Which types of applications do users prefer most in 2018

I'm currently working on a piece of software in my spare time for automating mundane marketing stuff on some of the top social media platforms, I figured I might make it available publicly at some point if it suits my needs well, but this got to to thinking about the actual end user and what the preferred final deliverable should be?

I personally prefer scripts or anything that I can run on linux because I can get as much compute power as I need for cheap. A Windows vps can get expensive if you want lots of cpu power but if you want to run a bunch of desktop apps on it, I could see it being worth the investment. Seeing as how I never try to do any marketing related tasks from my phone or tablet, and because my laptop basically goes everywhere with me, having mobile access to software isn't a major concern for me, but I can see how it could be for others.

What I care most about with my software is it being set it and forget it, I don't want to have to babysit it. Few desktop based tools get his done right, GSA is one, there may be others that are truly set it and forget it, but not many.

Some people prefer web services / Saas offerings , but I hate the feeling of having no control TBH.

Then there's hybrids like rankerX and the likes which is cool. but out of curiosity, does anybody actually use the browser interface anywhere besides their desktop? If not , isn't it just pointless? I mean, unless your accessing the app from your phone or tablet, I don't get the point of running a server for a single user seo tool .

I've kind of been out of the loop for a while so I'd be interested to know what everyone's preference / opinions are in 2018.

Thanks.

Social media marketing software. Making it easier to create, post and track Facebook and Twitter posts. Tools to use a desktop for Instagram. It's certainly not as if these programs don't exist, but they are very popular.

  • In 2018 users specifically Enterprises are preferring cloud based technologies like Mobile Device Management(MDM) solutions. MDM softwares are gaining fast popularity and importance in the Enterprise world as they allow easy management, securing and controlling company owned and deployed mobile devices. MDM solutions like MobiLock Pro are among the preferred applications which are being fast adopted by Enterprises.

Niche business software is the best thing for us little guys to get into. Usually there are few competitors. Businesses will also pay $$$$$ for software that ultimately saves them money.

If you are interested in building something for social media, then it could be interested to do something that includes the alternative social networks. I am talking about Gab, Mastodon, Pump or Diaspora in addition to the most popular ones.

I definitely want to include as many sites as possible, but I'd like to get all of the larger ones covered first. Please do feel free to list any other sites that would be of interest though.

      Thanks.

I would love a simple product that allows me to connect to the Aliexpress API and pulls the pricing (cost) information and then allows me to apply my pricing model (say a 60% margin, rounded at the nearest x.x9 price) so that it is easy to load into my Shopify website. Pricing model portion should be an easy rules engine. Of course, it needs to break pricing down by all the sub categories of the product: colors, additional add-ons etc... That is something I would purchase!
