Which aff. programs are best for a site with generic traffic

Hi

I have been doing some affiliate work in the past but a long time since I actively promoted stuff so a newbie.

I have several temp email websites ~400K monthly unique users ~35% tier1 + 2 traffic. I would like to monetize with some affiliate / CPA offers, currently monetizing with only AdSense.

Was wondering which affiliate programs would you recommend? From looking a the domains the emails come from I can say many are dating / cheating / gambling related. But can't really say traffic is targeted towards something specific.

so my question is what would convert well and pay well?

Thx

M

You might want to ask your lists what they want... and promote offers based on that info.

    Otherwise it's anyones guess.

Go to SurveyMonkey or Google Forms and create a survey for your list.

Trying to sell to non-targeted traffic is generally a losing game. People are so inclined to turn a blind eye to anything that doesn't interest them.

Personally, I would suggest you avoid the hassle and loss of the time you'll waste trying to milk a dry cow and begin a new email list at your new affiliate web site.

Choose whatever niche you desire, build the site, and focus on building traffic and gaining subscribers. After you get some traction, send some non-salesy helpful emails to your old list and invite them with an incentive to join your new site. Most won't sign up, but a few will if your offer is excellent and it will be a profitable use of a dead non-targeted list.

Cheating and gambling sounds very plausible for visitors of a website offering temporary email addresses. What are the demographics of the visitors?

If people are from different locations and the website are bringing in substantial traffic the best thing you might do is to contact an ad-network and see what the can do to tailor advertising according to your customer's interests and location. If you require assistance finding a trustworthy casino or sportsbook platform, let me know.

Probably nothing. Not even sex. Why would you want to waste time with a bunch of random people who's interests range from A-Z? Depending on what you show them, you could loss a ton of subscribers everyday based solely because what you have to offer is of NO interest to them.

Second... what's your long-term strategy to maximize the profit potential of the people on these lists?

    Hey There,

It all comes down to testing.

You can have the best converting offer per the website / vendor you are promoting it from, but if you don't specifically know the audience you have. It can turn into a real mess

You can also try to offer ads space (banner, image spots) as well as guest posts and PR posts on your site. If you have much traffic then many people want to join and advertising on your site.

    Testing, as mentioned.

If you have no idea of their interests at all, then the only way to find out what they might want is to survey them or just test out some stuff.

Weight loss, make money online, stock trading type offers might appeal to some people as they are broad enough to target at least a certain percentage.

Choosing 1 niche M, then sharing helpful content aligned with that niche, and building a list of folks interested in the 1 niche, is the way to affiliate profits buddy. Because then you pick a program and products 100% aligned with the niche. Said products attractive to readers, leading to clicks, sales.

Be a specialist versus being a generalist. If you run multiple sites pick ads or products 100% aligned with the site topic, and build separate lists 100% aligned. Specializing leads to increased sales; no subscriber/reader confusion.

I'd recommend building a mailing-list, and testing offers on there (as well as on your website).

I was interested to watch a webinar recently, by some guy who makes a LOT of money from his mailing-list . . . I was surprised to learn that as well as very cheap products, CPA and things like that, he also promotes webinars for high-end products, to the SAME LIST, and gets results from them all.

As with anything, the only real answer is testing.

I certainly recommend promoting webinars on your site (or mailing-list), as they typically convert 10 times better than sales-pages or sales-videos, as well as being better liked by the viewers, etc.

Also . . . just thinking about another big advantage in building a mailing-list . . . you can literally just ASK your list members what they want, and split them into smaller sub-lists according to their replies.

Ask them what they most want in life (such as money, relationships, happiness, success, helping others etc.), what they most want to change about their life, or what they most hate about their life! Any answers will suggest products for them, and help differentiate them into sub-lists, so you can target them better.

Another idea is generic items for sale as Free+Shipping&Handling . . . such as popular jewellery from AliExpress, which could cost $1.99 and you could charge $4.97 S&H. (Some eComm platforms can automate the ordering process for all that).

    Hope that helps

The best way is to try split testing as much as possible, try many different offers.. I'd start with Survey, Sweepstakes, etc and other "generic" types of offers..
