Make Google SideWiki OPTIN for Webmasters - Voting Closes Today!

Hey Everyone!

Google is accepting votes for sidewiki feedback.

SEVERAL suggestions have been submitted to make sidewiki an optIN feature for webmasters.

Unfortunately, Google was very quiet about accepting feedback... and voting ends TODAY.

We need as many people as possible to vote to make google sidewiki an optin feature for webmasters... rather than something that is being shown on our sites without our permission.

I suggest you find ALL the comments that suggest making sidewiki an optin for webmasters (there were 3 the last time I looked) by scrolling thru the pages of comments, and vote for ALL of them.

Here's the link to access the voting area:

Google Product Ideas

Warriors, let's tell google what we think... vote to make sidewiki an optin option for webmasters!

If you vote for making it opt-in only, make sure you also vote against all the features people suggest that make the widget easier to abuse. Suggestions like building the functionality into the browser, allowing anonymous comments, being able to embed feeds, etc.

Done. If you haven't voted you need to get over there. Right now the votes are not making a very loud statement

I voted, but it is so ridiculous the way they have it set up.

I know why the number of votes seem so low.

It's because Instead of aggregating similar questions and having people vote on those, they have them all separate.

Instead of just saying: Should Sidewiki be optional for webmasters? They have multiple questions asking the same thing.

    Ridiculous.

    Please do vote, it's important.

        Kay,

I saw one that said something like "Have you seen the Air Force's new plane like Wonder Woman's" or something like that. I really had to LOL at that one.

Well, that was interesting. They really aren't interested in our opinions. I got 14 votes in and then I got a voting is closed message. Then I wrote a scathing Sidewiki is Evil comment which immediately disappeared. Then I submitted an "idea" and halfway through typing it, I got "No longer accepting new ideas at this time". Also got "voting is closed" when I tried to continue voting on other people's ideas.

I just got the same thing - looks like google may be controlling the results? Or maybe they just don't want anyone voting on multiple comments because it looks bad for big g (note lower case - I will not be capitalizing google in future).

Or perhaps they didn't realize just how much we hate sidewiki? (doubt that's the case)

Or maybe they are re-arranging their poll so that you have the option only to vote in favor of sidewiki or in favor of sidewiki? Ya gotta love options.

Oh well. I was hoping it wouldn't be a wasted effort... that google (notice I didn't capitalize the "g" either) would finally start playing fair with webmasters. *sigh*

About time, I certainly will go give them mine... This tool needs to be 100% disbanded and not an option at all...

I tried to vote and it told me voting is closed.
    wonderful-not.
I was going to put this thread in my sig on here and dp to help promote it,and tweet it.
No point if they aren't been fair in voting.

There was an option to log in(figured great,i could at least post something)..2min later it's still processing..obviously google doesn;t want anyone logging in either to add stuff..

    To google:
if your watching, why bother starting a vote on something if it isn't going to be fair?

Did you expect them to be fair after they have already tried to take over websites that do not belong to them ??

Makes you wonder what else they do huh

There were a couple ads for blogs, too, but were quickly removed.

Funny - we can't remove sidewiki - but google can remove spam from its site????? Looks to me like google didn't like the way the comments were going.

That's it Kay ... It was not going in their favor so they got rid of the idea of allowing others to post comments for other ideas..

Maybe they should go check their own sidewiki, I know I left them a few nice comments (NOT!) about thier evil tool. They are still there after 2 weeks. Left a real nice one on the page after you install the toolbar.

Google has become Big Brother, which is why we need to stop handing over our information willingly.

For example, everyone seems to be using google analytics... it's free, it's easy, so why not. WRONG! Do you really think google is letting us use this tool for free with no strings attached? They are using the stats we are willingly handing over to beat us at our own game.

You'd be much better off using Website statistics, web analytics, hit counter - HitsLink (NOT an affiliate link) or any other similar program than just handing your marketing results over to google.

We're angry that google has so much power over our businesses but, the truth is, we have all made them that way by using their free tools... which allows them to track every move we make and every result we attain.

Just food for thought. I, for one, will never use google analytics (I just wish there was a way to avoid using their keyword tools... but since every keyword tool I know of pulls their info from google, there seems to be no way around it).

I agree .... I never use Google Analytics and have removed sites from their Webmasters Tools as well. Google already has far too much power and greed. Sidewiki is the most recent example of them treading all over the rights of webmasters.
