What's going on with CPVLab?

There has been no update for over a year but they are still charging the annual update fee and some guy named Radu is emailing me to sell CPVLab Pro. Support answered my ticket after a 2 week delay and said that Robert Matthews has health problems. Support is available if I want to pay $30 per month but refunds are not possible until Robert is healthy.

Does anyone know more than this?

What would you need to know in addition to what you already do know? Seems like you have all of the info you need to make an informed decision as to wether or not you wish to continue using the product.

    Cheers.

Well, we as users feel scammed because:

      1) The official CPV Lab asks us to pay extra $30/month to get customer support, when we already paid for it when we acquired the license. They call it "upgrade", but it's not because it was already included in the license. It's to pay twice. Plus, it's a matter of fact they don't know how to solve this log-in issue.

      2) The apparently illegitime CPV Lab Pro ask us to pay $99 to migrate and use a copy-&-paste software but without log-in issues.

But of course, you are right in your point: whatever it is, if we want to keep working on our business we must move forward. Since it's not a question of wishing to use this product (because we just cannot right now), we should move to another solution. The sooner, the better.

Yeah man - im with you. It is essentially extortion or flat out is, but at the end of the day, i just want access to my shit.

I have 3 licenses so testing the $99 extortion fee and fix on a dormant one. They literally make you a few custom files to upload over what is currently live on the tracking domain and supposedly it works.

Will report back when I know one way or the other if it works.

Beyondhosting have just told me they developed a patch to solve this issue. If you use them to host your CPV Lab, contact them and ask to install it.

I just did. I'll tell here if it works or not as soon as I receive their feedback.

I wish I knew that before I paid the $99. I submitted a ticket about all of this just yesterday.

You would think they would reach out to say - HEY - here's a patch.

Also I dont have all of my licenses with them, so not sure it would have worked outside.

Also, the $99 extortion fee you pay for the patch from the defected developer does work in case anyone was wondering. Tested it on a dormant license and its good.

got this from my hosting after i wasn't able to log into cpvlab this morning:

I have really unfortunate news for you.

We were contacted by Mo @ CPVLab this morning and informed that Robert (Owner of CPVLab) has been missing for the better part of 2 months now. One of their previous developers has gone rogue as well and is attempting to extort customers to change their CPVLab over to his clone version, we also believe that he is trying to take down the current license server in efforts to force users into his version.

We are actively working on getting control of the current CPVLab license servers (hosted at another provider) in attempts to harden the system so that CPVLab continues to work. We are also trying to get access to the unencoded source so that we can provide users access into their CPVLab installations who are being affected by this.

At this time we do not have any concrete information to the future of CPVLab, but we can assure you we are doing our best to help the remaining team get the company back under control.

I am terribly sorry about this and we will do everything we can to help both CPVLab and you the end user.

the only advantage of using CPVLab has is that you can host it on your own server and buy a 3rd party add-on and do multivariate testing if you want to. But that's just not enough of a reason for me to stick with it.
For me, Voluum is the tracking system I'll be using moving forward.

I see that CPVLab has many many of problems in their project as:
-bogs down server at about 500k+ clicks
-requires a VPS or Dedicated server to run well
-requires a secure server to auto-post conversions
    -self Hosted
    -It's Kinda Ugly
    -lack of Updates

I'm assuming that is from Beyond or another CPV Lab approved hosting provider.

What happens if you are not a customer of Beyonds though?

At this point, I'm willing to pay the $99 extortion fee if it means me getting back inside of my tracker so i can at least make a clean sweep as I transition to a new platform and not miss anything.

In the grand scheme of things, what really is $99 when you're spending hundreds or even thousands a day on traffic and you thought you could run a lot of your business through a self hosted tracker?

Yeah 100% agree with you on this.

I will pay the fee just to get in, and then move on.

They are just trying to raise capital to move forward after whatever internal dispute there was.

But it could have been handled with the PAID customers a lot differently

I've got the same response from Beyondhosting today.

However, something really fishy is going on here.

"Official" CPV Lab's customer supports asked me as well $30/month for an "upgrade" which includes customer support. Which was included in the license I bought 5 months ago. So they are asking me to pay again for a thing is already paid.

On the other hand, I also contacted that "CPV Lab Pro" as I was a potential new customer. Just out of curiosity. I asked them which features make a difference between CPV Lab 3.01 and CPV Lab Pro.
    This is what they replied:

Currently CPV Lab Pro is quite the same as CPV Lab 3.01, but using the new licensing server that doesn't have those issues.
The point is... I didn't tell them I had log-in issues at all beforehand.

    This is what they answered:

Users running the old CPV Lab application, the one which we are not associated with, reported having login issues in their instances caused by struggles in the licensing server.

In CPV Lab Pro we use a new licensing server that is optimized periodically in order to avoid such issues. This is the main improvement currently and we are working hard on the next version from July 2018.
With a list of new features it's supposed they are working on.

    Fishy.

      Beyondhosting's patch works. Now I can log-in again :-)

However, as sadid before: all of this is very fishy. So I think the best next movement will be to change my tracking system. Today was the license server. Tomorrow can be the whole software, or whatever.

CPV Lab has proved it's not reliable at all.

Yeah i just asked them why they didn't offer a patch to me since I just reached out to them about all of this.

Either way, I'm moving off, but definitely helps to have access inside to make it easier to expedite.

Glad we're getting in one way or the other.

Also since I'm moving off, now Beyond will lose me as a customer. Me and probably hundreds of others.

I paid the stupid extortion fee and i can login now. Having access to my campaigns is all i care about.

Definitely could have been handled a different way by both parties. The customers always end up being the collateral damage one way or the other.

Can't see how any new potential customers wouldn't come across this thread or others like it when doing their due diligence on a tracker and want to use CPV Labs, but maybe they will miss it

CPV Lab Support Team guys only offer support if you pay them extra. Doesn't matter if support service was already in the license you paid. Or you pay again, or you don't get it.

After ignoring my messages asking for help due to the log-in issue (now solved by Beyondhosting in my case), I told them if they could assist me if I agree to pay those $30/month extra. Then, they finally replied me this:

Please feel free to contact me directly on mo@setyourcampaign.com or through my helpdesk at:

    https://setyourcampaign.com/support

to answer all your questions and inquiries.
So Mo and Sam, from CPV Lab Support Team, created a kind of "new upgraded service", which is the same service we already paid for.

And be aware: if they couldn't fix this log-in issue by themselves (my host provider did it), maybe you pay them 30 bucks and you don't get anything in exchange.

Definitely, all of this is very fishy. And the best solution is to move to another solution right away.

Out of curiosity, I opened a ticket in this "Premium Support" (not premium at all, since it's supposed we already paid for it when acquired CPV Lab license).

Here, they replied right away. Here you go their answer:

As Robert Matthews disappeared and no one knows where he is, I started to provide paid premium support service to CPV Lab users through my won helpdesk and my own website.

You can see service details and subscribe through this link:

      [link]

As for login issue, I have already created a fix pack as a permanent fix for login issue for $30.

To get it applied to your CPV Lab install, you can send fix fees via paypal to [emailaddress]@gmail.com, send me payment reference number here and I will proceed with applying fix to your CPV Lab install.
So if we want to use the software we already paid, we have to pay a ransom or to the current/former/whatever CPV Lab official Customer Support, or to that copy&paste CPV Lab Pro.

So guys, if you have Beyondhosting ask them to install the patch.

If you don't have Beyondhosting, there is a guy who developed his own patch in the BlackHatWorld forum:

      https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/cpv-lab-warning.1031433/#post-11074990

I tried myself and it works, but of course I cannot guarantee it does something else behind. So it's at your own risk.

    Hello there,

We are the development team from old CPV Lab, currently working on CPV Lab Pro. We heard that there are discussions and we want to tell our point of view.

We started working with Robert back in 2010 on CPV Lab as partners. He took care of promoting the tool, we took care of the development. However, in the last year Robert showed a lack of interest in the product and no version was released for more than one year. He started telling all kind of stories (identity theft, health issues, etc) which at some point started to sound strange. After discussions and his lack of involvement we decided to split and each go on his path. The only persons that have the rights to use the source code of the product are us and Robert.

It seems like Robert really disappeared lately, as nobody knows anything about him for more than 2 months now.

Initially we wanted to create a new product based on the features from CPV Lab and to launch it this summer. But when we noticed that Robert stopped answering emails or support tickets, even though we informed him that the licensing server was having issues, we just thought to make our new server available earlier for old CPV Lab users that had access issues. Unfortunately all this switching involves work to create custom files for each domain, so we had to put a fee for it.

We don't force anybody to switch, probably we could have stayed put and take care of our new product, but it was hard to just watch how the product you worked on for so many years is abandoned. So, we took action and informed the users about this difficult situation.

We also had a talk with Mo, who was working at CPV Lab help desk, a few weeks ago and told us that Robert didn't answer him either and informed us that he would like to join our team... but apparently he changed his mind.

Anyway, this is it and that's our story. We didn't have any involvement in the crashing of the licensing server, we just knew the database was struggling because nobody was optimizing it.

We are sorry that by our desire to help users we just managed to make CPV Lab look bad... it is really not what we intended, as we really believe in this tool!

Our team is motivated to continue improving the product and we are currently working on the next version that will be released in July. We are getting users' feedback and the new version will include many features that have been requested for a long time.

If you believe in this tool than honor your paying customers and don't leave them high and dry with software that they paid for being totally unusable due to the way you have your licensing designed and programmed! It is the equivalent of selling someone a car only to change their keys and lock them out of their own car. And you honestly expect people to support you or pay you after such a fiasco??? Seriously? How out of touch and unscrupulous do you have to be?

The proper way to go about if you honestly wanted to have the support and trust of your customers is by doing the honorable thing and either creating a patch or facilitating a transition/migration into a new method of authenticating the software that YOU built (as you admitted) and let people whose money you gladly took make a decision if they want to continue to use your software (which you just are claiming as yours) NOT hold them hostage they way you are. I will call you out that what you are doing is a complete and utter unethical scam and you have pissed off and lost the trust and credibility of everyone. Don't try to play the victim here or the good samaritan because you are neither, you are an opportunistic, unethical scumbag. If you wanted to HELP your customers you would create a path of migration and not try to scam them and hold them hostage the way you are. Shame on you!

a Few years ago i was looking for an option to host my tracking software by my self. CPVLab seems to be partner for doing it. I bougth the 1.7 version for 247$, upgrade to 2.xx for 147$ and later for also 147$ to a 3.1 version. it all includes ''lifetime support'' (who's life it will be?)

Anyway, i've payed a louzy 550 bucks to get nothing at all... I was happy with the software and managed it fully by myself (that was my goal for buying it) I think, the owners of cpvlab have never thought that tracking would become such a great business as it is today and they will change their businessplan telling us a lot of bullsh*t

It's fully legal and okay to change your businessplan BUT don't disadvantage your excisting customers, because, without excisting customers, CVPLab has NEVER became a business at all!
At this moment a lot of people are thinking like me, why we have to pay for something we already payed for?

I hope there will be a good patch fot this software in the future so we can pay back the ''bisuness owners'' for their lack of compassion to their old customers..

I totally agree with lonewolf, cpvlab was/is good brand but with all this fiasco with developers owners, the brand is going through a slow death. You can certainly asks for upgrade fee although we all paid lifetime license, but you also certainly understand thats final nail in the coffin. If people ask whats a good tracker, can you recommend me one, there won't be cpvlab . Its not too late to undo the damage done to the existing customers. I can tell you the brand cpvlab will not exist a year from now...

    Hello everybody,

The reason why CPV Lab users are having troubles with the login in their installs is that the cpvlab.com website is down for a few days now. And it looks like nobody will do anything about it.

Some of you said that we should have migrated everybody for free to CPV Lab Pro. Maybe we were not brave enough to invest hundreds of hours in support and hundreds of hours in developing custom files. Agree!

But we kept our promise and everyone using CPV Lab Pro has no issues with the login, has full support and is using new features (from version 4.0).

In all our years working on CPV Lab we always provided good software, and we want to continue that. The management issues within CPV Lab will not affect the quality of the CPV Lab Pro product.

We are continuing with the CPV Lab Pro project which has a new version (4.0) released last month and we have already started to work on the next version that will be released this winter.

Current CPV Lab users can start using CPV Lab Pro and keep all their existing Campaigns and Stats data, while getting also the benefits from version 4.0 and support in our Help Desk.

The most important features added in CPV Lab Pro 4.0 are:

    - PHP 7.x support in addition to current PHP 5.x support
    - Improved database access for faster redirects in the base pages
    - Ability to Update Exact CPC/CPV Per Keyword/Target or Ad
    - Allow new tokens to be passed to Landing Pages and Offer Pages in order to offer more customizations
    - Features to comply with the European GDPR regulations
    - API (Application Programming Interface) that allows fetching data from the database into other tools or applications
    - Improved campaign cloning, including the option to clone a campaign to a different campaign type
    - Visual enhancements in the interface
    - Online documentation

You can start with CPV Lab Pro here:

    Thank you

      - Improved database access for faster redirects in the base pages (Disable license checks then everything works fast)

      - Ability to Update Exact CPC/CPV Per Keyword/Target or Ad (Useless feature)

      - Allow new tokens to be passed to Landing Pages and Offer Pages in order to offer more customizations (Useless feature)

      - Features to comply with the European GDPR regulations (Nobody cares)

      - API (Application Programming Interface) that allows fetching data from the database into other tools or applications (Useless feature)

      - Improved campaign cloning, including the option to clone a campaign to a different campaign type (Useless feature)

      - Visual enhancements in the interface (Adds to performance issues, useless)

      - Online documentation (Expected!)

Thats it? So your asking for $150 more for these useless features? Were these features asked for by the existing customer database? Probably not, as i don't see anything here that's a show stopper or a reason why i should have to pay $150 more!

No it doesn't. v3.01 is encoded with ionCube for PHP 5.6. Therefor doesn't work with later versions of PHP

Most hosting companies allow you to select multiple versions of PHP. Select what works.

No, nothing is solved. CPV Lab doesn't have support any more. The boss just vanished and their team split and created two alternatives which are mostly the same.

If you buy it now, the login won't work. You'll need a patch, which you can find around (at your own risk) or available in Beyondhosting if you are a customer. Former CPV Lab team will offer you the same patch for money.

    So it's up to you.

    Hi everybody!

We want to clarify some things. CPV Lab Pro is not using any hacked file as we see some of you decided to use.

CPV Lab Pro is using its own code, not some third party patch. We can guarantee for our code and we offer support for our users and assist them with any issues they may have in their campaigns.

We have a new powerful license server and also the login process was optimized.

Also, version 4.0 that was released in July 2018 has many code optimizations and new features which are highly appreciated by our users. The general feedback for the new version was very positive, with no issues reported by our users.

Yes, CPV Lab Pro started with the same core code and interface as CPV Lab, but it is much optimized and also the new features included in our latest version make a big difference.

Once our winter version will be launched, more features will be available.

    Thanks

WOW you actually have the NERVE to post here? After what you guys did? You have balls. The reputation of CPVLAB has been severely tarnished. I suggest you stop trying to explain anything. It does not matter anymore. FRAUDSTERS!

ALSO, if you wanted to help people you would have supplied the license check files to your existing customers with the LICENSE CHECK DISABLED. You call yourself the developers, you could have easily done that. You OWE it to those who purchased the version BEFORE YOU BAILED and those who paid the ridiculous upgrade costs less than a year ago, BEFORE YOU BAILED! But you didn't. Instead now you want to push v4 inflated by $100 to make a buck! GTFO!

CPVLABS has pulled a fast exit strategy rending everyone's installation copy useless. They removed the licensing server which resulted in everyone getting the message about being unable to login.

What a company, this is a downright SCAM! After your purchased the first year you were required to renew a a hefty price. And they offered no updates over the years. I think i counted 2.

    After submitting multiple tickets asking why i could not access my installation some dude named MO stated the following in his response;

" This is Mo, previously from CPV Lab team and currently founder and managing director of SetYourCampaign.com and SYC Tracker.

As you may have heard, since the disappearance of Robert Matthews CPV Lab owner and CPV Lab is no more managed or supported by anyone.

And since CPV Lab website is down, it's taken as CPV Lab is a dead program.

However, as a CPV Lab user, SetYourCampaign is more than happy to offer you to choose one of the below options:

    1. Link and existing CPV Lab install you have to SYC license server for onetime fees $50

    2. Get a SYC Tracker lifetime license for $100 instead of original price which is $300

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Thanks,
    Mo"

Now they are trying to sell your something else. My reply was not very pleasant, basically told the guy what to do with his version.

    In the past few weeks they are taken down the following domains;
    cpvlabs.com
    thelabhelpdesk.com

So good luck if you want to revisit these domains.

The last time i was able to access my site was 38days ago but today i got back into my version by disabling their LICENSE CHECKS. So my self hosted version is running once again.

They want to play dirty? I can do the same thing. I replied to this MO telling him that i disabled the licensing feature in my copy and now i can use it from where i left off. SUE ME STUPID! They've committed enough fraud already!

Tonight i noticed that they are pushing CPVLAB PRO via adwords. Incredible! So they phased out the old version, screwed everyone by disabling their licenses and created a new version that they hope to sell? WOW!

I HOPE nobody buys v4! In fact, i will be posting videos on YT and ranking them as high as possible in an effort to warn everyone about CPVLAB PRO and what they did to everyone.

Am i pissed off? You bet! Ripped off but not spat out yet!

My version 3.01 is back up!

So... if you were a noob and looking for a new tracking option (say you never started with CPVLab -- which I bet is true) what would you use? Prosper202 (self-hosted but also did a bit of shady biz in the recent past), or something like voluum, improvely, or other hosted options (but I hear they might be stealing your campaign info)...
