So You Want To Make Money? A Guide To Getting Things Done
Anyways, quick background. A few months back I began internet marketing and it should be known that as a senior in high school, my time is limited. I only have a couple hours a day to dedicate to IM and as such, I make a point to make sure that the time I DO get to spend online is spent well.
- Write Down Your Goals: You've heard it before and I'm gonna tell you again. Staring at a piece of paper won't do your work for you, but it'll go a hell of a long way towards helping you actualize those goals.
- Challenge Yourself: See how many articles you can write in an hour, or a day even. See how many backlinks you can get built this afternoon. Set the bar higher, and soon you'll jump high enough to clear it.
- Work In Targeted Bursts: Alright, so when getting traffic to your sites or articles, you want it be targeted right? What good are tons of visitors if none of them are interested in buying? Now apply this concept to YOUR WORK: What good are hours of work if you never get any ONE THING done? So don't alt-tab all over the place, work HARD on one thing, get it done, then work HARD on something else.
- Listen To Music: Ok, right about now you might be going: "What the hee haw is this kid talking about?" Yup, music. Sitting for hours staring at the same thing is boring, not every minute of IM is seeing money in your account and being thrilled. If this disctracts you while writing, don't do it. But I've found that repetitive tasks like link building are A GAZILLION times more fun if you're listening to your favorite tunes.
- Carve Your OWN Path: THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT. One of the greatest assets of IM is that their are a million and one ways to succeed. The best way to go about it is to take everyone's advice and mold it into a formula that works for you. STAY FOCUSED in your own direction because trying to follow every new shiny method you see will end in a whole lot of half-assed projects.
So basicaly... GET GOING! You've taken your forum break, now it's time to put that motivation I know you've got brewing INTO ACTION!
