Product Launch Method Ideas

I am starting development on a new piece of software for a particular industry. I plan to release it roughly a year from now. So before i start driving interest i wanted to see what you all thought was a good template to go by. trying to get a good idea for when i should start trying to get it noticed by the industry and what not. Also what are some good tips to get attention.

    SOP, Standard Operating Procedure:

    Working model.

    SMALL group BETA test.

Larger group Beta after first test and fixes.

Leverage off of the Beta testers, they should be influencers.

Soft rollout to their spheres of influence.

    Collect testimonials.

PRE launch buzz, press releases, articles from users.

LAUNCH. Use what you have and do a full distribution. Depending on the software and market, niche or general. the price, etc. You could piggy back, JV, affiliate market it.

It is good you are thinking now, because a year will go by very fast.

I already have my beta's lined up. I am working concurrently with a business in this Niche manually doing things that this will automate. We are also kind of double using this as a means to expand a marketing business concept and proving it. So we are using this for two purposes. However that will give me maybe 20-50 people by the end of the year to use this on which is great, but you pointed out their "spheres of influence". I don't know that these people have that great of spheres other than the main guy i am working with. I am hoping by the time we reach 20-50 people that might equate to hopefully 2 per person or something to start with and hope it snowballs from there. I definitely want to do a clickbank affiliate kind of thing with this as well to not only launch the product but to take the marketing business to the next level as they are somewhat tied together. At what point should i launch a webpage for be doing webinars and things do you think? 3 months prior to launch? submit out a bunch of press releases and advertise with influencers around that time too and provide them affiliate links? That should give them time to use a pre release copy to use and write up reviews on their blogs/vlogs and things. Now that i think about it I might have 1 big influencer on the hook, and possibly 2 once he hears the concept. I am just wondering about timing. How much time is to much or to little time to create the most optimal buzz about my product and/or service?

OK. Here is a question to ask. Is this software going to be around for awhile? You want OPTIMAL buzz, which is good, and you have an affiliate program in mind.

You have set a time frame, a year from now, Memorial Day in USA. So, you will be launching roll out in June, or beginning of Summer.

Backward chain that. 90 days before that, can your website and funnel be operational? Will you be able to take money and deliver the software?
You want a shake down period to test your sales machine, make sure people can get it, and use it.

So before the Launch DATE allow 90 days for this. These are arbitrary, you have to come up with your own based on your progress.

So, in 9 months, the software has been tested, applied, and used, bugs worked out and ready to be sold. With June 1 a target date (as example) your site would be ready March 1 and you can send local area press releases.

TEST your money machine, make it perfect. Maybe on May 1, you put it up on Clickbank or your affiliate choice, and don't promote it yet, but make sure via one of your Beta testers, your affiliate program works.

This means a promotion, and if it is going up May 1, you want to allow at least 90 days before that, so start writing the copy or have it written or begun by Feb.1. Give your copywriter access to the software, and the beta guys.

When you use this backward chain method, you can set up some specific time goals as to when you should do what.

Keep in mind, if it truly is a NEW software, the launch is just the beginning, you want something long term, and I mention this because your posts are showing a want/need to have a BIG grand opening, but keep the marathon in mind, not just the sprint to the marketplace.

Over the next couple of YEARS, sales will come via SATISFIED CUSTOMERS, and it would be wise to focus on that within the time frame you set up.

      Good luck.

      GordonJ

PS. i think you have all the elements in place, just get your dates written down and go over them, YOU will have a clearer understanding of when to pull the trigger on what.

There are some new and unique things in the application and some are integrations with other api's. Thanks for helping me develop a timeline.
