Solved, Thanks! Bucks to YOU for my Tagline

Hi All!

I need a tagline for my site. After scrounging around the automatic tagline generators this morning (remind me not to get up so early next time) I am still having trouble.

I have always likened making my own main site to trying to cut my own hair. It is easier to cut someone elses.

After reading some guidelines and articles, I have some ideas but one idea was to brainstorm with others so I'm throwing it in here.

What do I/mysite do?

I find things on the web that people are looking for. I deliver digital goods. I do some video as well, but I think that will be a highlight and not the overall offering for this site. More along the lines of multi-media.

I point people in the right direction - or show them several ways they can tackle something.

I like to consider the final product of these digital solutions more as "digital entertainment"

I do work online and offline.

I'm looking for something that conveys "I can find what you are looking for, but we are fun, not corporate stuffy" and "I can help you save a lot of money" although if someone wants to spend more, I can help them do that as well.

Currently I have "digital entertainment multimedia solutions" but I'm not sure if this is expressive enough and sounds stiff? I'm open to more friendly personalized sounding tagline ideas.

Also, this site will be a general showcase site for some of my other sites and client projects.

I want to get the tagline together before ordering the logo - so if you have any better ideas for me, please drop them here.

Questions?

Just ask.

Here are some words/thoughts that may help:

mapping
searching
finding
delivering
web
video
audio

How about something like 'mapping the road to your future in business'. That's just off the top of my head, it will need to be snappier.

Ha, this will be going on avenuegirl.com - which just got a new template and is not filled in at this time but working on it today. I had more personal blogging on this before, but realized I can save all that for the free wordpress blog that shares the same name.

Logo may be along the lines of a street sign or map kind of thing.

I like mapping the road part - but some of what I do is not just for business. For instance, I am open to personalized projects as well. I've done DVD photo slideshows for a birthday and did a political essay video shoot and edit for another client. I don't want people to see the word business and disregard personalized services.

Hmm, at first I was thinking this first one is too broad, but there is some potential in there.

Detectives is a good term, but comes across a bit too "sleuthy" - looking for something bordering more on tour guide, but that is not the right word either.

My fear with the word "saver" is it sounds too much like a coupon flyer.

On a side note, I found these "generators" for the taglines, but what I did not see was a generator where one could drop in these keywords and it would then generate for you more specifically.

This could be a great project for a programmer. Something that has a built in thesaurus, allows you to fill in a couple of fields, and then generates some tag lines.

If anyone is interested, there is a good page here on some tips to creating tag lines:

Business Name & Tag Line Generator

Amazing how much can go into just a few words. It seems tougher than creating a whole sales page.

Getting so close. I'm concerned about 2 words being too short. If I just saw for instance my name and a listing and all it said was "avenuegirl digitally delicious" or visa versa this could conjure up a direction I may not want to be seen in.

It is good to go with the repeating letters thing, and wondering if maybe 7 words might work -

__________ _____________, ______________ _____________, and digitally delicious (or deliciously digital)

So, the other ones don't have to be "d's" but need to match in their sets. See where I'm going?

You have me looking up more on the difference between tagline, slogans, etc. :p

It can be 5 words too, and the "and" could be a "always" or something else to bind things together.

From what I'm reading, Tagline - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I need to "create a memorable phrase that will sum up the tone and premise of a brand or product"

I'm having a problem with just using 2 words, but I'm open to others opinions on this based on what was posted above.

Can someone show me some 2 word taglines they like?

What you have Tom is great - I'm just not sure it can be summed up in only 2 words (which would be ideal)

                        Hey Jill,

You may want to give some serious thought to using the 2 word tag as it will be simple and easily remembered by those who see it. Always remember KISS.

I am actually 77 years old. I think that date was set when they transfered data over to this new forum.

A diva (English pronunciation:*/ˈdiːvə/, Italian:*[ˈdiːva]) is a celebrated female singer. The term is used to describe a woman of outstanding talent in the world of opera, and by extension in theatre, cinema and popular music.

[and latterly, in many other fields]

The word entered the English language in the late 19th century. It is derived from the Italian noun diva, a female deity. The plural of the word in English is "divas"; in Italian, dive [ˈdiːve].

The basic sense of the term is "goddess."

Thanks Jill, that's very kind of you.

However, if you scan back through this thread, you'll see that all I really did was rub a bit of polish onto Adam's thoughts. So I'd be delighted if you give the prize money to him - plus he threw out a welcome compliment in my direction!

Also, as it's now after 6.00pm here in the UK, I already have a (very) long Gin and Tonic and a Montecristo No.1 on the go.

But slogan and tagline are 2 different things.

                  Ah...the dreaded Wikipedia.

                  You quoted my quip.

Trust me (and twenty award winning years in the advertising industry) the shorter, more succinct and apposite the tagline the better. It is generally the result of refinement and at each stage we try to render words redundant.

Maybe (all of) what you're looking for cannot be contained in two words...so I'll try harder.

Ok, I have to be honest to let you know that I'm not hot on the word Diva. it is associated with primadonna which is associated with:

"Legendarily, these "prima donnas" (prime donne in Italian) were often regarded as egotistical, unreasonable and irritable, with a rather high opinion of themselves not shared by others."

Haha! No only acting up. In the real world, I have quite a requirement for publicity shots for lectures, seminars, agency and awards panel press releases etc.

The shot was taken by my fiancee before she passed away in January. She was a professional photographer with considerable talent - made a 39 year old look ten years younger! I should change it really but I'm kind of attached to all of her work...still.

Hey, no problem on the "diva" opinion. You are the client, after all.

          Tom

Wow, we are the same age yet I look so much younger.

My ex wife took my shot which is why she is a ex.

OMG, I just looked at your published DOB - I feel like an old lady if that is correct.

              lol

No that isn't correct, it is just the age I look like.

I am actually 77 years old. I think that date was set when they transfered data over to this new forum.

Implying that you've already got the answers might sound better than suggesting that you're going to spend all your time finding them

      Thanks Steve!

I got a winner already, but will email you immediately the next time.

Going to put a note back at top of thread.

It's an interesting thread in any case to see what others were coming up with.

        Shucks.

Cheers, Jill. Just make sure you email me at ~8pm Friday UK time. By midnight, you can guarantee I'll have an even more incomprehensible and unusable tagline for you!
