Hello Warrior,

I just joined this forum and want to ask a simple question. I launched free version of my SEO plugin and promoting on Reddit, FB and Quora. I thought these sites has highly active users and I can easily get 1st 100 downloads.

Its been 7 days and only got 5 downloads. Please advice me what should I do. Plugin is only useful for SEO freelancers and companies. I am not promoting my product but want to know where is the problems.

Thanks

Why don't you try ranking for relevant keywords?

Buy some ads. I'd be buying banner ads on SEO related forums and websites.

TARGETTING is your problem... your target audience may or may not be reading Reddit, FB, and Quora... but honestly would you follow a link for a free plugin from there? I wouldn't.

You need to figure out where these types of potential prospects hang out, and more importantly a place that will be a bit more trusting when providing a link.. and then get it there. Why not submit the plugin in the WF marketplace?

savidge4 I selected Reddit and Quora platform because not only they are very active but I can also select who can see the post.
Categories based posts can bring real leads. But i didnt go well as I thought. If you can guide me how to use these platform correctly, it will be very helpful.

      I will try WF marketplace
      Thanks.

I want to share copy of my plugin but I think that could violate the policies. I can ping you privately if you want.

      Thanks

    Rohit N,

Without seeing your offer or knowing any details about the plug-in, I would suggest the problem could be any or all of these potential trouble spots:
    • Lack of credibility and name recognition for you and the plug-in
    • Improperly matching the venue of the offer with the target market
    • An offer that is dull, boring, or too hum-drum
    • Poor sales copy in the offer
    • The product itself is nothing to get excited about - many other options are available
    • No social proof of performance (like testimonials)
    • No or weak call to action
    • Too much risk for the prospect (is the prospect going to be spammed, can the plug-in do damage, does it invade privacy, etc)
    • No compelling benefits clearly defined
Those are just a few things I can think of off the top of my head - there could certainly be others.

The way to isolate the problem(s) is to test and re-test, changing only one variable at a time. I would use paid traffic so you can control keywords and speed up the testing process (over organic traffic).

    The best to you,

    Steve

      1) Lack of credibility and name recognition for you and the plug-in
My business is officially registered but I didn't gave any such hint on my site so may be this could be the problem.
      2) Improperly matching the venue of the offer with the target market
I use Reddit and Quora especially because I can post on the basis of categories. So my venue is good enough to get some free downloads. Don't where is the problem.
      3) An offer that is dull, boring, or too hum-drum
I wrote everything up-to the point. No extra fake points and any testimonial. But yes it could be dull. I will work on it.
      4) Poor sales copy in the offer
Free and paid version has same copy. It just free one has some less features than paid one.
      5) The product itself is nothing to get excited about - many other options are available
Yes, there are many other options available but on my platform there are hardly 3-4. Its a WordPress.
      6) No social proof of performance (like testimonials)
Right i didn't have testimonials. But I have social media pages.
      7) No or weak call to action
      Sorry i didn't get you.
Too much risk for the prospect (is the prospect going to be spammed, can the plug-in do damage, does it invade privacy, etc)
      8) No compelling benefits clearly defined
I can show you the description if you want.

I want to share the product link here but I think this could violate the policies that's why I didn't mentioned the product name.

      Thanks for your response.

Here's a helpful tip Rohit; comment genuinely on top blogs in your niche and promote these bloggers.

After a few months of doing this, some of these bloggers become your friend. Offer them the free plugin giveaway to review. They publish review posts on their blog, and you get a bunch more downloads.

Relationships + patience = 2 of the most critical factors in online success.

If you can be patient enough to do things the right way, over a period of months, you will use the secret followed by all successful bloggers....worry less about week to week results and focus more on doing things the right way, to create month to month and year to year results. That's where big time success is for you.

The same canned answer does not fit all instances and problems. Go read the OP again.. Their product is not targetted towards the average reader / writer of a blog. It is directed to those that professionally provide SEO services.

Commenting over at Searchengineland or Moz or AHrefs is not going to get the results you are suggesting.. chances are better than good they will be seen as a spammer before an equal. Thats just how the micro world that is SEO works.

The strategy that will work best in this scenario is to get the offer in front of those that will use it... a $5.00 link in his signature is probably the best advice so far.... So good in fact if @Rohit N cant afford the $5.00, all he has to do is PM me his paypal account address and I will send him the $5.00.

You answered your own question "I am not promoting my product but want to know where is the problems."

A lot of seasoned marketers will read your post and will suggest that you had a plan, but not a very good plan to put it nicely. The same seasoned marketers will tell you that before you create a product to find out if the products will sell via marketing. In other words, you may have the best SEO plug-in on the market, but if you cannot sell it via marketing then figure out another way.

Tip: Not knowing if the plug-in is good or bad you might want to consider contacting theme owners and possibly integrating the plug-in into the theme. The concept is almost all theme developers have a free version of a paid theme, so you write two versions of your plug-in wherein a free version is integrated into the free theme and.. a paid version is included in the theme's paid version.

    Hi

What does your plug-in do that other similar seo plug-ins do NOT do?

You say that "Plugin is only useful for SEO freelancers and companies" but is that really true?

I can't really offer any substantive advice without knowing the benefits of using your product. Believe it or not, you have to sell a free download just as persuasively as you would a $2000 dollar bootcamp.

Who would benefit most from using your product? Bloggers, SEO Professionals? Beginners? E-commerce site owners? DO It Yourself types?

I can't answer any of these questions, hopefully you can.

Once you narrowly define your target market, you can then explore where they hang out.

example" if your product most benefits newbie bloggers then you can find forums and facebook groups that cater to people who have questions about those subjects.

If it's more tailored to seo professionals then perhaps linkedin would be a better choice.

and as mentioned a Sig file for use here on the Wforum would be a good idea, there is a whole sub forum devoted to the subject of seo here. Go in and start answering questions.

99% of this stuff is about getting in front of people that already want/need what you have to offer.

you can describe your plugin without giving links and then warriors will be able to help you better

FYI there are lots of seo and webmaster forums where you can give away free downloads so you just have to google..
