What kind of blog should I have on my website?

Hi there,

Having a web developer put up a site for me and I asked them to intregate a blog page to the website. They have come back to me saying they do not deal in Word Press and if I want Word Press they can outsource it but it will cost double.

Does it matter what type of blog it is because all that I know is that I want a blog intregated to my website so I can upload articles to it.

Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Huh? It's drop dead simple to include a WP blog to a website. Just setup the subdomain/subdirectory of your choice, dump in the WP codes. And follow through the Step by Step instructions.

You sure you got a web developer? Sure dun sound like he's one...

If youre hosting comes with Cpanel you can install it with a couple of clicks.. no need to hire someone for this, believe me.

Hi guys thanks for your replies.....

I think what the developer is charging is for the Content Management System CMS which I believe is necessary to be able to use the the blog and to upload articles etc to it??? is it??

This is what the web developer wrote

"blog page with CMS in ASP.NET - $100 extra and if you need the same in wordpress..as I might have told you we do not personally work on wordpress but can get this done from our sources but it would cost a $200 in wordpress."

Help... I am having a website done and will be having some SEO done and just know that blog page is good for the ranking of the website, is this right?

1.Do I need any particular program, i.e. is WordPress a better option?

    2. Do I need CMS to be able to operate the blog and write articles on it etc.

As you can see I am really not sure about this and would really appreciate any advise as my developer is waiting on my instruction as we speak!

    Cheers everyone.

Wordpress itself is a CMS! There are hundreds of videos on the internet on how to install Wordpress.

If you have Cpanel you can do it in 2 minutes!

Ask your web developer to clear thinks up! Like what he is gonna build on the Wordpress?

Wordpress is certainly the best blogging option. It takes care of a lot of SEO and stuff.

    Thanks guys,

This is abit of a learning curve - I know I am having a blog installed, maybe Wordpress if it is better..

What should the developer build on the Wordpress? I just said I want a blog so I can upload articles etc to it, is there some specifics that they need to do?

Does say paying $200 to have CMS Wordpress installed on my site sound reasonable?

    Cheers once again.

If you don't need nothing more than a normal blog then yes it's kinda stupid! It's very easy to install a Wordpress blog even if you're doing it for the first time.

Here's a video to help you:

It's an older version but the method is quite the same.

Just set up a subdirectory like this:
    domain.com/blog

Then in your cpanel, if you have Fantastico, just install Wordpress in the blog subdirectory and link from your website to your blog in the nav bar.

It's simple. Then pick a theme for the blog and start posting your articles to it.

Wordpress is a CMS by itself and $200 to install Wordpress for you is ridiculous.
