Converting a Long-Form Sales Page to a Squeeze Page.. ?

Hello all

I have a long form sales page that I really wish was a squeeze page.

The problem is that the long-form page ranks quite high in google (in the top ten) and its how i get most of my traffic.

I'd like to shorten it to a short-form squeeze page that, afterwards, links to the long sales page.... but I am afraid I'll lose a lot of my long-tail rankings and so forth.

Does anyone have any tips on where I should go with this?

I geuss I can do PPC to the opt-in page.. but I'd like everyone to opt in...

I also do not want a squeeze/sales page hybrid...

Yeah thats an idea -- I just hate changing it since the long copy works well in the search engines.. hmm

That depends on WHY the page ranks highly. In most cases if your incoming links stayed the same and you left your title tag intact, you would have roughly the same position. If you can use the same H1 tag that would help as well.

If you can post the URL (though I understand if you don't wish to) I can tell you pretty quickly.

    Well, you'd have to chose:
    - keep your google love and leave the page mostly as it is.
    - change it and most likely lose google love.

I can't really think of a reason why you would want to make that complete change. What the change 'promises' you is not compelling enough to lose google love. Given that you have no idea if your squeeze (with then maybe zero traffic) will convert...

Set up your squeeze somewhere else for testing. Maybe put a popup or something on the current sales letter.

    Just my 2 cents...
