Domain Names and FaceBook Traffic.

I need to register several and there are many choices.
What do you consider to be the most important actors?
1. dot com vs dot global / dot academy / dot best / dot cafe etc etc
2. Should the name contain keywords?
3. Have the recent shenanigans of Facebook affected FB Adds and trafic
4. What are you using to drive traffic?
5. If you are highly experienced (as opposed to vocal) would you be willing to answer a couple of questions via skype/email/other. Questions concern re-directing domains and any pitfalls of using VPN's.
I'm not a newbie, just a PL / FBA gal, trying to change direction and save my sanity.
Many thanks

Any domain name can work, in theory. But, I believe most will agree with going with a .com domain. I only buy .com domains because that's what most people are going to assume if you build a site that people are looking for.

Possibly. I don't think keywords are essential. And as far as I know, keyword domains aren't given preference by search engines these days (but I'm no SEO expert). When I buy I domain, I look for something that is brandable and/or something that someone in my target audience will automatically understand and connect with. For example, I sell a piece of muscle building equipment and the domain is ____gains.com. Building muscle = gains, easy to connect the dots.

I haven't noticed any changes in Facebook ads. Personally, I don't expect it to change very much. We'll see.

I focus on Facebook ads and Instagram.

P.S. Personally, I think the money is in branding a private label or creating your own product(s).

Gambino, rapidjob. Thanks people. You confirmed my thoughts - other than the dot com. (which I would always use in preference to info - net - biz etc/ But I wonder -product was e.g. Collectors Edition.books,
      How would google view that?

I honestly have no clue how Google views other domain extensions. All I know is that I cannot recall a single time I've Googled something and was shown a .xyz, .books, .live, etc domain. I'm always lead to .com, .co, .net, or .org websites.

I cant find any either but very often I do a search as in " first edition +books " .

I am going to do a split test I think. If it works the way I think it should then it will be a blessing for my other sites. I might check it out with an OMG forum also.

          Thanks for the input.
