Buying & Building Websites (Adsense/Affliated Marketing)

Hi guys, I've been away from doing internet marketing for some time. I was wondering since I've spare during my 9-6 job I would try to find some time to build mini micro/niche websites and was wondering if it will be sustainable to make a living providing good contents and making money through just ad sense and affiliate marketing alone.

I've some savings which I would like to invest in flippa websites, however I've been scammed once before back in 2011 when I first started out. Was wondering how many of you guys have a full time job yet actually build websites from scratch adding in 1-2 new articles a week and managed to earn a bit of small income? Since I've time I'd say why not? Go to the library, borrow some books get content ideas and get a domain. Write articles and post them weekly.

Understand that there's also lots of work to be done other than content creation. I dont plan to make a full time living making mini sites but hope I'll be able to get some spare change over the year or the next.

What do you guys think?

    Hi,
a lot of people have made a good living from doing what you are suggesting.

You certainly want to go about it the right way.

I used to have adsense on my sites year ago and make a bit from it, but fairly recently it has made very little.

Affiliate marketing is another matter - there is a lot to be made from it.

I have seen some good sites sold on Flippa that have good earnings - and I have looked into these myself.

Some of them have a lot of pages that rank on the first page of Google and I am sure there will be some good sites that you can purchase that can make you good money.

I have not purchased any myself - like you I build them myself and add my own articles.

Amazon is good because it gives you the opportunity to promote just about any items you can think of.

It is quite difficult to get sales though.

The commissions from Amazon are quite low about 4% to 15% I think.

Warriorplus and JVzoo are much better as the commissions are a lot better with 50% to 100% (on the front end - with plenty of upsales).

I would look on Flippa and see if you can find websites besides Amazon that offer higher commissions - ones that are JVzoo or Warriorplus based should be very good.

Whatever you choose I hope you do well!

    Best Regards
    Ged

Whatever content you have if you can get traffic to it you will do very well. There is so much content out there buried under the search engines and noone is reading it. You need a plan how you going to get traffic to the content you just produced.

One very successful way I have found to get traffic to my content is to use Youtube.

What I do is create a Youtube video and use the content in the description below the video.

Youtube allows 250 words of content - if you use your article heading as the same title of the Youtube video and have the same content in the description below the video you will often rank on page one for Youtube.

Youtube gets masses of traffic so you will usually get a lot of traffic using this method.

I have receive a lot of traffic using this method and it works month after month.

      Hope this helps.

I don't think mini sites do that well anymore. Today it seems that 'authority' sites that are consistent with new content get the most impact from SEO.

Flippa? If you are looking into a pre-made site, make sure the thing actually is ranking and getting traffic.

Adsense is not a best route for a 'primary' income source anymore. Maybe a secondary.

Yes, I agree that mini sites do not really do well as the traffic and reputation/page rank is much harder to develop as compared to authority sites which google seems to favor more. A website with proper contents and with consistent flow of traffic is the first step to ensure it does even make any money be it through ad sense/affiliate marketing or other types of monetization methods out there.
