Why do people even click if they don't have the mind to finish the thing?

Hi, like the title says, why do people even click if they don't have the mind to finish the thing?

Yesterday I got 12 clicks and 3 leads from that and today 10 clicks and 2 leads - https://imgur.com/a/tpOZicX

Note that the CPA offer was just an email submit so FREE thing, no money is involved and people still don't finish the damn thing but will click. I just don't understand the reason behind it? I mean if they don't have the intention to get the thing and they don't like, why would they even click the offer in the first place?

For instance, if I don't like a thing, I wouldn't even bother to click but people will still click but won't finish despite the offer being FREE and not involving their credit card.

What is the psychology behind this? Why do people do this lol?

And also I saw in the chatbox that these guys have made some big money like over $1k and $140K+ -> https://imgur.com/a/cUmzBAd

Are those from paid traffic? Just asking as you all are in this field for a long time.

No normal person buys everything they click on. I don't always buy things when I go into a store even to buy things I need.

For example, I go to buy milk but leave without milk. Why?

    It's all too expensive.

Or the kind of I want is out of stock.

Or the one I want has an expiration date closer than I'd like because I won't drink it so quickly.

Or I decide I don't need milk after all because we can just go out to eat tonight.

Or I decide to cook something else on the spur of the moment instead of cooking the thing that needs milk.

Hundreds or even thousands of reasons this happens. It's normal.

In your case, the link looks good but maybe the site looks dodgy (like I'm going to get cheated). They may look like spammers so I wouldn't even want to put my email in for a free thing. The colors of the site look unprofessional so I wonder about the quality. I get hit with too many popups and leave in anger.

Again tons of reasons people click but don't follow through. It's normal.

You are complaining about 10 clicks. Wait until it happens at scale and you have hundreds or thousands of people leaving your offer after clicking. Because it will happen. It does to everyone.

Thanks for the info. Thing is I am not from US. So, I cant see the direct offer page. I tried with VPN but still can't get to the site. I am using Unbounce for my landing but yeah u maybe right coz there could be too much pop ups and that so such high bounce rate.

So, is there any way to actually check the offer page in different GEO?

Also, this https://imgur.com/a/cUmzBAd . Do those look like from paid traffic? Damn, $145k+ from CPA offers. Wow.

You can make any revenue figure you want provided you're willing to pay for the qualified traffic to get it.

People are always so amazed by "The Big Number". It's stupid. You're sucked in by some number and yet have NO IDEA what's going on behind it.

$145K in revenue, okay; what about the $120K in traffic and conversion costs to earn it?

Let me see ALL the numbers behind that revenue figure: how did you get there?

Anyone who buys something because of the promise of The Big Number is a sucka who doesn't understand business.

Just think about how sometimes you just click something out of curiosity. Sometimes it might just mean that they are not convinced enough.

There have been times where I've clicked links and did not buy anything and then within a few days I come back and buy the same thing I had clicked on before.

I read in a copywriting book or somewhere that people need to see a message a certain amount of times before they make a purchase.

There are many, many reasons why people click but end up not following through. Marketing would be sooooo easy if everyone "finished" something that they started. It should not be a revelation that your marketing will not move everyone that sees it to taking action.

Have you ever been curious about something initially ... but then decided you weren't interested when you saw more? Of course, it happens all the time.

Have you ever decided that an offer didn't really fit your situation?

Have you ever thought that, upon further inspection, you didn't want to risk giving out your email address for fear of the spam you'd get in return?

Conversion at less than 100% is a given. Many marketers feel that a positive response from 2 people in 100 is great!

Welcome to the world of marketing.

I believe the number of times is 7 on average.

I would also add that for digital goods I might go so far as to check the domain name registration. Privacy and country of origin might give one pause as well as the domain name itself. Not deciding factors, but factors nonetheless.

Odds are OPs traffic that's not completing the offer are from countries the CPA network doesn't support.

Most CPA offers are targeted to specific countries. Probably not a lot of Burger Kings (ex: CPA gift card) in Nigeria (example) so pointless traffic for an advertiser.

When I made the post in niche FB groups, I specifically mentioned for US users. And I also said to use VPN for non-us peoples.

Also, I gave them two links of the same offer. One was for PC users and the other was for Mobile users.

      I clearly wrote everything

Also, those groups had mostly US people. I saw that on the type of posts and conversations.

A man goes to his next door neighbor and asks to borrow his lawnmower.

    The neighbor refuses.

The man asks why he would refuse, since the neighbor wasn't using it.

"Because it might rain next Tuesday," the neighbor replied.

"What kind of reason is that?"

"I don't want to lend you my lawnmower, so any reason I give is good enough."

If we can believe the figures you posted, you're getting conversions between 14% and 25% on an offer you can't even look at. Instead of ranting about the people who didn't sign up, thank your lucky stars for the conversion you are getting and get back to work...

You're getting a higher click-through-rate and lower CPM costs than you've ever had.But no one is converting on your landing page, I think that you MUST review these factors on your campaign:
    1. Your Landing Page doesn't use the same image/copy as your Ad
    2. Your Landing Page Is Taking Too long to Load
    3. Too Many Form Fields, this 'll kill the usability

I would not say that an email is a "lead" ... it is just an email addresss...

This is the same thing as if you owned a store, and people walked by the display window stopped and took a look and kept walking...

Then there are the people that come in and look...

Then there are the people that come in and look and pick a few things up and put them back down...

Then there are the people that put the product in their basket and might even make it to the register, then there is a line so they just walk away...

Then finally there is the person that buys the thing...

You are selling or trying to sell things people might WANT not things they NEED...

You got 5 emails out of 22 clicks, that is pretty good for the 1st part of the equation ... now take some time and figure out what you are doing with those 5 "leads" when you follow up with them...

It is a process, your job is to figure out every step of the conversion process and make it has appealing and efficient as possible...

It takes time and no one can tell you what is going to work or not going to work ... just there best guess on what has worked for them in the past ... with all the variables they tested with the traffic they drove to that exact offer, which can change over time...

    Just keep at it...

If "finish the thing" means buying, any of their reason is good.

If "finish the thing" is consume your content by reading or watching all of it, you have to know that people have an attention span of 8 seconds which is shorter than a goldfish (9 seconds). However, this statement might also be a myth.

Attention span and resistance to marketing are reasons why content needs to:

    Add value to people
    Help people
    Inspire people

A genuinely good offer with a lot of value combined with great copywriting will help to provide those 3 aspects.

With them, you have better chances that more people will "finish the thing". Of course, no offer can have a 100% conversion rate even if you had the best offer in the world.

People will avoid buying for 3 main reasons:

    They can't afford your offer
They are not interested in your offer
They don't believe that your offer will work for THEM.

If your offer is good enough and you market it to the right audience, those 3 aspects should be eliminated in a better proportion.

    Wishing you the best!

You may try a different browser user and a paid private proxy to access the cpa offer landing page.

Getting many clicks and no conversions is quite normal.
Perhaps you should make your own landing page and direct to the cpa page.

Most high earners in cpa use paid traffic. Some really invest a lot in paid traffic. So the numbers you showed make sense, but they are not all pure traffic. You should consider the advertising expenses, split testing etc.

I think you are wasting energy being upset over this. People don't always accept 'something' just because it's 'free'. You are promoting this particular offer because you see others claiming they've made 'big money' with that offer?

You are targeting the US consumer -

I specifically mentioned for US users...

...those groups had mostly US people
Seems you have not SEEN the offer you are promoting?

    I'm not from the US...

... I just can't see the damn CPA offer as I am not from the US
Let me be politically incorrect for a moment. It seems everyone targets the "US market". There is a resistance to that in the US so if anything about your offer or your email or site text says "not in US"....conversion may be a problem.

You are promoting an offer you haven't seen to people you don't understand - not an easy sell...even when it's free. Make adjustments and try again.

hello buddy, first of all, let me tell you that this is a struggle that is real for most of the marketers out there, so you should only learn how to really attract them, and also target exactly the right audience, that is truly interested on what you are promoting. One other thing, is that you should go for paid traffic, cause like that, it's more better to generate leads. Depending on what you are promoting too, you could try to work with a spy-tool, that could help you out with the analytic of your campaign, and testing, besides spying your competitors, and see how they promote, the tools they use, and try to duplicate that! I wish this to be helpful!

Something to keep in mind is that maybe once they click on the link, promotion, or whatever it may be it could take them somewhere they may not like or think it was going to be. Double check you are targeting the right market that matches your brand personality. You may be reaching the wrong type of audience.

Another thought you have to remember is that you are creating brand awareness. Being in your face and always showing up through email and social media is a great way for consumers to start to remember you. They may not buy something in the moment, but when they realize they need your product they will come back as long as you have been consistent with reminding them who you are.

Promotional links belong in your sig, not in every post. Please read the rules.

One more reason could be the source of your traffic.

There could be people who want to see how you are running your offer and clicking out of curiosity.

For example if I source the audience from this forum regarding my upcoming SEO course then I may attract a lot of clicks from people who just wanna see my lending page for learning purpose rather than actually buying my course.

Change the source of your traffic and then compare the results. One quick way is buying traffic from google where people have buying intent.

That's just how online consumers act. They show a small interest to click and then they read over the product or landing page and make a quick decision as to whether or not they want that opportunity. Even if it is free. You should make sure that the landing page is eye catching. It needs to sell your consumer within a few seconds before they decide to click away or to fill out a lead form...buy the product, etc.

Well you still got results from your efforts. People don't "finish" for a wide variety of reasons. But you shouldn't be concerned about that as a marketer. At point the only thing you need to be concerned about is finding more targeted people to complete the offer so you can get your affiliate commission.

Good question. Like other People have mentioned there can be many reasons.

One of them (that I haven't seen mentioned) is that your Copy/Sales Page/etc. isn't all that compelling. Many of them are just plain boring.
And -- if you were to improve it ― it would increase your conversions.

    P.S.
I don't care how great you think your Copy (etc.) is ... Most of the time there is always room for improvement. Even with free offers ― they have to be "sold."
