Where do I start? I only have about 30 days

So I've got myself in a predicament and need to make about $5k in the next 30 days. I'm going to be selling things around the house and working my regular projects but would like to have a net just in case. I'm willing to put the work in... where do I start?

If you are in that much in debt, consider borrowing from a friend or family member. Or see if you qualify for a personal loan. Sounds like you are over your head in debt. There are ways to make that money but if you are in the wrong state of mind. It is going to be very diffucult to come up with that amount in that short of time. Sure some will suggest something here, but most have never made 5k a week online or took a long time to get there. Good Luck!

In addition to selling unwanted items, you could also do the following things:

      1. Work extra hours at work
      2. Get a second job, part-time
      3. Drive for Uber or Lyft
      4. Ask people you know if they have projects they would pay you to do
      5. Ask a friend for a loan
      6. Do work on Upwork or Fiverr

That is a start. Good luck. This too shall pass!

So I've got myself in a predicament and need to make about $5k in the next 30 days.....

    1: Work a job.

    2: Uber

3: It is only money; unless you're into the mob or loan shark, stretch out payment terms.

4: Ask for a loan from a trusted family member.

    All the best.

Apart from pestering friends and family, l would suggest going for at least one or more credit cards, probably easier to get than a loan.

Walk through your home, and make a pile of all your unwanted or unneeded items. Liquidate them on eBay, Craigslist or a yard sale. That should be a great starting point.

CJ, no one can answer this question for you because we don't know your background, skills, and more.

The kind of question you asked comes along often. There's no magic "put the quarters in the machine and get the tickets" system to making money online--if there was, the forum would have very few articles. There'd be a How To and we'd be done.

It's closed now but there was an ongoing thread for a long time about What To Do If You're Desperate.

You might get some ideas from there. But you will not find any "Do A, B, C, D, ca-ching!" instructions because it does not work that way.

Any business, whether you're mowing lawns as suggested above or selling luxury yachts online, needs two things: Traffic and Conversion.

You need people with lawns (that's the Traffic)

and you talk to them and some will agree to pay you to mow their lawn (that's the Conversion.)

You need people who have a lot disposable income (that's the Traffic)

and you get them to come online and look around at photos of yachts on your website, and some of them buy a yacht (that's the Conversion.)

Now you can see from these two examples what level of game you can decide to play.

Again, this goes back to what's going on in your own head: how do you see yourself? What is "a lot of money" to you?" How persistent are you? What skills do you have to reach the right people, and encourage some of them to buy?

For me, I'd be shooting at making ONE $5K sale. (Actually a $8K or $10K sale because the $5K isn't going to be enough--you'll need more by the time you get there, but that's another post topic entirely.)

    But that's me.

You might have to make 10 X $500 sales.

You see there are multiple ways to accomplish the end result.

I definitely want to steer you away from making 100 X $50 sales. Why? The amount of Traffic you would have to find and send to a Conversion page would be so high I doubt you could do it in the limited time. Not without paid traffic sources. This is a big mistake newbies make, and it's because their money tolerance is so low. They can't imagine making a $1000 sale. They think $50 is "a lot of money."

If you want to change things in your life, you have to start with changing yourself. The version of you who has money and is making these sales is a slightly different version from who you are at this moment. Otherwise, you'd have the money already.

Making money or "sales" is conceptual, not technical.

Yes, the thread is closed to new posts; however, anyone can still read the 25 archived pages of suggestions given there - many of which are still doable. Just be aware that most of the posts are not going to get you $5K in 30 days time unless you are very skilled or get very lucky. Most of the members here have never made $5K in their entire IM career!

I think your most realistic approach would be to transfer the debt to a CC or loan that can be paid off over several years time. That is doable in 30 days.

      Good luck to you,

  • I'm afraid if you don't have any skills that will make you the money then you'll have to trade your time for money which isn't really ideal for this situation. Provide services for people online and offline, try re-selling some things. If you go on craigslist and go to the free section and resell stuff you can make some quick income, won't make you 5k but if you combine it with a few things and really go for it who knows how much you can make. Sounds like you might have to get an extension on those 30 days though, be interesting to hear how you get on.

You need a balaclava, a gun and a bank

Alternatively, sell some of your stuff, friends and families stuff on eBay.

    Hi,

If you know anything about real estate and you can find a wholesale deal, you could tie it up and flip the contract to another wholesaler or a rehabber. Chances are slim though, if you don't have any experience at it.

Make $5k from scratch in 30 days?

I don't think this is realistic expectations from this industry. If you have enough budget and time you could maybe hit thsg with some luck but it's a long shot.

It's not going to happen. While it doesn't hurt to educate yourself in IM to eventually see success, find other ways in the meantime. And Steve is right, even the "What To Do When You're Desperate" post won't help you make that kind of money. I don't even think you could drive enough for Uber or Lyft to pay you that much - but I could be wrong. Even so that would be a looooot of driving.

Borrowing it seems most realistic at this point. In the meantime, hone your skills at IM or something else to get a thriving business going, and you can eventually pay them (the bank, your relatives, your friend, whoever loans you that kind of money) back.

You will have to sell something very valuable in terms of worth. I dont recommend trying to start a business online and try to make $5k in 30 days. You dont have any online business experience, so it will be unrealistic to make this kind of money within just 30 days.

Got a car to sell? Can you get a loan from the bank or credit union? The last thing i can say is just, DONT get the money from a loan shark. Even in 30 days i doubt you can earn that money from the job that you're at - i'm assuming this because you didnt mention anything about a job, or how much you make per month.

Good luck though and at the end of the day i hope things work out for you.

The real question is - in the 10 weeks since starting the thread...were you able to earn the money you needed? Or close to it? If so, what worked?
