Fellow Warriors, I come to thee for guidance! Pre-launch, affiliates, syndication, social media...

Hear thee hear thee...

Guys and gals, I stumbled upon this site a while ago as a lurker. Picking info here and there that pertained to my goals and what-not. There has been so many great contributors here, surrounded by a wealth of information! So thank you to all the level 99'ers out there contributing their 2 cents!

Entrepreneurship and IM have recently added fuel to my already existing endeavors of achieving 'greatness' (purely relative & subjective), and i'm sure many of you feel the same way...that's why you're here! Defying convention and doing things on your terms, when you want how you want.

After listening to several podcasts for months, reading books from Gary V and MJ Demarco, forums blogs and general observation, I truly believe that most people have a glass ceiling when achieving success...I believe with hard work and right, tactful action, it can be done.

Enough with the yadda yadda, I'm here to solve a problem and i'd be very grateful if you could nudge me or shove me in the right direction, and perhaps someone else that may be lurking might get some value out of this too!...I think I have the answer to all this but some 'validation' would be appreciated.

Here we go...*cracks knuckles*

In order to leverage a large audience and solve their problem, contribute and bring value, you first must know what the 4 p's are and where you stand...it especially helps if you know your truest and ultimate purpose, and starting with 'why" as Simon Sinek describes.

Right now, I am in the fitness industry...but more specifically, natural bodybuilding. Please keep in mind, i'm only disclosing this info to give you an idea of where i'm at: I've been at this for 12 years already and can say I have reached a level of 'expertise', as I'm a pro-natural bodybuilder in a natural bodybuilding organization and competed in the world's largest natural bodybuilding federation/show where I came first in the world for my class.

I've developed a, what I believe, killer e-guide with an awesome infographic on how to develop the perfect physique through x y z protocols. 12 years of experience synthesized from a professional. Right now its about 80% complete, it just needs to be outsourced via fiverr and done. Each opt link in to buy the guide on my website leads the viewer to an email-opt in page.

-My Instagram page has amassed just under 20k followers. Bodybuilding/fitness being my market/niche with some motivation/self development content here and there.

-I engage in 100% of my audience, every comment, every direct message I'll reply via video-message or if i'm on the go its text. Great to understand my audience, what questions and problems I can solve. Awesome for keyword ideas too as well as what problems my market has.

-I've got a stream-lined, mobile-friendly website up with a hand-full of blog posts up.

-Youtube is up but zero vids so far- working on editing 2.

-LinkedIn has 1,500 contacts.

Facebook business page has 30 likes, personal facebook page has about 660+ contacts.

I've data-mined the oldschool way and compiled a list of 200 webmasters within my market/niche on fitness, bodybuilding, fat loss, and self-development. Maybe 10 of those will put me up for guest posts. Who knows.

One thing I know for sure is that i'm more than willing to give 10x more than what i'm ever willing to 'take'...
As Ziglar once said:
"you can have everything in life you want, if you just help get other people what they want"

Where do I all start?? I've developed an awesome personal brand (thats not subjective at all ;] ), incredible physique (some of the oldschool bodybuilders from the golden age have commented, followed and supported my IG page). I truly believe in my message in that dreams are achievable.

I'm close to running on E, have no means to advertise via facebook to get opt-ins or even a hard-sell to my landing page. So I haven't yet amassed an email list, I haven't set up an automated email-marketing campaign ( would you advise a drip campaign of free content, perhaps a 5 step series of x y z content and sprinkle in my product, then at the end ask for the back-end sale of x y z for a substantially larger sum?)

Webinars are always an option. I could have them opt in for that, offer some great informative content and have them either buy the e-guide or opt in for the back-end sale which would be 1-on-1 consultation for x y z amount of time (tips on funneling leads from a webinar? Not sure if after the webinar my mission should be to have them buy my front end product aka my eguide or 1-on-1 coaching aka back end)

Affiliates?? I've got several accounts on Instagram that i've built relationships with that have 100-250k+ followers. I could offer a 50-50 commission. Clickbank?

A little over-whelmed with the possibilities. I'm a little paralyzed when it comes down to taking the next actionable step. I've procrastinated long enough. Reading the next article won't set this thing into momentum....action will!

First thing would be to?...

Thanks in advance, I'm very grateful theres a place like this for people like us to come to, to really manifest their visions!

It sounds like you're well on your way. First things first, I would encourage you to finish your product and your website/sales page and get that link in your social media accounts (specifically Instagram) ASAP. Are you linking to anything? Do you know how many clicks you receive?

Fitness and Instagram are tailor made for each other. I am certain that's where your traction will come from, which in turn, will make everything else easier (due to the cash flow). Which brings me to my next point. You should look into reading a book called Traction by Gabriel Weinberg and Justin Mares. It's one of the best books I've ever read and is perfect for the stage your business is currently in.

I am in the fitness market as well, although I deal with physical products. Assuming you have 20K real followers and get a good amount of likes/comments on your photos, this might be a rare occasion where the cart is luckily ahead of the horse. You have a target audience and you should know what your audience wants.

My girlfriend is notorious for buying random workout brands clothing and whatnot she saw on Instagram. And there are millions more just like her.

The one question I ask everyone who is or wants to be a fitness influencer, for lack of a better word... Are you your brand or are you the face of your brand?

        Gambino,

Many thanks for your insightful reply! I've dabbled with instagram since it's inception and watched it unfold into a marketing powerhouse. Crazy! Ironically, I'm not linking to anything at the moment. The only thing I've ever linked to was an email opt-in page on my story section so that I can get a feel for how many of my engaged followers would be interested in my product.

Immediately upon completion, I'll link my product in my bio, stories and stories on my bio. So many things I could link in there, but the question is what? Youtube? Blog page? Sales landing page? or alternate throughout the month and see which link gets the most clicks..so much potential that lies on the horizon.

I appreciate you passing down that recommendation by Gabriel & Justin. Im about to embark on Udemy's Complete Digital Marketing Course and another course on monetizing my Blog..although I think i already get the gist of it all. Drive traffic to your page, backlink, provide value and sprinkle your product in. The only thing I havent delved into would be email marketing with the main focus being on a back-end product aka life-changing product. I hear Aweber is great.

The one question I ask everyone who is or wants to be a fitness influencer, for lack of a better word... Are you your brand or are you the face of your brand?
This is a great question...in the eyes of my audience I believe that my face and physique come first, they know me as I dont promote the name of my actual brand that often. I would say both, I am my brand and the face of my brand...however they know me for me and not necessarily my brand.

Thank you, Gambino, for the insights!

Very nice, however i'd probably have to pass. I'm currently in the making of building my own empire. Thanks for your suggestion.

I once had to turn down a fitness influencer on IG with a following of 2MIL in order to feature their product. I turned them down because 1) it would compromise the value of my own product and 2) it would have been a short-term gain for a long term loss.

Some might think of what an opportunity I missed out on. Gary Vee very often proclaims on leveraging the most amount attention for the cheapest amount. Sure this would have validated that concept, but sometimes there's a bigger picture beyond the immediate payout. I'd like think of myself as congruent with my vision and brand.

        Savidge4,

        Absolutely brilliant. *starts slow clap*

The HOW & WHY are molding slowly into what I believe to be the essence of my brand. Little people know about the adversity it took to get to where I'm at, though i'm sure many of us have gone through all kinds of adversity and perhaps even more challenging than what i've ever encountered... but its the belief in the WHY and how people can identify with your same WHY that really captivates them.

I really appreciate your actionable items, they're genius. I had not thought about having my audience really get hyped. It's like you're increasing the buying temperature of a prospect. When it's hot, you STRIKE!

        I can't thank you enough.

Right now, my website is loaded with 2 variations of my brand's logo. There's no mistake that it's a legit brand. I'm currently working with a printer in Florida that is doing some screen-printed shirts with those 2 variations of my logo. This would be the next step while I complete my e-guide.

You are without question developing a brand.. right now ( I am assuming ) your brand is YOU and for lack of a better term YOUR body... You need to start injecting an image IE a logo. Your first jab jab right hook needs to be a t shirt or workout tank. And give 1 away for 10 days.. THEN start the sell.

Build the hype and start the ground work for the 10 days of the free e-book... Let the recipients be your voice.. then release the sale.

Find someone local ( a give away ).. give them 10 sessions of your time to get them on the path ( video the process ) content + an ongoing testimonial.. get back with them after a month.. after 3 months, after 6 months.
Are you suggesting I give out the e-guide along with the shirts, too? Not a bad idea. I'd definitely send you a free shirt with no expectations from my end LOL. Thanks again, fellow warrior.

This will likely take some testing to figure out what your target audience 'responds' to. But, I would guess that your best option is to add an opt-in page that initiates a follow up email sequence that pitches your product.

I see quite a few fitness influencers on Instagram who link their bio to their sign-up for a 'monthly challenge' or something similar. Then, they follow that up with an email sequence that explains and hypes the upcoming monthly challenge. This is a good way to get your follows to tell their followers and grow your email list while getting a bit of viral/referral traffic and sales.

There are a lot of different ways to set up a profitable sales funnel but at the end of the day it all comes down to driving targeted traffic to a targeted offer at a profit.

Obviously, there's a bit of a difference between physical products and info products. But, when broken down it's fairly simple.

You can make a very strong case for doing it either way. But, I only mention it because it's something that you only really get one shot at early on. And if/when you decide to exit your business it may be tough if you are the business as opposed to being seen as the main ambassador to the brand that you built.

      I'm suggesting becoming a reseller.

It's a complete setup with landing pages, autoresponder, follow-ups, etc. All set up and ready to go.

There's a killer free offer for your prospects and up to 5 of their friends or family.

You get residual commissions on memberships.

It's all about fitness so would fit with your current audience.

It's obvious you don't have a clue, so I understand your objections.

The long, slow, hard, 2% chance of success method it is then...

        Good luck with that.

Oh, come on now. There are many ways to make money online. But, calling the OP clueless and saying that he's taking "the long, slow, hard, 2% chance of success method" because he isn't going to promote the offer that is in your signature is absurd.

So in 25 words or less, please share your vision and your brand.

You have said a lot in this thread, but it's all about you and your followers.

    Get things finished.

Your product is not finished yet. Get it completed.

You have potential traffic sources, but nothing lined up. Start testing some for quality.

Case studies and testimonials would help, once you have the product done.

You have some building blocks here and that's good.

    Hi Chimichanga,

Well done dude. Both on the value and network you have built online. Kudos to your natural bodybuilding wins too. I was a physique model some 15 years ago. It is fun, but you literally give your life to it. Had a blast then. Now I'm Mr Skinny Yoga Guy and Runner LOL.

You have the money right now, in the massive, loyal, engaging following you built through 1 to 1 engagement, and through the blog posts you have published. Just keep sharing free content, churning out helpful stuff through your blog, YouTube and IG and FB. The money really is in the free content, and in your engaged, loyal community.

The issue now? Dealing with fears and mental blocks concerning money, which has manifest as overwhelm.

Income streams simply allow you to receive the money you have already earned. Does that make sense?

People like you. People trust your natural bodybuilding advice. Offer them premium content - affiliate marketing, or writing and self-publishing an eBook on Amazon, or whatever - so they can buy it and consume it, and you will have your profits.

You've done the legwork. Big time. Now it's picking 1-2 income streams to start with, while you continue to put out that inspired free content, and you'll simply begin receiving the money you have already earned.

      Ryan,

Right you are! I truly believe that you eventually manifest what you ARE. The hard work has been done but I'm prepared and willing to do mounds more in order to see the fruition from the years of work via bodybuilding and the 1-2 years from web design and leaving the 'matrix' ;]

This is the first time I actually engage with like-minded individuals. Most people I tell about the boundless opportunities that IM and entrepreneurship don't really take action or even bat an eye. Thanks for hearing me out. I stumbled upon your twitter and saw your live video on "How to monetize your blog without products to sell", nicely done, thanks for all the value and Enjoy New Zealand!

We'll have to meet up sometime and talk about our past experiences of stage presence...and i'll have to hop on the yoga-life as these deadlifts and squats have me feeling like a pretzel :|

I've got all this nitrous in the bottle and gas in the tank but what it all comes down to is hitting that clutch and shifting into first.

      Thanks, Jason.

Can you tell me your thoughts on pre-launch as seen in Stephen's video:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMS5p0KwKyA

      and Lewis Hows video:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXlB5WUEWWM

From what I gather, getting traffic and already qualified leads to your inbox allows your to see exactly how to solve your audience's problem.

Also, it gives them a sense of anticipation. Keeping them on their toes for something that can potentially solve their issue.

Nevertheless, first thing is first and thats to finish the product...so right you are! That will be the first step now, then off to blog syndication and content output via social media, followed by affiliate outreach via clickbank and/or my niche affiliates with a strong influential presence.

Interesting. Are you implying I look into their product or implying that I take a closer look at their business model and theme?

      Thanks!

Your on the cusp of a lot of things going right... but to get "there" like Jason said. you have to get things done.

You are also at the point where you need to look inside, and see where you have been and where you want to go... And I would say you know where, and are looking for how.. the HOW is there, and the WHY is there. The When and what.. these are the pressing questions.

Find someone local ( a give away ).. give them 10 sessions of your time to get them on the path ( video the process ) content + an ongoing testimonial.. get back with them after a month.. after 3 months, after 6 months.

In a nut shell COMPLETE and EXECUTE and you will be fine.. your not on E.. or you would have started the yoga life long ago LOL

I would do 1 before the other.. t-shirts first.. build the hype build the brand... If they are wearing the same shirt as you... they will want to follow the advice if that makes sense. I might run a special back end deal to those that bought merch. Ones that have a pre determined history of buying or more likely to buy again. Hence "the money is in the list" Anoher way to give to those that have given to you.

I appreciate the kind words.. im not brilliant or a genius tho.. just 20 years of experience LOL

    Hello Chimi!

I see you have strong online presence both social and website, with an emphasis in messaging.

Would it help you being able to sell directly through those channels while chatting with people?

Seeing your post I would say something like:
    1. Paid customized training attention packages through chat.
    2. Premium content from the events you participate in.
    3. ...

    Good luck Chimi!
