Is there anywhere to go that has list of all Clickbank product names?

I know Clickbank has an xml feed and there are sites/services that list all of the CB products, BUT they're listed by "title" and "description". The "title", in most cases, isn't the actual name of the product.

Do you guys know of a site that lists the actual NAMES of the CB products?

Thanks!

Brad

    Hi Brad

The only places a product name appears would be
    - on a sales page
    - on the order link description field (where it's an option)

The ClickBank system has no access to sales pages **
(and does not feed back order link descriptions)
so it's not possible to provide such a list.

** Edit: Not quite true. The XML feed has the landing page
which is often but not always the main sales page

I had a feeling that may be where you were headed, Brad.

Have a script built to visit CB product order links and scrape product names from the description field? I'd buy it. CB's search function is HORRID.

The problems in increasing order of difficulty are

          1. Not every order link uses the description field

          2. Order links are often cloaked

          3. How would you be certain of finding an order link on a sales page
          (or the ensuing pages)

          4. How do you find ClickBank sales pages in the first place

          Harvey

EDIT: OK, ignore (4). You find it from the Marketplace feed

            .

Not a project I'd want to tackle. But, if there's a way to do it and there's a market for it, I wouldn't bet against Brad getting it done.

To post a project to say "I need someone to go to the Clickbank marketplace and go through the first x pages of each category. Visit each site. Write down the product name into an Excel spreadsheet and then give it to me." :-)

I listed the project the day I posted this thread and had the .csv file within 24 hours.

          OK.

I wanted to be sure you were aware that product names
were not always available (where vendors had not submitted them)
          - but maybe this was sufficient for your requirement.

          That's why I asked.

Do you have a figure for the percentage of names
that could not be found ?

Hey Harvey, sorry, I don't. I just got a .csv file as the deliverable. I'd guess that atleast 50% didn't have a product name, but your guess is as good as mine.

I have a script that visits each sales page to get the price. Not every price is in the dollars, but about 98% of the prices I have are. Adding the description shouldn't be too difficult. I'll have a go later tonight... ;-)

Best thing to do is to go to the product page and look for the AFFILIATES link.

wow... I just did a quick search through my CBdb script and found a hoplink that went straight to the CB order page; no sales page at all.

didn't even know vendors could do that

OK, I've got my script to scrape the name into my database, provided the name is there in the description field. As Harvey says, it's an option. I've got some work to do to get my website updated with the new field.

IMO, the biggest problem with the CB listings is that roughly half target affiliates and half target consumers. So you've got a ton of Description fields that read, "Now earn 70% commissions!" The product name is meaningless, and you cannot figure out what these products are without going to their sales page.

It would be really nice if they'd have a "Product Description" field and an "Affiliate Notice" field, but since they don't, it seems most folks use the Descr field to say meaningless stuff to affiliates. (The Commission field shows the commission rate. Why waste the Product Description field to repeat that, and force affiliates to visit the site to figure out if they're even interested in the product)

A while back, I went through the first 150 products in the XML list just to see what kind of an effort it would be to gather additional descriptive data. About a dozen of the sites tried shoving spyware and trojans into my system. I encountered pop-ups, pop-unders, and one that was even rigged to prevent me from closing the page!

Apparently CB doesn't do much of a job of policing sellers once they approve their sales pages.

There's also the problem that you can have up to 30 products per account (maybe not the correct terms) but only the first product shows up in the Marketplace and in the bulk data feed. So there may well be 2-3x (if not more) additional products being sold from CB than you can find from public data.
