Is Dan Lok the new Tai Lopez?

I remember a while back, Tai Lopez was everywhere - Facebook, Youtube, etc. It seems like no matter what I was doing, I was always seeing video ads with him.

Now, I'm starting to see Dan Lok in video's everywhere. Is anyone else seeing this?

The thing with some of these cats is they focus 100% of their pitch on riches and little on how to acquire the riches. This is the main thing that doesn't feel good to me. I appreciate their success but not my style. I also think it's cool that using all free marketing methods - with minimum promotion - me and a buddy have well over half a million views and listens between a podcast and YouTube channel for like 10 episodes/videos, covering online success chats. 600,000, currently.

We spent 0 bucks, unlike the fortune I betcha these cats spent. People are not buying the get rich quick quite as much these days and are trusting the meat and potatoes advice me and my buddy share. Honesty and genuine folks will dominate IM across the board down the road. Just you wait and see.

It's obvious these "gurus" are poor teachers, look how quickly their acolytes destroyed the Warrior forum.

If anyone behind this forum had a clue about marketing it would still be a thriving, profitable community instead of a ghost town.

That's been the overall culture of the Main Discussion Forum for years.

      It's basically:

Anyone who makes decent money is a goo-roo ... and all goo-roos are to be hated, mocked, and dis-trusted.

So many Warriors over the years spoke up about this.

Some of the most trusted and helpful Warriors left because anytime they posted, they were treated like a goo-roo who was to be hated, mocked, and dis-trusted.

The list is long and legendary.

The reason for that is, that there is a perception, rightly or wrongly, that a lot of the so called "goo-roos" got rich not by practising the very methods they were teaching but by telling others how to get to rich using these methods. Remember during the gold rush the ones that got rich were the ones that sold the shovels.

The IM equivalent of "shovels" are autoresponders, hosting, etc.

These guys would have been selling fake "claims." Which along with stolen claims also made a lot of gold-rushers rich.

Also, the top link in your sig. is broken.

Really? You may want to research how much gold was extracted from the region during the Gold Rush. Your observation is beyond flawed. Cute saying, but not rooted in fact.

    Hi everyone here,

I like to watch Dan Lok videos it's awesome.
But I wonder where all the guys who are in the online consulting business - get the stuff /ressources to create their service products?

Does they learn all the management and marketing stuff first?
I be sure they not learn Udemy courses....

Which ressources they use to get all that stuff?

Then this so called recurring monthly billing online consulting model- I mean when in a month is nothing to do, your client pay you monthly charge?

I research 4 days on the web but not found any ressources, only Udemy courses, expensive mentorship programs and so on.

Do you know any good ressources to learn that online consulting skills stuff?

The better ones are practitioners...they test and work on things and then share what works and what doesn't. So yes, you can get some of that information from studying courses or watching what others do, but eventually you need to take action if you want to teach like a practitioner.

In other cases, Ex Tai Lopez...a good deal of his teachings have come from studying others (he talks constantly about his mentor Joel Salatin for example, he then talks about reading a book a day...pulling masses of information into a summary of useful tips/techniques and strategies). I'm not as big a fan of these type of teachers...I like practitioner-type teaching, but to each his own.

By the way...the one thing that all of these guys on social do (from Tai to Gary Vaynerchuck, Frank Kern (of late) and Grant Cardone to Sam and Dan) is they know how to capture attention, tell stories and brand themselves around an area of demand...in that sense they have mastered the basics of marketing.

Study their material closely (not what they say, but what they do) and watch the journey their campaigns take you on, how they progress their message, how they tell stories, how they get you to listen and how they communicate their value proposition. Even if you don't like their personality or specific product/approach...you can still learn from how they go about targeting and closing business using social.

Robert Kiyosaki is successful too. It doesn't mean he isn't a fake. (He is, by the way.)

      Lots of fakes become successful.

Calling out a fake for being fake doesn't make someone a hater if there's good reason behind it.

And when gaining attention becomes the proof of success in and of itself, welp...

The most cursory Google search will tell you everything you need to know about Robert Kiyosaki and his Rich Dad company.

But even if people don't want to look him up, the fact that he got rich selling a "how to get rich" book through AmWay is all you need to know. He's the poster child for "Fake It 'Til You Make It".

But the Google search will provide WAY more than that. From lawsuits, to bankruptcies, to scam seminars, to his inability to keep his story straight on whether or not "Rich Dad" was real, to potentially illegal advice, to his apparent lack of understanding of the terms "asset" and "liability", and on and on and on.

The guy is a joke - but people will buy anything if it sounds good.

I see that my response to this post, where I happily gave my name, was removed. I'd just like to point that out. (Hint for anyone curious: I sign off many of my posts as Ryan)

And I'm not sure why the word credibility is in quotation marks unless that's not what it was actually meant to mean.

The point remains that Robert Kiyosaki is an easily verifiable fake, including the fact that he got rich off selling "get rich" books about real estate (through Amway to start, at that), not on actual real estate. (Made your fortune teaching people how to make a fortune = fake)

That's how it works these days, you don't necessarily need talent, common sense or real smarts anymore. The only skill you do need is the ability to get attention.

Not a bad attribute to cultivate given that the whole internet is screaming look-at-me as you stroll by.....

He has got himself a nice niche. Kung Fu + Internet Marketing. His recent $49 telephone millionaire was a good tripwire. Well-done marketing. If he hadn't uttered that many "f" words, I would fully endorse him. Hey, even his book FU money is fully loaded.

At the end of the day, no one cares one's language, all they care is about the zeros in someone's bank account to see whether they are worth listening to.

I did comment on two of his recent videos. He has a good point about making sales. Had to give it to him. Nicely done...

One of his latest videos is a tour of his 15 million dollar penthouse. A little over the top.

I first saw him months back while looking for copywriting tips on YouTube.

I found him a little annoying at first. But I do find his story interesting. The classic "underdog" transformation story.

Vince Delmonte just did a good series of interviews with him. I follow Vince because I am into fitness also.

Lately, Vince has been shifting to topics relating more about entrepreneurship.

So either way I would have run into Dan eventually.

Could it be that his promotion by the Warrior Forum is ringing loudly in your ears because of the recent "push" of Mr. Lok into the forefront of the WF's money making emphasis? With the purchase of Allen's Warrior Forum, FreeLancer bought an audience of folks interested in making money. IMO, you're going to see more and more monetizing by WF (with the new direction in the WSO section as an example).

This is not a complaint or criticism of the WF's new direction. They (FL) bought the forum and can do with it what they want. I'm just suggesting your going to see more and more promotion of individual marketers, courses, and products by the WF to its forum members.

I remember years ago, names like Gary Halbert, Jay Abraham, Dan Kennedy, Corey Rudl, Eben Pagan, Howie Schwartz, Jim Daniels, Frank Kern, John Reese, Rich Schefren, Shawn Casey, Terry Dean, and even "The Rich Jerk" each had their moments in the limelight. Fame and fortune come and go.

The very best to all WF members,

Dan Lok is now pitching his book as basically a large ad for his coaching costing upwards in the thousands of $$$. He is giving it away on Facebook, provided that you opt in to his mailing list. ONce there you are bombarded with emails for his several thousand dollar coaching program.

    Brilliant strategy.

The point is though tht Mr. Lok has already made it in the Karate business. Unlike Tai Lopez he is not faking it.

There are so many of these guys... Anik Singal and Fred Lam come to mind since I for some reason have been bombarded with their emails recently. Ignore the hype and watch how they work. Both are focused on building funnels either through "the next webex/video starts in an hour" or "download our free book". It starts with free, bumps up to reasonable and then beyond. It is valuable to review the funnels they create and see how yours can be better. As for Dan Lok - yup he seems to be all over!

Thanks for recognizing my point. It isn't the personality "du jour" but rather the marketing strategy that these folks are leveraging. Do it yourself at some level.

It reminds me of the folks who sell books and courses on real estate. The marketing barks "how I made a million in real estate!". What they don't tell you is that they made their millions selling books and courses and not buy dealing in real estate.
