How to Make Money Online without Paying Anything

This is one of the most common question and search.

First of all: it's a cognitive bias.
The term "pay" belong to something you give for an item, like going in a shop.

No, it's an investement. Nothing "to pay".

However, in a first instance most of the people do not have money to spend on advertising, on paid traffic, on tools.

So here's a practical guide, better a list of tips.

Firstly: identify a niche. better not jump in a reasearch of the markets if you don't know how to do. Go to clickbank, look for weight loss and choose weight loss for office women, or white collar etc.

Then choose which prducts to promote that suits the need: try Mike Geary or someone with high gravity.

Choose an autoresponder, like Getresponse or Sendlane, which gives a trial period and allow to build squeeze pages inside the autoresponder itself.

Go to the Affiliate section of the vendor and there you can find some giveaways to give to your potential leads in exchange of their mails.
Also you can find list of email swipes to put in your autoresponder to promote the product and give value.

As an example when i started affiliate marketing i used to promote weight loss programs made by mike geary. Cause he provides a very well materials, etc.

Then you need to deliver TRAFFIC to your opt in page.

If you're just a beginner i do not suggest you to dive in the Seo stuff. Cause it takes months.
And raking an opt in page is quite impossibile.

You can use 2 different methods:
Youtube Traffic & Forum Traffic.

Youtube is a the mostly misunderstood platform: the majority of the people try to earn money usind adsense and earn cents for visualization. Very poor, instable technique.
You can do far better.
Build videos regarding your niche, and put in the description the link to your opt in page. You can write a sentence like: "FREE Weight Loss program for busy people: go to www.blablabla.com"
Apply good tags, etc.

Which videos? you can record by your own, putting some of the material you find in the affiliate section in a video format, or you can take some plr for 1 buck, and record it with screencast or camstasia or by saying with your voice.

Or also you can search for "creative commons" videos and mix them and upload them.

What about Forum Traffic?
Just google your niche + forum and register there. Contribute to discussion, give value, start valuable thread and act as you want to give your knowledge free.
Put more or less the same sentence as a signature. People who will find your knowledge valuable will opt in in your opt in page.

What about the Opt in page Itself?

Less is more. The most important thing is the HEADLINE. Your headline has to be compelling, speak the audience's words, catchy and tell the "truth well said".
It does not have to sell in a scammy way, it has to hit the pain

I mean talk about the potential lead's needs, amplify it and give a solution.

After that in the mails, give that solution but in a smart way: the structure, let the products you sell to complete the puzzle.

So if you are consistent you will see a constant flow of traffic, leads, and item sold on some extent: reinvest the compounding in the solo ads. So you can reinforce your list.

You have to continue to study, go deep and learn, also shift to paid traffic asap: you need to have metrics of what you invest to make a living.

Rinse and repeat.

    Good post.

I agree, Youtube is a great source of traffic - if you're consistent with it, or lucky enough to a video that takes off.

However you're at the mercy of the algorithm and it's not smart to depend on it for 100% of your traffic.

Again with forums, there's no real control. The small trickle of free traffic is nice though.

To hit the ground running fast, you're absolutely right to bring these sources into the mix, but for longterm (dependable traffic) I think advertising is where it's at because it's just like turning a tap on.

    Boom! Traffic.

But for free traffic, I think creating valuable content produces the best longterm results, but like you point out, that takes time.

By offering a solution, and provide honest information about the product, is the best way to turn seekers into buyers.

As an affiliate, you don't sell anything to anyone. Remember, you don't own the product, you're recommending the product, and providing helpful information about the product to assist them in their decision to buy the product. Honesty goes a long way. You'll be surprise how many of those visitors end up buy from the affiliate links on your site

Quora is also a great way to drive traffic.

You have to use a two page strategy to make it work through.

The same goes with FB comments

You are SELLING even if it's affiliate or not.
Otherwise all the vendors who are mandatory in the offline world shouldn't be considered as vendors.

You are not selling a product: you are selling an idea. An emotion. A concept: somethng which in the battle for the customers' mind, win. Something which supply a need of the customers.

So you don't have to focalize on one product: you need to focalize to a solution. A Solution which can be rappresented by products made by others, or the best in the end YOU OWN PRODUCTS.

Making money online is not just as easy as one thinks. First of all one needs to have a better idea of the platform by which they want to make money.
For example people looking to earn money by online marketing sites must have a clear idea about such sites.Besides, one's approach should be completely positive, proficient and dedicated which will be helpful in fetching money and thereby attaining their ultimate goal.

    Cool post John.

One thing I'd stress; the investment versus pay thing. To be taken seriously, so you move up in circles and make more money, people invest in a domain and hosting. The investment you make now pays huge returns down the road. Just like the investment you avoid making now yields no returns down the road.

It is so incredibly difficult to make money online without investing a cent because you are handicapped, compared to us folks who buy our domain, hosting, themes, and some bells and whistles which, along with our content, help us stand out from the crowd. Most folks row upstream with their free accounts, bending over backwards to earn trust, while we self-hosted bloggers go downstream, gaining credibility fast.

    Something to think about guys.

Nothing is really free. Even if it doesn't cost you money, it cost you time, and time is much more valuable than money.

If money is tight, some of my favorite traffic strategies are:

    1. Guest posting
    2. Blog comments
    3. Forum comments
    4. Safelists
    5. YouTube videos
    6. Social Media

If you have a marketing budget, my favorite traffic strategies are:

    1. Pay per Click
    2. Solo Ads
    3. Postcard marketing

    I hope this helps.

Unless you have a hosting server in your basement you will rely on a third party for hosting.
And most of the hostings provides "unlimited bandwith" not unlimited traffic.
So you have to carefully check the amount of traffic you can send, expecially in the shared hostings.

it's ONE OF THE WAY to earn money not quickly: unless you direct sell others offers but you make less and it's not sustainable.

Anything is "easy" or "quick rich". The velocity epends on a lot of factors and you need firstly to dedicate yourself to the proccess, not depend on the online marketing for your launch pizza.

Trying to make money without at least a small budget is a very difficult challenge. Yes, it can be done with lots of work and patience, but I don't recommend that path to anyone.

Instead, I would suggest that the penniless wait a few months during which they set aside some money by whatever means they can: selling possessions they no longer use, saving a portion of money earned in a second job or a "side hustle," getting a loan from a family member that doesn't need to be paid back immediately, becoming an Uber driver, selling blood, or sacrificing something that currently costs them money (fast food, entertainment, new clothes, vacation, etc.)

The amount you save and earn needn't be much.

Here's my thinking: if you're going to start a business with the hope of a new full-time career, it should be high on your priority list of things worth sacrificing lesser pleasures for. You need a domain, hosting, an autoresponder and a few other essentials.

Going into business with both hands and a leg tied up is not the way to start. At least give yourself a fighting chance at success.

IMO, many folks that have a "pay nothing" approach to creating a business doom their efforts to failure because nothing good happens right at the outset, sales are usually dim or non-existent, and they give up in disgust because they have no success.

  • I really do not understand the whole concept behind people who have "0" capital and are trying to build an online business.

Do you build an offline business with 0 capital? If you can't at very least afford basic tools, maybe you should re-think whether you want to start a business or really get a job to get out of poverty.

It's people like this that come around forums telling that online marketing doesn't work and pointing fingers at products, courses and software.

How come they bought an ebook and didn't make them rich in 2 weeks? It must be a SCAM.

P.S. I wouldn't reply to an old thread, but for some reason this came up on top in the main section of the forum. Someone must've upvoted the thread.

I got told off by the Mods for replying to an old thread, but what the hell, it's an interesting topic.

Anyway, back in 2002 I started my software business on my kitchen table. Yes my PC was literally sitting on my kitchen table. I ended up making $100,000 and I spent hardly anything to make this. I think I paid $50 for some compiler application, but that was pretty much it.

I bought some paid WordPress Themes once but to be honest they weren't much better than the free ones you can get. Then they ended support anyway so that put me off paying for stuff online.

As to OP's post, I agree that forums are a great place to do marketing. I run a forum and get good conversions on contextual text links. I also used my friend's forum to launch a couple of my own niche sites. Mind you I am a prolific poster on there. I did like 1000 posts before I started putting links to my own sites in my .sig.

I give 2 thumbs up for Youtube, but there are alot of niches online where traditional forum advertising (signature) isn't allowed. In situations like that, see if there are opportunities to run ads on forums in your niche, or just leave it alone altogether and pursue Youtube marketing 100%.

Or to compensate for lack of forum promotion, do some guest blog posts, continual blog commenting, or simply create a video blog and syndicate your video content across in your niche all over the web.

Hello, I was once new to online marketing back in 2017 so I totally feel your pain.

    1. You want to decide on a niche and get as specific as you possibly can. It should be something you are passionate about and love to talk and share knowledge on. FYI: know your target audience. Who are they? What do they look like? Where do they live? What are their challenges, pains, struggles and desires...

    2. You want to find products that support the niche you are in. Use the product to make sure it works and is of quality and all you would look for to receive a specific desired outcome.

    3. Make sure you can become an affiliate of it

    4. Identify your platform to share information and promote the product

Free Traffic vs Paid Traffic is what you want to decide upon. If you are brand new and don't have an advertising budget; I suggest Youtube as it is a free search engine that people specifically go to, put in keywords to search and the goal is to get information about and possible buy if they feel it can help them. If you have an advertising budget then you can scale once you find something that works. But, here is the truth...you must be knowledgeable on how to create advertising campaigns or hire someone who is - that can be a learning curve, which is why I suggest Youtube.

If you use Youtube, it's all about the "keywords" I suggest getting a course on youtube keywords or hiring someone to SEO your videos as that is how you get views if done correctly. But doing YT videos on a consistent basis can yield traffic and if you have a good offer, can lead to sales.

    5. Create content - market research, as stated earlier you want to know all you can about your perfect customer then create content that serves that audience. Talk about pains,etc...then provide solutions. You can do tutorials, etc but put the content out there and attract your audience to you.

    6. Capturing leads - you always want to build an email list so you can follow up via email with your subscribers to build a relationship so they know, like and trust you and send related offers to them. Share your story or experiences that can tie into the product you are selling. To do this, you must have a funnel to attract leads. I also suggest giving away a free gift (pdg, tips, resources) that is congruent with your offer to build your list.

There are more steps but this is an overview. I highly suggest if you want to take this seriously you invest in a coach or training to teach you these skillsets. That's what online marketing is and how people are successful because they have learned a skillset. When you have that it will pay you for life. I hope this provides some clarity.
