There's a lot of talk here in an other forums about how you can make a living flipping sites, but where are these people selling their sites? I have not seen too many sites selling for huge amount of money on site point and as for digitial point they all sell for a few dollars. I read 2 ebooks from so called site flipping gurus who claim to make thousands a month flipping sites on sitepoint and ebay, but again when I've looked at what has sold at these places I have yet to see one sell for more than a few hundred. Maybe one sold for several hundred, but does that make you a site flipping guru who can go write an ebook or sell a site flipping course to others?

I sell anything over $5,000 to Investor Lists and with Site Brokers.

Anything over $10k we are looking into Lawyers and Sitdowns.

That's why you don't see these sales, many of the bigger ones are kept silent.

Only sites with decent traffic and steady adsense -at least $60.00 per month income- really sell, they can go from $300-$400+ depending on the traffic and income.

You have to have something that makes the site valuable and not just trying to male a fast buck. Time invested, traffic, income, ranking. The more valuable the site to someone else the more it will sell for. Problem is if someone has a real profitable site they would never sell it, it wouldn't make economic sense. Do you believe I would sell a site that was making me thousands a month consistently? A hundred a month or less sure, but not anything over a thousand dollars.

    reikidad,

You're right. Many of these people simply jump on to this site flipping craze because they want to make money by selling people like you stuff.

The only people that I know to be qualified to be called site flipping experts are my buddy Justin Brooke and his wife, Chaunna & Steven Walk (LMC).

I don't how these so-called gurus run their site flipping business but here's a rundown of how I did mine:

    - In 2007 and 2008, I sold tons of websites all over the web for $50. This generated me a BIG FAT CHUNKY buyers' list.

    - I kept on selling affordable websites around the range of $100 - $5,000 to this list.

    - I also do site flipping brokering. People paid me up to $5,000 just to help them to sell their site...BECAUSE OF MY LIST.

    - Like LMC, I also sell to many investors. I am friend with a number of internet investors and millionaires who often called me up to ask me if there's any 6-figure sites out there worth buying.

These are the people that I know are constantly flipping websites like mad-flippers ;-) :

    - The awesome and handsome Desmond Ong (myself)
    - Steven Walk
    - Justin & Chaunna Brooke
    - Suzanne Bucairrel (Sorry if i spelt wrongly)
    - Jason Piecha aka. Suite J
    - Kate Anderson

and I also spotted a few like Rebekkah Tyler and Amir River etc. I don't usually buy site flipping guides from someone who don't publicly show you live on how he flipped a site before he/she sells me a product.

For example, when me and Jani G launched The Site Flipping Code, we know people will doubt me -- because I sounded too good to be true. And we show our pre-launch subscriibers the site that we built, how it is going to make money and BOOMM... we sold it in less than 24 hours. (THAT'S WHAT I CALLED REAL PROOF)

    Desmond,

Thanks for the comments... Great Stuff, I've stopped selling so much, and I'm in more of a buying mode right now, hoping to make a huge ROI on a large portfolio.

It's just so much work for so little money until you have a decent list, some real industry contacts, and are flipping 6 figure domains/sites. I've solicited domain owners and made 200% profit a few months later, but it's really pretty poor income in relation to CPA marketing.

Nowadays, if you want to flip sites, the sites MUST have income coming from them. The days of startup site flipping are long gone (it no longer works).

Generally, you can get a good price on sites that are making at least $50 a month. This can be achieved with Adsense.

How valuable would it be to sell a site where the domain has "age", maybe 6 years and has a pretty good domain name but not much else going for it?

    Hi,

In your OP you say "make a living," this is relative. For some a "living" would be a couple of hundred a day for others a "living" would be much more.

You can flip a start up site anytime you want to for $50 to $100. for some this would be a living.

If your truly interested...grab yourself a copy of Trevor Sommervilles course on site flopping...he actually talks about alot of the issues of sites on flippa not selling and then goes on to detail what IS selling etc.

I used to think you needed a bunch of high profit sites to sell and make money but from reading some of his stuff its clear you can do quite well on flippa from a site that you spent almost NO time making due to outsourcing etc.

Ok sure, your not selling something for 10k plus but does it matter if you are selling 10 sites for 800 each??

Anyway, there are some people making decent money flipping sites...just look through flippas listings and see whos listing what...then total up their sales for the last 6 months...its quite surprising.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers mate!

The site flipping industry will only be a booming industry.

I was on a Skype call with two investor friends of mine who own a multi-million dollar offline company each. Both of them talked about the growth of Facebook and then we go on to discuss how they too can invest on the internet.

Then yesterday, one of them gave me a call and told me that he has $100,000 to spend on a site that is making at least $10,000 a month.

This shows that there are more and more people are going online and most people are lazy (I know I am) and they would love to skip through the process of building a site and setting up the foundation of marketing (like submitting articles bla bla bla). They will skip ahead and buy sites.

Plus, when they buy sites from you, you can sell them more stuff in the backend.

A month ago, I have a friend who bought a site from me for $6,300. He was happy with the site but he has no clue how to start driving more traffic to it. That site was receiving about 100 organic traffic per day but he was looking to scale it up.

I told him that I can do it for him with some backlink strategies etc. He agreed and paid me another $2,000 every single month until he stops the service of course.

That's not the great part. The cool part is that I paid my assistant in Phillipines to do all the SEO work for me for just $700.

That's a $1,300 profit just by emailing around. Pretty cool eh?

All you really need to do is establish a buyer's list and then the money will come.

    Cheers

    Hey everyone,

I have a site that is making an average $60 a day in clickbank sales. The site is nowhere to be found in the search engines(maybe 2 visitors a day from organic search) and it gets about 10 direct visits a day. Most of the traffic is coming from some ezinearticles that get a lot of traffic and clicks.

In total the site only gets about 40-90 visitors a day but is able to make pretty decent conversions(1-5) clickbank sales a day.

How much would a site like this go for?
    thanks

I was suckered into buying some ebooks about site flipping, just dont see it happening right now. Right now I am liking that Google Sniper product from George Brown, I guess those sites can be flipped once you start making money with them.

I still make over $300 for startup sites. Recently flipped a Christmas and a Halloween site for $327 each after only a couple hrs listed on Flippa. If you don't have traffic and income, you've got to have a good niche, a great domain, killer design .... something that adds value. Lately I've been putting more effort into building two large projects that I'll sell later on ... both already have good income and traffic.

I see people on this forum that are killing themselves just to make some money ... anything. I can pretty much sell a site on Flippa any day I choose to list one. I spend a lot of my time developing and purchasing sites and work hard. It's not the make money overnight in your pjs model everyone is after, but I make a great living doing what I want to do. I don't bother with ebay ... never had any luck there with sites. I list on sitedeal.org and flippa. Would never list anything on DP. But when I hear someone say $300 for less than a day work is working for peanuts ... ok ... I like peanuts. That's only a part of what I do and a part of my income, but it's a nice part of it.

Are you serious? Who wouldn't do that? That dude is dreaming if he thinks someone is going to sell a site doing $120k/yr rev for $100k. Even if profit was 40% that's a bad deal.

        Yes I am serious.

Successful website owner will know why. Businesses lose its momentum over time. Plus, that website needs maintenance if you get what i mean. It's not an autopilot site.

For example, recently my buddy launched a site and make $900k in launch month and it's even a #1 clickbank product -- but the site is only valued at around $200k or maybe a little bit less.

        That's $900k to $200k!

Everyone who's saying you can't sell sites without traffic/revenue is simply wrong. If you can create the sites people want to buy, and have their contact info and their trust, you can sell brand new sites every week.

In the past 60 days, I've sold at least a dozen for $997-1297 and several new blogs for $200-300.

I'm the same as Suzanne, I can usually sell a new site any time I feel like creating one, but I don't mean that in a "guru marketing" way. I can't wake up, decide I need money today and it magically appears. I have to *gasp* do some work that day! I might even work a full 8 hours or more (yes, I said it! I'm an Internet Marketer and I work long days!)!

I also sell to buyers privately and only about 25-30% of what I sell (if that) is on Flippa. Your opinion of website flipping as a whole shouldn't be based only on what you see going on with Flippa.com.

You are right about the hype though. I've read about 20-25 of the products out there and about 3-4 are worth your time. 10-12 of them are "ok", but they all go over the exact same thing and are very basic (usually about flipping a new blog).

The problem with website flipping products and hype is this:

80% of the time (and that's being generous), the products being released are from people who don't even really flip websites or have much business/marketing knowledge at all. They may have sold a few at some point and then said "screw this, I can make a lot more money by selling a crappy how-to guide if I jump on this right now".

So, what should you do? Ask questions and get help from people who are actually making money consistently.

Also, if you search, you can find a LOT of great info that's free to get you started.

There isn't a "magic formula" for flipping websites. The basic model is very simple. You buy or create websites for one cost (your money and your time) and you sell it for more.

To get a better ROI, you develop skills that make your site worth more for less cost which can be any or all of the following: (design, programming, seo, research, negotiation, outsourcing, etc...you get the idea)

But when I hear someone say $300 for less than a day work is working for peanuts ... ok ... I like peanuts.
    lol! I like peanuts too.

      Hello all,

Can someone PLEASE recommend a website flipping product that I can follow and earn up to $500 in the first month and scale it p from there? A product that covers niche selection, the actual building of the site (just learning how to use WP to build sites), listing and all.

I would really appreciate any recommendations that Warriors that flip sites can give.

      Thank you.

      Tola.

Site 'flipping' is usually mis-interpreted. Often people think they can pick up a web site for peanuts, rebrand it and sell it for thousands.

Obviously it's not that easy - if it was everyone would be millionaires. To successfully 'flip' a site the essential ingredient you have to add is VALUE.

There are loads of ways to add value incluing:

    - by adding an optin so that the new buyer can build a list,
    - add additional marketing materials such as followup emails, email promotions, site reviews, articles, press releases, new sales letters, etc...
    - add bonuses
    - add new graphics
    - convert ebooks into audios
    - convert audios into videos
    - convert everything into a home study course
    - add a member site
    - add a blog
    - and may more

Once you've added some value by making your product unique it will then beat the competition and THEN you will make a profit.

By all means visit my site below to learn more on making a profit by site flipping...

There is money to be made, you just need to do your research! I sold only 3 sites this month and pocketed over $2k, all start up sites! You need to know the market, what it wants and how to deliver it!

IMO Research, Research, Research!!!! In essence a report or guide will only show you a plan, you need to research and implement that plan!
