Targeting an Audience in a "Weird" Niche

Hello. I'm learning to do Facebook Ads and I'm having trouble with targeting an audience in my niche. I am in the teeth grinding niche but I'm not sure how to narrow down my audience.

It's confusing, because 6% of the population grinds their teeth but that population is spread out all over, so it's not like I can only target Denver, Colorado. Also, these people don't necessarily follow people or read magazines related to teeth grinding.

If I was targeting Golfers, I could narrow my audience down by their interests such as Golf Digest or Rory Mcilroy, but with teeth grinding I'm not sure how to narrow it down by interests.

Can anyone help give me some ideas to narrow down my targeting? I've been brainstorming all week and can't quite figure it out!

I appreciate the help.

Tim

I doubt you'll find a direct method of targeting 'tooth grinders' as a group. As you say, people with that problem are all over the place.

So, the next step is looking at 'teeth grinding' as a symptom of something else, like stress. I'm just guessing at that, but I'm also guessing that a couple of hours of focused research would give you a laundry list of things that might cause tooth grinding.

Then you try to target people with those issues in their lives. Or if you find demographic profiles that tend to have the problem, you look for ways to reach that demographic.

For example, ratings measurements have pegged the audiences of shows like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune as skewing toward seniors. So the ads on those shows tend to be for things like Medicare supplements, final-expense life insurance, denture products, etc.

You may need to do the same. Good luck to you.

Sometimes you don't have to. I don't see anything wrong with targeting your overall Niche.

The first step; remove the "weird" work aka unclear, awkward energy and replace with "helpful." Many humans grind their teeth and would love to come across your Facebook ad or blog or video of product or affiliate offer. Gotta clear those fear-based energies and it'll be easier to see and use the rocking practical advertising tips offered by fellow Warriors.

Are you already getting traffic to your site from people that are interested in your niche?

If so, place that facebook pixel... build it up, and then create a lookalike audience from it. Let facebook's algorithm do the targeting

You might be better off with google adwords... much easier to target it appears and the CPC doesn't look too high

There's nothing weird about the niche. You're worrying about frontend, but you should be focusing on backend. Because even if you get sales on the frontend, but you're still losing money from advertising costs... how will you ever make your money back, and go into profit? Before you hop into ANY niche, figure out how you're going to make your money back heavily in the long run. The advertising medium comes afterwards.

The target is not as narrow as you think. Some quick reading indicates that with age the issue gets worse. So you can narrow your field to people ages 20 to 60. Keep in mind that within that age group most people will have a " significant other " meaning you are not reaching 6% of the population but could be reaching 12%

So a line like " Do you or someone you know grind their teeth in their sleep? " one statement doubles your reach, if not more. At what point does the person grinding their teeth tell mom and dad or a brother or sister? So your 6% of population could be as much as 24% of population either grinds their teeth or knows someone that does.

Target LESS, and create a headline that reaches more!

Want to know an extremely successful strategy to get links and gain rankings? This one is actually a sub-strategy of the "limited edition" link building strategy.

Instead of making huge adaptations to your product or service, make small changes to make the product suitable for a weird niche audience.

If I'm not wrong teeth grinding is also related to snorting, so maybe you can target people that have shown some interest also in that topic

Have you tried considering influencer marketing? You should be able to target specific audiences if you work with influencers who are also in the same niche as you are. That would make things easier.

If you are find it difficult to get interest keyword.

You can use a free tool called Audience Insight.

Add a broad interest keyword related to your niche.

Then you'll be able to discover some other targeting interest in your niche.
