

Another common problem is a mismatch between your ads and information and the vendor's sales page. If you were targeting me, for example, and I clicked through to a sales page offering me a chance to get my ideal bikini beach body, I might spend a few minutes admiring the 'after' photos, but I ain't buying.

I just checked my facebook ad status and saw i got 200 clicks since launch.. yet nothing..

i will definitely be more careful in my targeting.

Okay so this is how you narrow weight loss down.

        You go to demographics.

You look to who you are going for. And like John said, this is going to have to match the page you are sending them to.

Think about that page. Who realistically would buy from it?
        • What age range?
        • Male/female?
        • What income level?

        So ...

Like John referenced, if you want to sell males on weight loss ... they want to see other guys who've lost weight.

They can't relate that well to a woman who's lost weight.

The mind can't really make that "picture" happen.

So really look at the sales page and honestly narrow down who it is that would buy it.

If most of the before/after photos are of women ...

Conversions will be lower on men.

And if most of the before/after photos are of men ...

Conversions will be lower on women.

        And age matters.

An older audience can't picture themselves looking like a 23 yr old.

So if the main before/after pics are of young people ...

Conversions will be lower on older people.

Sales is really just a big matching game.

P.S. On the income part of it ...

Blue collar working class people don't relate to rich folk. (Unless they wanna learn from rich folk how to get money)

        Toss Politically Correct stuff aside.

        It's mostly true.

So if the before/after photos look like it's all rich people ...

Blue collar traffic probably won't convert.

        Not on weight loss.

Because if I am a blue collar guy ... and I see a rich guy lose weight ... I am going to assume ...

        His money helped.

Maybe he got a trainer. Maybe he ate expensive organic foods. Maybe he's got an office job and I got a job working with my hands. So I come home tired and he doesn't.

        Folks have to relate.

If you can match it as close to 100 percent as possible ... sales is easy.

Thanks a lot sir.. I'll ponder over this. Basically I'm targeting women between ages 30-60 who want to lose any excess weight they don't want.

I'm not really specific on the income level as my products aren't really expensive.. they usually average around 40$...

I will definitely be more careful when displaying pictures of proof.

The price of the product isn't necessarily the issue. The language people at different economic levels use when they talk and think is different.

Some may remember the first time Oprah showed up on TV having lost a bunch of weight. She talked about her nutritionist, her personal trainer, her personal chef, etc. What person of lesser means can relate to that?

The general reaction was "good for her, but what does that have to do with me?"

Even now, with her Weight Watchers gig (she's now a part owner), I overheard one woman comment that the only way it would work for her was because after paying Oprah, she couldn't afford food.

On the flip side, if a woman of means sees your messaging as aimed at homeless people, they assume that it isn't for them.

Obviously, these are two extremes. I picked them to make a point, not to suggest what you should do other than sweating the language regardless of the price tag of your product.

You are still too wide. A 58 yr old woman and a 31 yr old woman don't have much in common. A 31 yr old can be a 58 yr old's daughter. And learning their income doesn't have to do with price always ... it has a lot to do with lifestyle.

Someone who makes $ 90K a year lives a different lifestyle than someone who earns $ 35K a year, though they both can afford a $ 40 product.

            Narrow.

            Drill down.

This gets real specific. A good copywriter/sales person has an almost exact image of the right person in their head.

So much so ... when they meet people who buy their products ... they look like the person they imagined ... and their story matches the story they imagined too.

But it is always about drilling way down.

Pick a smaller range and learn about their lifestyle.

The difference between a copywriter that earns $ 3K a letter and $ 30K a letter ... generally has to do with how much research they do.

            But you aren't a copywriter ...

Same's true for affs. It's still sales.

Affiliates that do the BORING research ... outsell the ones who don't.

Like do this - go read some women's magazine websites. Read em. The articles. The ads.

If you can't get physical copies - go to their websites. SELF, Women's Health, that sort of thing.

            Immerse yourself in their world.

That's when it starts to get easier.

P.S. Study what has sold in the past to the demographic you want to sell to. Not just weight loss. Other offers too. You'll learn the wording. You'll learn the overall issues your demographic deals with. And be careful with being too broad on age range.

            A 31 yr old is a mom. A 58 year old is a grandmother. It's different.

P.P.S. One more thing ... I am getting tired of seeing this here: It does NOT take years to make money. It takes deep learning of the market. Deep learning that can take a couple weeks, if you actually immerse yourself in it.

            Once you have that learning?

Making money is easy. Most people, and that includes most full time affiliates who never get beyond a certain level ...

            NEVER go deep.

I can blatantly say it ...

            That's a "secret" ...

Because they won't do it. It's too boring.

Even that is much too broad ... what do women of age 30 and age 60 have in common except they are women?

Think about it ... and I am not just talking about Menopause, although this is a major event women go through between say 45 and 55.

Your marketing message will have to be very different for a woman of 30 than for a woman of 60.

What does a sexy body mean to a woman of 30 and does it mean the same to a woman of 60? I'd say not. Does a woman of 30 worry about her weight because her joints are worn and overweight puts even more strain on them and she's in constant pain? Probably not.
But it might be the greatest motivation for losing weight in a woman of 60

You need to solve a specific problem and focus on the benefits.

No one wants to lose weight merely for the sake of losing weight.

    They want to:
    • Look more attractive to their partner
    • Turn heads at the beach
    • Fit into their old clothes again
And they want to do it quickly without starving themselves.

It's all about targeting and attracting the right prospects. Then your list will be more targeted.

Once you find a specific problem you can solve, you then build a lead magnet to demonstrate the solution.

Unless you're really good, it will be very difficult to make your money back instantly.

It takes a lot of testing to create a winning funnel. Speaking of that, you should also study your competitors to see what they're doing,

    Don't reinvent the wheel.

I will tell you though that most of your money will be made on the backend. It takes repeat exposures.

    This is what builds trust.

Once you have trust, your copy is not as important. They'll buy because you recommend something to them.

    Hi Kingspark,

Ozi said it; what value do you bring to the table?

How it works: folks see you regularly share helpful, free content, no strings attached. Then they believe: "Hey; this guy ain't another shill trying to just squeeze money out of me...he's actually helping me for free."

That is the point where these trusting folks buy your stuff.

This trust-building process takes months to years. It's a skill you develop. All online skills take months to years to develop.

It take a while to know your stuff. But of course, if you plan to be around, may as well do things the right way/

It seems that you are not BUILDING YOUR LIST.

You have to start building it: directin traffic to cold selling product leads you nowhere.

You have to narrow your niche, as an example health for office busy people, and start building email list in exchange of a giveaway.

Then you need to communicate properly to your list: learn copywriting and test it.

And of course you need to build a relationship with the list, to sell them after your products.

Email marketing is the backbone of every business.

The first mistake you're making is in setting yourself targets. If you're relying on bringing in sales in order to eat and/or pay bills then, you're on a hiding to nothing?

You Tube is an excellent source of visual information and Google searches for the relevant phrases will offer you up many interesting bits of information.

My suggestion to you is before you start throwing any more money at something, spend
some time looking at the marketing side on YT and Google and from that apply that to your health niche. You need to spend the time (not money) on looking at what's working, who's making the money in that niche and how they're doing it.

I have scoured the internet trying to find a solution to this. Getting traffic to your site is one thing but the conversion is the entire point.

You need to narrow down your focus. Women 30-60 is way too broad an age range. Women who are 60 have different concerns than women who are 30.

Also, did you do any initial research? Do you understand what it is your prospects want when it comes to their weight loss? Visit some forums where your prospects hang out and read what they post. Find out their wants and desires. Find out what diets they've already tried. Find out what they're saying about weight loss. What are they struggling with the most? What types of diets do they like? What types of diets do they dislike? What's popular? What are topics that keep appearing over and over again?

I just did a quick Google search and found these two very active weight loss forums:
    https://weight-loss.fitness.com/
    https://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/

When you uncover this information you can use it to get a better idea of what it is your prospect wants. Then you can edit your promotional content (ads and landing pages) so that it reflects these wants and desires and thus "speaks" directly to your prospect.

Everyone wants to run a business website and be financially independent. Making good money online has become a trend nowadays. But if you are a beginner, the first thing you will look for traffic. Traffic is something which transforms everything. By everything, I mean, your website rank, sales, page views, etc.

Could you guys share your experience about buying clicks from clickonomy? Good chances of conversion into sales?

It's all about trust in sales..if the potential customers get to trust you then they will buy what you recommend them...

A review site can be profitable even in its earlier stages if you drive traffic coming from the search engines because it's cheap and easy to get even if it's not targeted well enough. If you add to this the traffic coming from Facebook, Youtube or Pinterest (it's a wise idea to build some communities there..) then you'll have some followers that know you and will buy from you if you provide value (non-biased reviews). Building a list is a great asset but providing great value on your website and social networks will help you grow even more as you look more legit and the people see you more like a real business.

Also try to see the big picture...how's gonna look the internet business in 5 years from now?..we already see that the big sites start to swallow the small ones and the trend is towards big authority sites that have: communities built, great/epic content apart from the commercial content, SEO, lists of potential customers and products to sell) and the cost of PPC will only go up..I hope it helps..

The most important thing in sales and conversions is how much value you are providing to your visitors. I suggest you to target your audience more with specific content when drive that to sales funnel. That may impact your conversions.

This is definitely a topic I am interested in as well. I have been able to find offers that SAY they have traffic that converts, but for the most part the promises fall short of my expectations.

      Thanks a lot ma'am.

Since the start of this topic, i have been implementing a lot of things and have successfully implemented everything in the checklist except making videos

      Please permit me to ask

Is it possible to make animated videos for a product i plan to promote? .. or is it ok to upload the video of the product i plan to promote?

      Thanks once again

You talk about how much it screws with their self esteem and that there might be a solution.
You get traffic from places where men 18-29 would hang out.
