Trending contents refer to those contents which are popular and famous in current time. There can various topics which are popular with respect to current time and Trend. However there are some topics which are always in demands or the talk of that particular topic always go on irrepective of the trend and time .

  • If your content becomes obsolete then it was never evergreen to begin with.

If you're in the technology niche, yes, most of the content would be trending but there are a many other niches and topics that require evergreen content. The key to keeping evergreen content relevant is to update it once in a while to make sure it continues to provide value to your audience. You don't just write it and forget it.

With trending content, you always need to work on it. For example, Android Oreo is out, there will be a lot of keywords looking Oreo related content

Whereas in evergreen content like how to check bandwidth usage for an ISP. That is going to stay for a long time. Nothing is always evergreen, it is just a matter of terminology

In my opinion, trending content is something hot, helpful in short period of time; while evergreen content is something people always look for.
In the technology niche, the difference between trending and evergreen content is not much, because the technology recently has changed so fast.

Trending content is propelled by a specific current event, news or announcements.
