I Think the THIEF....Is Trying to Hack my System Now---How do I know---What do I do?

Ok....

New issue here. As some of you know I have been at war all day today with a Thief who stole one of my video's, manipulated it and then slapped it up on every video file sharing site.

I have successfuly managed to have his account suspended with his hosting provider...thanks to a lot of great Warriors help. So he is Fu@@d with his promotion....FOR NOW.

He has other sites..that I am watching closely to see if he switched his stuff.

I am making his life a living hell via email, post on his sites etc.

At a pretty price. I am dropping in my ranking as a result of my time away from the promotion...I will make it up though.

NOW...that I have hit him with all guns blazing and firing more..(I wish I knew more about making peoples lives miserable online...I am just not programmed that way) I think h is trying to hack me.

I checked a few of his other vids (probably stolen) and noticed that he knows how to hack....

After I opened war on him....I beefed up my firewall and went Def Con 1 (I am Running Kaspersky Internet Security) on my system. Ever since the
war started my system started running a bit slower....having a tough time get this forum to load and other sites.

Over the past hour I keep getting warning messages from Kaspersky indicating that .....????,,,,,, is Password protected and access is denied.
I can't catch what it is telling me because it disappears to quick. But it seems as if someone is trying to gain access to my PC>

HOW DO I KNOW?

Anything I should look for here?

I am at war and need to win!

Thanks
Sean

This might sound weird, but I would completely restart my computer. The reason for this is because he might have your ip address and is trying to login remotely. If you restart your computer sometimes that will reset your ip address which will change for the thief. He won't be able to login by using your old one. That's just my suggestion. I would also run a virus scan and make sure you don't have a backdoor virus running on your pc.

      I agree with Brad

      shut your computer down

      go to bed

Have a good and full english breakfast including black pudding

      Go for a long walk

      read the Times

      do a crossword

No go out and kill him (In a nice IM way of course!)

On the other hand a restart will sometimes activate dormant spyware that requires access to running windows files. Just a thought...

Talk to your ISP - tell them you think you are being attacked and they should be able to at least tell you who ( if anyone) is trying to access your IP.

      Thanks Brad....

      I did that
and then I got this after the reboot and another scan. I have been running scans every hour ever since the war started....about 8 hours now

detected: Trojan program Backdoor.Win32.Qmop.d URL: http://66.197.153.37:8080/work/lsf.exe
      -Caught and Quarantined

      from Kaspersky...

      how about websites and blogs?

      any suggestions for those?

      Thanks

Do you have HiJackThis installed? That could help you see what's currently running on your computer in case he tried to install something nasty.

I haven't used Kaspersky so I don't know exactly what capabilities it has but I would recommend running a spyware/adware application. Someone might of planted a small little bug in your computer that gives them access to your computer.

Hackers like these have tools that can allow them to scan forums and chat rooms for people that have these bugs in their computers. Once they find them all they have to do is connect. I would scan for spyware/adware also besides for viruses. Just my opinion. I hope this helps.

Dude, when I am at war (not that I ever was), here's what to do. For a completely SAFE, unhackable solution, download and burn to CD a live linux distro. You can get one from linspire. Anyway, save whatever you need to on a memory stick and boot up linux from the cd. Your hard drive will be safe. Sometimes I unplug mine (not that I ever needed to or ever had anything to do with an online conflict) as an added measure of security. Now everything is in memory. Let 'er rip. Oh, and as a last touch, make sure you go through a proxy (again, not like I ever did this, ever). OK, got it, now you have your armor. Go get 'em!!!

put his ip address in your firewall software or your hardware firewall (router).

You're most likely just paranoid, sorry dude.

These things kapersky is detecting can be from anything on the net really.

But still, play it safe, I could be wrong and that would suck.

    Sean,

Go and get a copy of this CCleaner - Home

Also hunt out avgfree, adaware, and spybot search and destroy. Run all of them.

Once that is done, go and find hijack this, run that and check the log report. Post the log report to their forum. (Or analyse it yourself!)
    Easy enough to do.

As far as websites and blogs go........ well I have been beta testing a program for the last month, having suffered like you have from wonkers (change the vowel!) who want to ruin your business! it's worked great up to now.

    Snakezur,

You wouldn't believe what people do to you, you get mugged online as well as walking down the street.

And paranora only starts with one good reason. The fact you could be RIGHT.

    Hi Sean,

I have 2 things to say.

1 - If turning your computer on and off doesn't change your ip address, go to your command prompt (dos prompt) and type "ipconfig" and see what the ip address is, and then type "ipconfig /renew".

If your ISP assigns new addresses that might kick in a new one. Other wise type "ipconfig /release" and then reboot your pc and check again.

2 - Protect yourself as well as you can and then let it go and work on moving your business forward rather than attempting revenge attacks on some moron whose business model revolves around copying other people and stealing their stuff. Karma will ensure he gets what he's due - don't take yourself into that realm of living as it will affect other areas of your life.

I scanned all the posts above, so sorry if someone already suggested this...

First thing you should do, if you haven't already, is to grab all of your website files and other important files on that PC and burn them to a CD or onto a thumb drive.

Sorry...that's as far as I can go.
