Your niche is a fiend of video editing, is that what you mean? Because I was thinking: you can keep your enemies closer. In this essence, you can use video editing to your advantage. But if you think it would eat up your time and energy, you can ask someone else to do it for you instead.

You have a passion for online marketing but you are asking a bunch of strangers what is the best way to make money in short-time and u will base ur decision on the advice of these strangers.... Wow.

Ok, here is what I think u should do:

U already have a friend who is into videos and he can help u get started easily. Most people don't know where to start so this is a good positive sign that u have someone who can help u get started and can provide his tools/knowledge.

U can try other things later on, at present start with ur friend

Great advice. I agree. If you know someone who is good at something you want to do, and they're willing to teach you the ropes, I would start there. Finding a mentor is critical, in whatever field you end up choosing. It can shorten the learning curve significantly.

Develop specialized knowledge in an area you are:

    1. Passionate about
    2. Pays well
    3. Is in demand

That is what I would do.

Of all the skills I've developed in the online world, the most valuable one for me has been traffic generation.

Hey, Reality Check: You don't know how to DO anything yet.

    Will you learn? Of course.

But right now you have nothing. Not even an idea. Just a couple maybes and you're trying to get strangers to decide for you what you should commit to. No. Not going to help you with that.

What I will help you with is the path to winning.

    1. Get clarity on the idea you want to create.

You need to see more possibilities. Start making a list. Write down things you could do. Give yourself a deadline, a few days, to research and make your list.

    2. Narrow the list down to just a few choices.

There are no magic bullets. You pick something you like, that people are demonstrating they're willing to pay for.

I share this simple graphic I made years ago because people keep thinking they can be the surgeon of the left ear of yellow canaries because they "love it." No, people have to be willing to pay for the thing, too.

    3. Pick the one that excites you the most while at the same time offering the chance to make you the most money.

Decide by using a criteria of evaluation. Those are a list of things you value. So you write the short list of possibilities across the top and the criteria down the side. In each cell you can write a number, say 0 to 5. The winner is the one with the biggest total.

    Eg.

    Criteria...............Affiliate Marketing / Video Editing Service / Article Writing Service Enjoyment..........................2.............. .............3.................................... .....1
    Income...............................4............ ................3................................. .......2
    Easiness............................0............. ...............3.................................. ......4
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    TOTALS.............................6.............. ...............9.................................. ......7

The higher the score the better the idea. In this case, affiliate marketing would be very difficult to learn and get good at, because you have to learn offer selection, traffic, copywriting, graphic design/layout, and a lot more. But the potential income is higher than the other choices. Video editing requires you to buy an editor and learn how to use it, so much easier. These are just example numbers to show you how to decide: your numbers will be different.

    4. Commit to the decision, and create the business.

Write down the steps to creating the business. If it's the video editing service, you must:

    1. Select a video editor and purchase it
    2. Learn how to use the editor
    3. Find people who need editing services
    4. Figure out how you're going to price your service
    5. Learn how to start conversations and qualify prospects
    6. Make sales
    7. Fulfill projects (collect info, transfer files, do the editing work, etc.)

This is not a complete list but I am showing you the kinds of things you will have to do.

Do not "play at business." I have had customers of my programs say things like they wished they had taken their ideas more seriously, but instead screwed around for two years. That is not uncommon. Get real about your business NOW so that you can have something solid in 6 months.

How can you have a passion for online marketing when you've never done it and don't understand what it involves day to day?

No, my guess is, you've bought into the hype of easy and quick online riches.

Since you say you've "wasted 100% of my time while growing up" . . . let me suggest you get a job locally and learn how to work and care for yourself and save some money before you decide upon a career. Asking other random people what career you should adopt is, IMO, a sign you're not ready to make that decision just yet.

I'm not saying you shouldn't look at IM as one possible career path. But to say you have a passion for the field when you know nothing about it and have no experience with it on a daily basis is just plain foolishness.

Spend some time here at the forum and get exposed to what IM is all about before you commit to anything.

Do you have money to invest into this?

I don't know enough about video editing to comment on this portion (is there good money in this area?)

I like online marketing. I find the potential endless. But it's a long term thing, not really short term imo.

    Hi U,

    A few things buddy....

I wasted 100% of my time while growing up...

Regret is a damaging emotion U, rooted in fear. Let the past go. Repeat to self: all in my life happened at the perfect time, in the perfect place. Letting the past go helps you clear your mind, aiding you in your online marketing journey.

yield more money may be in a short-time!

This is fear and desperation. I smell it because I reaked of it too for years LOL! No worries though; give 99% of your energy to following your online marketing passion, learning the niche, practicing your skills, making friends and creating helpful content, and give 1% of your energy to outcomes aka making money.

Imagine if you said: "I love medicine and helping folks. Does anybody know a quick way to make money for a doctor?!" Impossible. Just as impossible to make money as an online marketer, because online marketers need to spend years developing skills that actually yield money. Just like a doctor.

Passion, not profits, and you will be A-OK.

Calm down. You don't have to rush, or prove your life to anyone. Sit on this forum, read books, and take your time.

If your friend is making money with video editing, then great. Tell him to teach you, but you need to learn the craft of online marketing, and not hastily look for a way to make money immediately - which is what it sounds like you're looking to do.

Pursue video editing. But once you're doing it, you're going to need to market your services, am I right? How else do you plan to get customers? (Unless you are learning it to get a day-job to do this for some employer.) So learn/utilize internet marketing to promote your video editing business, and develop a back-end to alert them of other products and services that might benefit them.

I don't think you could ever go wrong learning to edit videos. Video on the net is huge and really becoming more and more important with internet marketing as well.

It is probably a more realistic path to making money initially, as you will be being paid for your service. Where with internet marketing there are many variables and most lose money.

Not that you shouldn't pursue internet marketing, as it can be extremely profitable.

    Anyway, thats my 2 cents.
