Ad revenue is up or down?

Hi,

I'm new here, I just wanted to get an idea of how those who run ads on their websites are performing. With increasing ad blocking and Google's Funding choice's is ad revenue set to increase or will it dwindle?

Cheers

This question is too general, 2 website owner working in different niches can give you very different numbers.

However, one thing which I believe that may help you no matter what is your niche, is using a plugin (if you use WordPress) or a script (if you run a traditional website) which can detect AdBlock. You can show a friendly message to your visitors to ask them to turn it off, explaining that the income from the ads makes possible to offer them the content for free. Alternatively, you can restrict them access to your content until they turn it off. So the AdBlock users will not have negative impact on your earnings.

I've been reading a lot about ads in general in recently. I know they help maintain income for websites (obviously) but with the creation of the coalition for better ads, what Facebook did with user data, increasing usage of ad-blocking (specifically in groups of higher education) I'm wondering if there is any other way to monetize a blog, a more user-friendly way. As for your comments about my question, I agree, it is too general but it was just to test the water.
