Trying Again Years Later - What's New

It's been years since I have played around with making money online in general. Started off slow and picked up when I learned about affiliate marketing. Saw some success after some effort but then things went downhill when SEO and everything started changing.

Got discouraged because I needed steady income and I just wasn't doing something right to generate steady income online so I got a regular job. Anyway, fast forward to now and I'm ready to give it another shot. My plan is to make a set number of cash by building a few sites, getting them to earn a set amount of money, and selling them. Simple as that.

Was wondering if anything major has changed that has made it more difficult or easier for affiliate marketers to make money online. Or what would be a simple set of instructions for someone trying to get into affiliate marketing in 2018?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The principles of economics (supply and demand), scarcity, value-added, custom-fit solutions, and the psychology of why consumers buy have not really changed much over the years.

What has changed are the marketplaces, the tools for executing an online business, and the competition in nearly every niche. You will have to work smarter and more strategically if you want to be successful in today's online selling environment. Buyers have the power because there are so many buying alternatives.

Most successful marketers today (that I know):
    • Focus on a particular niche where the demand is strong and money flows easily,
    • Gather an audience in the niche and provide them with relevance, value, and assistance when needed,
    • Build a subscriber email list from the outset and nurture your list with valuable niche suggestions, info, and assistance,
    • Create your own products or find great niche products that you can sell for a commission based on the demand by your customers. Make sure you own and use the product and that it provides good value for the money before you recommend that your audience purchase it,
    • Stand behind everything related to your business - the products, the affiliate recommendations, your business policies, your guarantee, your offers, and your suggestions,
    • Go out and command success. No one is going to give you anything because you've decided to go into online business. Be bold and genuine and show your prospects why dealing with your business is their only logical choice in the niche!
    The best to you,

    You need Traffic

    and then you need Conversion.

You send traffic to a conversion tool to make money.

    That's it.

    In any era.

    With any technology.

Write it out on paper first, then plug in the technology to do it.

Where are you going to get your consistent, quality traffic from?

What conversion tool will you use to turn some of that traffic into buyers?

It's all up to you. No magic bullets or can't-lose niches.
