Who have success with automated Wordpress blogs?

Dear fellow Warriors,

I am just curious if someone have sucess with automated blogs.
For some of my domains I want to setup automated blogs with Wordpress.
How do you promote them and what about duplicated content?
Do you also earn some money with automated blogs and do they rank well in Google?
I know I ask a lot of questions, but I want to learn more about it and I want to be sure if there is still money with automated blogs.

Looking forward to see your comments.

Kind regards,
Richard

I have one set up for my uncle, and though I have not done any IM for it within less than 12 hours it got picked up and indexed by googlebot. They are pretty straight forward and easy to set up, But am not sure in regards to the money aspect. But thats my 2 cents any way.

I have a private law of attraction blog at http://coaching.zenmack.com/15day

Can Google access the blog even though it is password protected?

I had not thought about doing any seo on it since it is totally private.

There may be other methods, but I found that authority of the domain is generally more important to whether the content is duplicated or not.

Meaning that with the right domain, I can outrank the original content that is duplicated

I get my traffic through quantity and the long tail. Meaning first I get a good domain and then just put up so many different pages that something will stick.

For monetization, some people use Adsense, but I cannot comment on that as I am not the Adsense expert, however my method is to use product feeds specifically from eBay, Amazon or Overstock.

Generally the people will be searching for the long tail term that is within the product feed (hence they are a ready buyer) and come to my site and quickly click through, thus giving me the commission.

So yes, positioned correct, Automated Blogs will give you the $$$

I wrote more about it in this thread

I've done it for a few World of Warcraft blogs. The traffic comes in good at first, then mine have always been deindexed.

I have 4 automated niche blogs and I'm pretty much satisfied the way search engines treating them. I am actually surprised coz all of them are getting PR's on the posts (with dupliacted contents on it).

About the ROI right now I would say it's on a + side considering I only had them for only 4 months. I am using eBay networks CJ and CB for monetization.

So, yeah, automated blogs works for me... at least for now
It's good for list building though...

I have a few, but they're kind of hybrid blogs. I added 10 or 20 unique pillar articles and then I set them to automate with feeds. The unique content gets me a lot more traffic than the feed posts, probably a ratio of 10-1 on a per post basis. So it takes a while for the blog to grow enough that the feeds make you any money. Make a bunch and be patient.

These were all new domains so maybe they would get more traffic to the feed posts on an older established domain.

I had one that went to PR4 in it's first month, but now it's back to 0. I assume it's because I put a CPA offer on there where I hadn't cloaked the link. So remember to always cloak your links. Currently I'm using the Pretty Link plugin for that.

Can google figure out what plugins you have on your blog?

I've had some success with them but they do tend to get de-indexed. Quite annoying, that.

When you get de-indexed, does it mean your site is sandboxed by google? Is it possible to get indexed again?

            Good question Charls.

I would say yes,in the past I had some blogs and the same happened.
They got sandboxed, but after a while the got indexed again and some even better then before.
But I have to say, those blogs were not automated.

Maybe another warrior can explain more about this?

hmm... how much work is done to get them indexed again? Do you have to revamp your blog or just continue doing what you're doing or add more value to your blog?

I have tested with tons of automated blogs(more than 150 blogs)

and now, i only use the automated to promote a main money blog. if they are duplicate, they will just be used to support the main niche blog

but i found out that just by putting a little effort to rewrite the content to make it 100% unique is the way to go

the search engine have evolved to catch on duplicate content, and oyu may receive a burst of traffic quickly, then lose it all. with that your motivation will decrease when your traffic is gone.

so the original content is the way to go from now, to get long term results.

Make your main blog real with real content. I hire writer to rewrite any content before it is published and also to interact and answer the comments.

    My 22cents

What about running the auto blog but occasionally add in unique articles like 1 unique post per week whereas the rest are done by autoblog but limitted to like 2 post a day? Will that help in any way?

I never had success with full automated blogs.
I started having good results only when I manually revised every post, making some changes (titles, tags, etc...) and adding images, videos.
Every post should be different (even if you use duplicated content).

wouldnt you still need to do all your own SEO and other traffic-driving tasks but just allow the auto blog to add content?? i think that makes more sense than just setting the blog up to post and then moving on to the next one

I have both auto and manually updated blogs. Both work, though the manually updated ones are more successful (this may also be because they get the bulk of my attention too).

A strategy that has worked for me on one or two blogs is setting up the automated portion of the blog to happen on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, but to manually put a unique post up on Monday.
