Village Idiot Giving Advice

Being dedicated to every aspect of your business ,to see it through completion, is important . Very few unfinished projects make any money .

Now lately I have caught myself staying on the WF too much and implementing new phases and models too little .

I can do this because my business model takes care of it's self for extended amounts of time .

Still this behavior is limiting to any business model. Sit idle long enough and you will get passed up.

I will now limit my time on forums. This means that when I make a post or reply I will try to leave as much value as possible .

Newbies, keep in mind this is the gospel according to Troy . The only thing I am an authority in is how I run my own business.

This works for me and while I consider myself a smart person.... my wife does remind me to tie my shoes on occasion :-)

Here is the basic outline for my model or maybe not as much of a model but a strategy .

My income sources are affiliate marketing , adsense, but mostly my own products .

Besides a few experiments I use in my sig file , I build a list exclusively.

All the traffic I generate is directed to a squeeze page which is the mouth of my funnel.

I mainly generate traffic through content marketing , but do use some traffic exchanges , ad exchanges , credit based safe list , credit based solo's .

I trade ad space on some of my sites for the credits to show my sites on the exchanges or pay for the credits . I think my time is too valuable to surf .

If you can make one sale a month from this traffic , that sale will pay for a boat load of credits for the whole month.

Remember that surfers are after traffic and present your squeeze page in the right way and you will make many sales a month with exchanges .

Once I have captured details , list members are sent to a an OTO. Although dependent on the niche, I usually let my OTO price remain around the $10 mark.

This starts them out in buying mode, pre-sells them on the idea that I am a marketer and will send them offers from time to time , and the biggie , it proves to me they have a method of getting money to me online .

My first email arrives with the bait, an unadvertised freebie and usually a complimentary offer .

My follow ups feature more free stuff, tips, advice, and the occasional blatant pitch . I always have a money link in my PS: file

Mailing frequency is dependent on niche. Some list get one email a week. Most get 4 emails a week . Some of my advice type niches get one a day or more .

All buyers are funneled to a niche appropriate list .

This list is presented a higher quality advice . If they have spent money with you they deserve a bigger piece of you . They are presented higher end products . Everything in this list guides the member to a continuity type site . Some are my own , some I am an affiliate for .

Every new project follows this order .

  • Keyword
I know some pick a product and then find the keyword . I find a lot of value in finding the profitable keyword and then finding or making a product to match.
  • Product selection or creation
Since the product was picked for the keyword , it is very relevant.

  • Bait creation
The bait directly relates to the keyword .
  • Autoreponder and as many follow up emails as possible . I try to add additional follow ups after the initial amount weekly
  • OTO selection or creation
  • Squeeze page
I keep these simple . Form in the top fold . Filled with keyword rich content .
  • Content marketing
  • Ad placement on exchanges ,solos
Once this traffic is captured it is really up to you where and what type of offer you send the list members to.

Affiliate offers, your own products , adsense, membership sites . I think it would work for CPA but you better talk to those on here who really know .

One little piece of advice . More of an opinion than a tested fact .

Many on here will say make sure you are passionate about what you sale . I say sale what people are passionate about .

You may be passionate about belly button lint... unless you can find it's hungry crowd (eewwww) I don't see a lot of money from it .

I sell a lot of stuff I have no interest in whatsoever . The crowd I am selling to is the one with the passion.

That's great information, I hope more people find it especially when it comes to getting down to the details and specifics of how to promote your business especially with the continuity aspect.

Absolutely agree about the marketing to a hungry niche, I've made the newbie mistakes of doing things in reverse, picking a product I thought would sell then fighting an uphill battle trying to convince everyone to buy it.

Once I discovered what people wanted and then gave it to them, it was so much easier and I actually started to make money.

    Great post.

    Brilliant post!

Can you share a basic method for finding a profitable keyword and positioning yourself in front of the 'hungry' niche?

I spent most of today doing the exact reverse (newbie style)....researching the best keywords for my newly existent websites.

I've copied your post for reference. Too much valuable information! I hope that's cool.

    Thanks a million!
