Cloaking Affiliate Links - Facebook

17 replies
Hi,

I know Facebook does not like Affiliate Links and blocks alot of them.

Any tips for what to use to get around this problem?

i.e a free script to add to my domain to cloak and redirect affiliate links.

I tried a WP plugin called Pretty Links, but that does not prevent Facebook from
blocking my links.

BTW I always send the link in a private message on Facebook, not in a post.

Look forward to any advice, script or product (free if possible) recommendations

Thanks

    Send them to your own page first where the prospect have to actually click a link on that page or fill up a form.

    Cloaking an affiliate link will not do anymore.

    Another method is to just do it like this

    xxx .com/abc (remove the space)

    Hope this helps!

    If you have your own domain, you can just use a php redirect.

    The problem you will run into with any kind of redirect is that eventually FB will pick up on it, if the volume is high enough or people report it...

    Best thing to do is send to a legit bridge page on your domain and then let the user click thru, long term you are going to get better results...

    There is no way to make this work in the long term...Facebook has a very good algorithm and bans the aff links in most cases.

    I'd suggest to use a presell/bridge page to warm up the traffic for better conversions.

    I use noip fraud - its not free but if you are going to be doing serious numbers then $197 a month will be nothing...and its worth it. But in all honestly FB is cracking down a lot on direct linking and BH.

    You should really be looking to do some more whitehat, and send people to actual website before doing any direct linking to an affiliate product. Landing pages work better anyway.

    If you get a godaddy domain name you can forward your link to it. You can also make subdomains with your original domain name so you can forward more affiliate links. Worked for me, you can give it a shot.

    Put the following in a file named .php that you will use for the redirect.

    Replace PUT-URL-HERE with your affiliate link

    <?php
    header( 'Location: PUT-URL-HERE' )
    die();
    ?>

    To create a meta tag refresh redirect, put the following in a .html file

    <html>
    <head>
    <title></title>
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="0; URL=PUT-URL-HERE">
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </html>

    You can put your affiliate links on a landing page of your own domain and drive traffic to that domain first.

    I wouldn't send direct traffic from FB Ads to any affiliate page even if you cloak the domain. Facebook is like Mall cops lately trying to keep up with Google.

    They will most likely still catch you.

    Be sure to read the terms of service before paying for ads.

    You can instead send traffic to your blog or website (as long as it meets their terms of service).

    Or you can do it in a way that QUALIFIES your traffic and INCREASES conversions...

    How?

    Promote content that qualifies the prospect.

    How to figure this out?

    Reverse engineer other marketers doing this for other niches.

    Thankfully, their ads aren't that hard to find.

    I suggest you to create a squeeze page or landing pages where you put you offer and affiliate links. You can also collect email addresses with that. It works great for me.
