You Guys Up For a Challenge?

Hey guys so I have a rather large opportunity but I am not exactly sure how to approach it. Im turning to WF for help and suggestions. My father owns a large heavy duty truck repair business here in Miami, FL. He owns a good percentage of the market and has contacts all over the place with other repair shops, parts dealers, and just about everyone in the industry. I have been trying to come up with a way to do some offline marketing with the abundance of information available to me. I literally have access to all his clients, all of his business contacts, everything. Now the only problem with this is that I know the general trucker is not really into the Internet much and some dont even know how to use it. I first thought of creating business pages for all these industries for a fee and collecting leads and building their email list, but do you guys really think that would work with such harsh demographics? I am open to all suggestions as to how I can monetize this opportunity. If anyone has something to offer I would be extremely grateful. Thank you all in advance.

    What company doesn't want to be on the internet I say... Times are changing, why not approach them with that attitude. With stuff like the iphone and phones like it, computers are everywhere. In about 5 years, normal phones will be dead and the age of the smart phone will begin. Possible mobile application, just a thought.

    Hmmmm, With all of those contacts, you could easily sell internet marketing services to these companies. Learn how to get them on the #1 spot on google as well as 5 more spots and charge them a premium on a monthly continuity basis.

    Hey guys, the thing with this is that in order to sell these guys, I'm going to actually have to show them how it's going to make them money. They want to see results before they buy. I have to somehow turn their current clientele into repeat buyers and get targeted leads for them online in the 18 wheeler market. Any more specific ideas? Thanks for the help I really appreciate this.

      It's people like you with no idea how to market specific businesses, that burn reputable marketing companies in the future. That being said, you have time to formulate a strategy and you're trying to get an answer instead of winging it, so that's a good choice.

      You know you're in a TOUGH field. It's full of blue collar guys that don't give a F. They work hard and "Don't need no fancy Internet", the truth is, they don't. They need sales. The key is targeting their demographic. If you approach them with a web page idea, please give up. It's not about that. It's bringing them sales. How do they accept sales? Via telephone likely. So, take the approach that you can market their services on Adwords, Y!, MSN, FB, etc and create a jump page with their phone number or a contact form. Yes, this is still a web page and lead based, but don't charge for the site until they're seeing some leads. Eventually though, you need to be thinking of getting paid per lead, and as I mentioned above, the way they accept leads is VERY difficult to track without routing it through a centralized number so that is something you'll have to find a workaround on.

      Look at all the companies providing leads for contractors (ServiceMagic comes to mind) it's a tough industry and you're dealing with a client base that gets more business from word of mouth then advertising so your ability to bridge that gap is very difficult. Not saying you can't do it, just saying do it right, you have a good potential client list - so think it through.

      Besides, your dad's rep is involved.
