Squidoo Obstacle & Possible Solution...

Was working on a Squidoo lens this morning and was sure I had everything just right. I had done saves several times but had not published it. Then, to my abject horror, when I hit PUBLISH, I got a message back saying my lens had hit their spambait filters as likely being a spam lens. E-e-e-e-y-o-u-c-h!!!

I had read the TOS and Squid Don'ts many times and my lens was nowhere close to being on a "bad" topic. I played around and played around looking word words or phrases that might look bad. And at the time I had only one affiliate link, so that wasn't the problem either.

I tried deleting words I thought might be the problem but to no avail.

Finally I noticed I had used the Words "Clickbank" and "Pay Dot Com" in one part of my lens. Hmmm... On a lark, I deleted those terms and hit publish again. Yikes--it went through without a snap. Now maybe this was a quirk as I have used "Clickbank" in other lenses, I can't be sure. But after a couple hours of frustration that did the trick.

I do know that pages related to Clickbank products are not blacklisted on Squidoo, but they aren't on their white list either. They say they are alright as of now, but they do watch affiliate lenses such as this.

I also know that one thing you cannot promote on Squidoo are specific affiliate programs such as CB and PDC. I'll never know exactly what tripped their spambait trigger, but I do know that once I took those two terms out everything worked as it should. Whew!

Just thought I would pass that along to any others who might have had a similar problem. Hope it helps. --Mike
