Lead Magnets for 2018?

Hey everyone,

Through deep research online i have found that free eBooks are not the most effective way to create a lead magnet because nobody wants to "read pages of an ebook because it sounds like work". I was wondering although this may or may not be true what would be some good examples of lead magnets for 2018. Particularly for email marketing

Thanks

Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone had any bright ideas for lead magnets in the health and fitness industry. Anything will do, Im really just trying to split test a lot and I am running out of ideas...

Thank you

I'm sure you could put together an instructive video pertaining to your particular sector of the health industry or outsource. You could start with dyslexia or problems with ADD. On the other hand, many people are still very successful with ebooks. People who are too lazy to read are probably not your ideal customers in any case.
Finding a good lead magnet and/or promoting it can be time consuming and expensive. Don't give up.

You'll notice that two of your threads asking essentially the same question were merged here.

I'm not sure how deep your research really was, because saying that nobody wants to read pages of an ebook because it sounds like work sounds like the pronouncements of someone trying to sell an alternative.

If your ebook is written well and targeted properly, it isn't work to read. If your lead magnet is lousy and off-target, it doesn't matter what form it takes. You might fool some people into requesting it, but you'll be disappointed in their further (usually non-) responses.

"The health and fitness industry" is such a large marketplace that making specific suggestions is impossible.

That said, a great lead magnet does two things. It delivers a small, immediate win for the prospect. For example, if your prospects suffer from leg cramps, a short video showing a way to quickly stretch them out might do well. Or a list of foods that might ease or eliminate the cramps. And it leads them to trust that you can deliver on bigger promises. It engages them and makes them eager to hear more from you.

Before you decide on a form for your lead magnet, consider what you want people to do after they consume it. For high ticket items, like fitness equipment or many medical devices, a webinar might make a good lead magnet. For a cell phone, a short report like "5 Hidden Features of the Model XYZ That Will Make Your Life Easier" could work.

Bottom line, start by thinking about what your prospects want to accomplish. Then think about how your product delivers that. Finally, consider how you can give them a taste of that accomplishment, and what format will do that as quickly as possible.

Saying nobody wants to read ebooks, especially after you've said you've done "deep research" online, suggests to me that you are ignoring ample evidence that ebooks are still popular.

Why don't you head on over to Amazon's Kindle offerings, have a look around, then re-evaluate your "nobody reads ebooks" declaration.

It is very strenuous indeed. I've sprained my brain more than once. Damn ebooks!

At what temperature do ebooks burn?

The first thing you need to do is figure out what compliments your end goal.

What are you selling? Clothes, memberships, equipment?

Without that information odds are you'll get a bunch of guessing and ideas your traffic won't wont or need.

Anything your audience wants, deliver it to them. The format doesn't matter as much as you think. Only because human beings would not turn down free solutions based on formatting. I care not if someone offers an eBook or video or short report; solution counts, and I fret not over the package.

There are a couple of things that have given ebooks a bad name.

First, there's length, and there are two sides to the coin. Calling a three page PDF a "book" is a joke, and padding that same three pages of real content to sixty pages is an insult to peoples' intelligence.

Second, and I mean no disrespect to honest PLR sellers, is PLR ebooks. Especially free ones. Too many people want a free ebook to give away as a lead magnet without considering anything beyond the price. Then they fail to edit the book at all, and people in the market (especially the IM/MMO market) end up on multiple lists with a drive clogged with multiple copies of the same PLR ebook.

If the quality isn't there, it really doesn't matter whether I've wasted an hour on a bad ebook or watching a bad video. That wasted hour will cost you any chance of getting my attention further down the road.
