Publishing books in different languages

I was thinking about publishing one of my books in a different language so I can maybe reach a wider range of people. What's your take on this good people?

It's a great idea . . . if . . .investing in this new book gives you the ROI that you desire (including the translation costs).

Before you translate, however, you would be smart to research the marketplace for your book in the new language. Sometimes geography and language create barriers in certain specific niches.

    Good luck,

      Case in point: (from Wikipedia)

This pie chart would (on the surface), suggest that the largest audience on the internet is from English-speaking countries, followed closely by Chinese-speaking users.
Percentage of Internet users by language

      However...
this map indicates that China has the highest level of censorship/surveillance.
Internet censorship and surveillance by country
Access to/acquisition of Chinese traffic might prove to be overly problematic.

There is a vast amount of information available from Wikipedia if you take the time to understand everything that is presented.

  • I agree on the research part. Before doing anything else, you may need to look at your market, especially the market demand. You have to weigh in the investment costs VS the possible ROI.
