Walmart begins selling ebooks

I was scanning through the news this morning and noticed an article in USA Today talking about the fact that Walmart was taking another shot at Amazon by beginning the sale of ebooks today which Amazon (Kindle) currently dominates.


Could this be another venue for Internet marketers that create ebooks and audio books? I don't know ... time will tell. It might be worth seeking out information from Walmart about the process of submitting an ebook for distribution.


Anyone know more about this news and whether it will present a new venue for independent authors like many folks here?

    Interesting, Steve. This is the first I've heard about it.

    Looks like they are partnering with Kobo to use their readers.

    It will be interesting to see if writers can self-publish on the platform.

    I don't know about Kobe but Walmart just started so you could say they have zero market share. It does look like they are going all in though. They are heavily promoting their new ebook line. On their website it is promoted in the first picture of their slider. They are offering a $10 discount to first time purchasers, etc.
