Hi everyone
i own a website called http://www.leanbodymag.com
ive had it a while but not sure to do with it, id like your advice on what to do with it, its obviously not built but id like your views on how and what you'd do with it, i have a facebook book page which goes with it and a pinterest following.
im thinking of getting someone to rebuild the site but should i make it with a regular newsletter, add affiliate links and possibly put a free ebook to be given away.
Just be nice to get some feedback

Thanks

Brett

You might want to look into this prior to putting a lot of time and effort into the site. I would do a little research and find out. It would be a real bummer to fix it up and have a nice site that will not get indexed

My question is, what would you do with a site with the above name, how would you populate it.
I'm just getting ideas about ways to make a good site with the above name.
Traffic I will sort out depending on what type of site I produce
    Thanks

The obvious answer would be to create some type of lean body magazine.

  • The site needs a re-model. If you're going to make money with an affiliate product/program, ebook, or whatever.... it's in your best interest to offer something free, and then provide quality info via your email newsletter. So yes, your idea on the newsletter is a good one. But right now, the headline needs to be redone, the sub-headline needs to be redone, and the overall layout of the site needs clarity. Right now on the site.... i have no idea what you want me to do.

    Hi BRETTBrtsk,

I like the domain name. Great choice.

I also dig the simple, clean, minimalist look.

I'd start creating helpful content through blog posts to add value to the site. Also consider guest posting on fitness blogs by building friendships with established fitness bloggers. Promote them without asking for anything in return. Patiently befriend these folks. Guest post invites will flow your way, or your pitches will be accepted.

Follow these fundamentals to build the foundation for a rocking site.

Consider building a list to bond with readers. Sure affiliate links or ads can add income but focus 99% on creating and connecting; this is how success flows to you.

  • Good domain name. short and sweat. And to the point too.

    Slow loading times,

too much text on the landing page.

not very clear about what is about.

You have less than 5 seconds to catch your visitors attention. If you fail to, they are gone.

Be creative. Or spend some cash or paying someone redesigning it. It does have to be much. Time is money,

    My 2 cents.

If I owned the site, and had time, I'd do a few things:

    1. Start heavy on content, including guest posts from similar, but not directly overlapping sites.

    2. Mix in product reviews, shoes, athletic wear, blue tooth headphones, maybe 20% of the content covering product. This will help attract potential advertisers, content sponsorship, product placement, etc.

    3. Grab the Whalop store plugin. It's free and one of the available product lines is supplements. It's all the name brand stuff that sells. I do some consulting for these guys, and know the system pretty well, if you have any questions.

    4. Hire some freelance writers and designers and set up a digital version of the magazine for the iTunes store through Magcast.co. One of the owners is a good friend. They'll take care of you.

    5. Put together couch to 5k, 10k, and marathon training podcasts to start another funnel.

    6. Build a media empire...

First of all a big thank you to anyone who has taken the time to respond, there has been some great feedback and great ideas, I've had the domain for a while and just been busy on other things but nearly ready to rebuild the site either myself or I may hire someone.
So keep the ideas coming they are so useful and love hearing different takes on the site good or bad both are just as good.
So once again a big thank you to you all

It is loading too slowly. And the only article is too long and unstructured. Try using bullet points and highlighting the text to make it more readable. Good luck!

Hi Brett! You have a great domain name, easy to remember. I recommend you start building an authority site about exercising, health, fitness, diet... Adding useful, unique content regularly, a newsletter with more tips and so on. Affiliate links to closely related products is one option to monetize.

Why not create your very own product and sell it through Clickbank? You could make a lot of money with a monthly membership product, especially in the fitness niche. You would earn a steady growing passive income.

You have a great opportunity to build a really good income stream for your self. Be sure to check the forum for tips and tricks. You will get a lot of help here.

I'd start with having a look at the Wordpress theme you're using? The main part of your homepage is a large header with content underneath. Not the most appealing thing for any visitor and if you want them to return.

I would concentrate on getting the site the best it can look and how you want it to function before you start on social media pages. And not forgetting to use the correct keyword phrases for future ranking

I would not spend alot of time and energy revamping the site.

I would just add more content turn it into a blog and build a following of people using social media and using video and send back to blog.

Then capture emails using a free value based book or training.

My only question is is this something your passionate about helping people get lean bodies? Do YOU have a lean body? Are you into health?

If you have no passion, then just build content on site and sell it

Success in content marketing depends on creating lots of content--and not just any content. You need good content, that people want to read/watch/listen to, and you need to keep things fresh enough that they keep coming back for more. That's a lot of pressure to come up with new ideas and new applications, and unless you're some meta-human idea-generating machine, eventually, you'll run into writer's block, unable to come up with something new, cool, and exciting.

Do a Google search for free plr ebooks on the subject and you should be able to offer that for free.

There's a good free squeeze page builder plugin for WordPress.

Then you can hook it up to a free autoresponder such as mailchimp to send them more offers.

20 Content Ideas for Your Website or Blog

    1. Write a beginner's guide blog post about some aspect of your niche. These are hugely popular and can help establish you as an authority in your field.

    2. Invite a guest post on your website. Get a guest blogger or friend to provide some insights on a topic, and post it right on your site. Be sure to note somewhere clearly that it's just that (a guest post).

    3. Start a 'pic of the day/week/month' content campaign. This can be so fun for your readers, and can keep them coming back for more.

    4. Put your eyes on P interest - it's full of inspiration and glorious content! We hear this one is pretty good...

    5. Utilize social media tools like Buffer that offer content suggestions. That's right - they do some of the work for you.

    6. Create a new social media account - Instagram is great for fresh new photos and content. Once you've set up your new account, add it to your website with the corresponding social App in the Wix App Market.

    7. Get positive testimonials from happy customers - this can be some of your most valuable info! If applicable, include the geographic location of the customer and show off your international status.

    8. Ask your readers to participate in a survey. Generate lots of good content while getting some really valuable feedback.

    9. Do a little online research to find out what's trending, and write about it. Stick to the topics that correlate with your products, services, or brand.

    10. Add an FAQ section to your site and answer your site visitors' questions before they even ask them. Win-win!

    11. Create a blog post like this one, with a numbered list of newsworthy topics that in some way tie into your business.

    12. Use borrowed content from around the web like cool infographics, Youtube videos or anything else that makes sense with your niche. Just be sure to give credit where credit is due - claiming content that's not yours as your own is a big no-no.

    13. Write a blog post that highlights and lists (with links) all your previous articles on a particular topic. Along with being mostly comprised of content you've already created, it also gives your seo ranking a nice boost.

    14. Attend an event that has something to do with an aspect of your business. Grab some inspiration and write about it. Tip: sometimes it's good to jot down notes so you don't forget important quotes or details of the event as they happen.

    15. Make a 'hack' post. Give insider quick tips on how to solve common issues your niche faces.

    16. Talk to your friends. Let your peers know that you're a bit stumped and see if some collaborative brainstorming doesn't churn out some interesting ideas (it usually does).

    17. Write about some of your biggest challenges, and how you overcame them. Share your success stories with your readers, but do your best not to brag. Also, remember to add the lesson learned.

    18. Include a news section on your site. There are plenty of newsworthy moments that will happen to your business - it doesn't necessarily need to be an article on the front page of one of the biggest publications out there. Be sure to share news articles about your business, as well as milestones met, like serving your 100th customer, for example.

    19. Give your old content a face lift. If you wrote a blog post about something a couple of years ago, chances are the info needs to be updated. Create a new post based on the original, and be sure to add all the new details.

    20. Pay your competition's websites and social channels a visit. It's a good idea to keep an eye on what your competitors are doing (right or wrong), and what content they are putting out that might inspire your own version.

Yeah you have a good idea because you are focusing on affiliate links and advertiser banners on single site. For this you have to use a unique domain name. You can use Domain Name Checker for this purpose. Once you finalize the name, the next step will be to post the quality content and start working on its SEO.

You can go in different directions with your site..

It depends on a couple of things:
    - Your budget
    - How much time you're willing to put into this
    - What profit goal you'd like to achieve

For ex. building a blog or a review site is not gonna bring you huge profits..decent yes..but you may want more (I'm just assuming..I don't know). Content creation takes time or money to invest, SEO takes time and money as well....For an authority site just double or triple the amount of time and money you need to invest to make it work in the niche you're in...Also building a profitable site with organic traffic takes a couple of years, and in the first year it's not generating too much income (Google keeps it in the sandbox for 6-9 months or more..it depends)...

Make a plan and some calculations and decide which route is suitable for you...

You have decided that you want to convert your passion, interests and/ or expertise into your very own website. But what type of website should you create?

First, you have to reflect on what you can offer the world. What do you have that will provide value and help your website stand out among the sea of numerous URL's out there? How much time can you devote to maintaining and updating your online home? Do you have the technical know-how or do you need help?

These questions play a fundamental role in helping you zero in on the website idea that might be the perfect match for you.
